I always tried loyally to do that, but it's pretty hard. Kind of like the feeling of trying to come up with a new phrasing for the standard "1919" answer in the Isaiah books. There are only so many things you can talk about. I guess in my mind, it almost became like something to mention briefly so we could move on to other things.

i know that our very own seattleniceguy posted pics of the remodeled assembly hall in puyallup....but we just got an email from a dub from our old congregation that still has us on their distribution list.

I hear ya, Princess, that really is creepy. I knew a lot of those people. It really hit me as a waste of life, all those people working for something that isn't real. Hope some of them make it out.

Very interesting. The biggest thing I got out of the article is that the Josephus quote so often referred to by the Society, appears to be bunk. If that is the case, then, does that mean that there are no direct references to Jesus outside of Christian literature?

Let's not play strawman, Dakota. I don't suggest that the US should be Europe's lapdog. I don't suggest that the US ask for orders from the European Union.
You seem to suggest that Europe doesn't like us because they are "jealous of us" and "want to take away [our wealth, position, etc] instead of earning their own." I find this suggestion to be ludicrous. Europe is a collection of developed nations and highly educated people. Their opposition to our policies stems not from childish jealousy, but from moral outrage. To dismiss the legitimate concerns of the world is not the stand of a fearless leader, but a reckless bully.

I care what Europeans think of Bush? Not much...spineless cowards many of them...wouldn't even intervene in Bosnia or Kosovo. The Polish...ask the Poles what they think about the US and Bush...they like us.
Yeru, this statement is maddening. Disregard for what the rest of the world thinks is exactly why so many people, Americans and otherwise, are angry with Bush. Calling nations that don't agree with us "spineless cowards" is an ad hominem attack - one of the most ridiculous reasoning fallacies.
The fact that such a large portion of the informed world denounces US policies should be a wake up call, not an occasion to plug our ears and sing songs.

Rem, I believe that Abbaddon meant that to execute Saddam publicly in a showy way would be to show disrespect for life, by making the execution into some kind of event or show. As I'm sure everyone will guess based on my previous comments on this topic, I think that a public hanging does little in a productive way. It tills vengeance back into the public mindset. And with regard to sending messages, I don't think there is any evidence to indicate that rates of crime and lawlessness are lower in places that execute vindictive justice.
That said, of course, the Iraqi people should be the ones to decide his fate. That much, I believe, is just.
