These things did not come to pass as written, yet they claimed this chronology was "divine." And isn't "absolutely and unqualifiedly correct" another way of saying "flawless"?
Well I would sure say so!
historians agree that jerusalem was invaded by babylon in 586/587bce.
the wts discredits most historical records and says that jerusalem was invaded in 607bce.
the wts start with 587 and add the 70 years that jerusalem lay desolate to obtain the 607 date.. if jerusalem was invaded in 587 then it lay desolate for only 50 years (587-537=50).

i just sent this letter to a jw who came knocking on my door talking to me about 1914. i doubt it does him much good since he will probably not read it.
first, you assume that when christ spoke of the the times of the gentiles he was referring to a period of time which began when jerusalem was destroyed by babylon and would end with his enthronement in heaven.
), the year in which the bible tells us that he destroyed jerusalem.
Excellent job Mike!!

a few weeks ago i started a thread explaining that i wanted to read the entire bible for the first time.
i had been reading the kjv and i read revelation, john i, ii, ii and then i read john, matthew, mark, luke using the kjv in that order at someone's suggestion here.
i further took the suggestion of the poster and purchased an niv bible.
did you notice in the NWT Doubting Thomas asked to see the holes of the nailS in Jesus' hands? Nails plural not singular as would be the case if he died on the cross.
I
suppose you mean "if he died on the stake".
Whether he would have died on a stake or a cross he would have still had more than one nail hole. Couldn't it be either way?
does the ot support the christian doctrine that a heavenly messiah would come and redeem us of our sins, due to adams fall, hence the advent of jesus christ?
or was it a made up doctrine by the early followers of christ to give credence and purpose of existence to their faith?
if the latter is the case then it is understandable why the muslims believe that the christians are so wrong in belief in christ as a heavenly figure.
How could the prophecies be any clearer than this?
Narkissos wrote: Er... by putting it in the future tense, perhaps?
Weren't the prophecies in a future tense?

i usually fast three to four times a year, i am going on my third day now.
i get tremendous health benefits from it as i purge my body of impurities that we eat, drink and otherwise.
i feel much clearer mentally and physically.. has anybody else ever fasted, for how long, how did it help you and what did you do?.
My wife has been suffereing from migraines for a few years now. Man, I wonder if fasting would help her?

91 is a ripe old age. I suppose his regimen of vitamins etc could have prolonged his life somewhat at that rate. I take vitamins when I think of it, which is about every other day, and have pondered the idea of fasting but only tried it once in my life for about 3 to 4 days.
I am only 48 and am starting to have problems with arthritis in my spine and wondered if fasting or certain vitamins would help or delay the process.

i've always thought about putting together a vacation package for just ex-jw's.
if say, one was put together to stay several days at a place like the acapulco princess hotel in mexico, or the rose hall hotel in jamaica with lunches, dinners and entertainment all included and swiming pools galore would you come?
maybe a package that includes airfare and everything for $1500 or so per person!.
I just might!
nu 31:17-18 moses, following the lord's command, orders the israelites to kill all the midianite male children and "... every woman who has known man ...." (note: how would it be determined which women had known men?
one can only speculate.
dt 21:10-13 with the lord's approval, the israelites are allowed to take "beautiful women" from the enemy camp to be their captive wives.
