i know we've mentioned morrissey's new cd on this forum before, but i don't recall anyone talking about the shocking lyrics of his new album.
i love morrissey and i own all his stuff, but this time i've found myself cringing!
here are some excerpts:.
1) Morrissey going too far? Hmm, I think when the Smiths came out with Girlfriend In a Coma, that showed that you can never go too far if you are Morrissey ....
2) When this much gloom & degradation is on a CD, it somehow lessens the effect of even the most controversial lyrics. In fact, I almost found those lyrics comical they were so over the top; I think Morrissey would love this saying: I am free of all prejudice. I hate everyone equally...
just watched that movie again tonight...with a different perspective.. how much john nash's life is an analogy of our lives as jws!
the "real" things that weren't real, the almost "physical" delusionary convictions, and the post-"schizophrenic" struggles we've had?.
as john nash said in his nobel prize acceptance speech (according to the movie): "i've gone from the physical, to the metaphysical, to the delusional, and back to the physical...and to the ultimate realization that love is the only reason.".
I was born Idio savant with gifted mental abilities.By the time I was 19 y.o. i was a hysterical hollow zombie with a vocabulary limited to obscenities. All because of Watchtower abuse and degradation.
I don't go that far in my situation...to my actual shock, I am still somehow above average as far as intelligence & book smarts go for my peers. However, I can only imagine what would of been if I hadn't been stifled by doing all those meetings, field service, talks...and the added mental pressure of trying to act "separate" from the rest of my fellow peers. It is unfair and wrong when I look back...I will learn from it though and ensure that my children aren't nearly treated in the same manner.
i don't know if this has already been posted??.
according to the uk may kingdom ministry, there will now be facilities in place to accept donations by credit cards and debit cards at all english language conventions.
as far as i am aware this is the first time that this happened in the uk, although it have have been introduced in other countries at an earlier time.. i suppose that the gb are hoping that the dubs will be so overwhelmed by the "whole convention experience" that they will get themselves into debt, paying money they don't have into the society coffers.. i am also sure that at every break, an announcement will be made explaining exactly where these credit card machine facilities will be.. also another first, next to each contribution box will be a big wad of the gift aid forms, so the wt will get an additional 22% on top paid for by the goverment.
Talk about an unbalanced view of credit card processing from the Society...nice that it was cautionary but it did nothing to show the good points of having a credit card. As far as the Society offering credit card donations, I actually do not have an ethical problem with this if their donation system was actually worldwide and not supporting a cult...but I don't really object to religious organizations providing more options to support them.
Re-package them and sell them to hobos!
People have such a backward perception of hobos...they don't like roaches although they do use them in their special hobo mating rituals. But don't get it twisted, it is only for the mating rituals!
i just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.
they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.
i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.
He just said it was hypocritical religion but that they has most of the bible right in his opinion.
That is why he was shocked by hearing you say apostate...anyone who does real study of the JW doctrine can see that the WTS doesn't have many things that are biblically "right"...
i remember reading a few times here that there are passages in the bible that reference books that are no longer included in the official canon for both protestant & catholic denominations.
anybody have links & writeups on these passages & references?
any assistance would be appreciated greatly.

my mother told me that a regular pioneer in his 60's from a nearby hall questioned how we could be sure 1914 was the date christ was enthroned as king of the kingdom.
he questioned the brother conducting the meeting for field service.
it didn't go well......he left that hall and is reported missing in action!
I always wondered how a JW could say that God's Word the Bible is simple to understand for a true believer and then actually try to explain the 1914 prophecy with a straight face. It was like saying that if you are truly interested in Nuclear Physics then you will have no problem understanding it completely...
i know a number of persons that remained as jws because they desperately wanted to see their loved ones come back from the grave and be there to welcome them.
they were afraid that if they died at armageddon or were not totally faithful that there would be a great possibility of never seeing them again........was that "ressurection hope" a big draw for you remaining a witness?
When my father died, I had a lot of crazy stuff going through my head because my mom had pounded into my head how those who rejects God's organization would not be given the chance of resurrection...my dad was a staunch Born Again Christian so I was really scared that even if I made it to the resurrection that he wouldn't be there. However, after really thinking about it (and reading the bible), I came to the conclusion that the JW's teachings were definitely not properly interpreted from the Bible. After that, the thought of a resurrection didn't matter as much to me...
Besides, as I grew up I decided that if I want a relationship with God then I rather have it out of love of being alive then thinking about what I get out of it. This life is good enough...you don't have to use some lure for me to thank God...
