I'm suprised that all shows aren't subtitled in the US like they are in the UK, I just took it for granted.

The lesson learnt was that England is too bl**dy cold to clean windows in Winter!!!
Hence, not long after that I moved home to Scotlandto clean windows in the snow?
I worked in a bakery for a pittance of a wage. I regret turning down a job in an electronics firm with a college release program in order to pioneer, and I had already passed all my exams at school. It took me to leave the org 7 years later for me to go to college and change my life.

Tacoma Dome Parking Scandal
by VM44 inremember the tacoma dome parking scandal?.
it was reported a few years ago that the wt would charge witnesses for parking at the tacoma dome even though the contract with the dome stated that no parking charges were to be made.
of course the people in the kingdom halls were not told that, only reminded to be sure to pay for their parking!.

Were You Ever Counseled For Your Attitude or Because You Didn't Measure Up?
by minimus inone thing jws do, and especially elders, is counsel people.
everything is all about setting a person straight.
even bible students are conditioned to be counseled and to do the same toward any that ask them questions as to what they believe.

I got counselled several times. Once for a rumour that went round the congregation that I had drunk 5 pints. I was told that "you wouldn't drink 5 pints of tea, would you?" so you must be drinking for the effect of alcohol!!! shock - horror!

No Atkins - no diet at all - I lost 5 stone (70lbs) in a year by eating low fat and calorie counting, and haven't put a single pound back on.

Are things REALLY getting worse? JWs are so pessimistic...
by somebodylovesme inone of the things that always puzzled me about the witnesses' doctrine was this idea that we are living in the worst time the world has ever seen - that the twentieth century has surpassed all others in death and destruction.
am i only the only crazy fool who thinks we have it pretty good?.
a hundred years ago, people died from diseases that are easily treated today.

Life expectancy is much longer - I don't know exactly but I guess double what it was a century ago when you factor in the infant mortality rate.
Wasn't man's short life a result of falling from perfection? What about predictions that life will be prolonged further by genetic enhancements?

BBC just covered Kerrys speech. The thing I was interested in was he was saying about bringing jobs back to America and legislating for workers in every trade agreement. I wonder what all the outsourcing companies think about that?

Are you a people person or a loner?
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini've heard that there are people who thrive on being with people.
they gain energy from it.
then there are the loners who gain energy from being alone.
-
ball.
So, I guess we are mainly extroverted loners then, judging by the replies.

I don't think it is a black or white question, more like a spectrum. I would say I am a little on the recluse side. I am at home with people and without. I have up until now had lodgers to help pay the bills and have always had friends in as flat mates, but when my current mate goes, I will probably choose to live totally alone again for a while.
What probably puts me on the loner side is that after several days with many people, I have a strong "need" for time on my own, to chill, to think, to relax. I have even been known (when my house is full of people) to go out to a bar on my own and have totally enjoyed the experience which others may find lonely.
My mother always described me as a thinker, and I could not envisage being bored if I were ever locked up indefinately, as I would have my entire mind to explore.
