We have ground breaking scientific research which produces statistical results, which can be logically interpreted to produce a probable picture of human history. The results then the hypothesis.
Not the other way round. Apologists start off with a unprovable, simplistic story of Judiastic origin (that these are copies of much older Babylonian and Caananite legends is ignored) and try to shoehorn modern thinking and wisdom to fit their belief. They forget that they are endowed with copious amounts of faith, which can make you believe anything, no matter how unlikely, regardless of facts to the contrary.
A Christian, I respect your right to believe but your "leap of faith" gives you an unfair advantage over us non-believers.
Give me a modern scientific journal any day, rather than one scripture from your Holy books.
IMHO of course

DNA - belief destuction
by donkey inthe single largest reason to decimate my belief in jw?s and all biblical faith occurred when i discovered some facts about our cells.
specifically a part of the cell called mitochondria.
mitochondria are sometimes described as "cellular power plants" because their primary purpose is to manufacture adenosine triphosphate (atp), which is used as a source of energy that the cell uses.. as humans one inherits one?s mitochondria only from one's mother, this finding implies that all living humans have a female line of descent from a woman whom researchers have dubbed mitochondrial eve.

Not sure how far back in history it goes, as you can alter the date of the sky your looking at. -

Annointed: yearly figures
by DaCheech in.
is it my imagination.... or did the numbers of "annointed" partaking in the lords evening meal go up by 5 people this year?.
what explanation can make any sense at all about this?

If you ignore actual numbers from Elsewhere's chart and look at the percentage change against the previous year the picture looks different.
Heres the graph :
It looks like every down is matched with an up. In fact the figures say that there has been 30 up years, one stationary year and only 13 down.
I thought they were supposed to be dying off.
Any statisticians here care to examine trends? Can the ups and downs correlate with events or politics within the Org?

Sex And Baal.
by Englishman ini was recalling yesterday with a newbie -ex how some dub folk liken the sex act to baal worship.. we had one chappie in our congregation who would forever be admonishing us that partaking in oral sex or anal sex (why are they always bracketed together by jw's?
) were in themselves an act of baal worship even if one was legally married to the initiator / recipient.. i don't get it.
(the point of view, not the sex) anyone else come across this one?.

The JWs and their obsession with their asherah pole. They just can't help thinking about what they might be missing.

There are actually a lot more anointed alive than the figures show. It's the fact that they are now so old that when they are at the memorial they forget where they are and don't remember to partake of the bread and the wine and so they don't get counted.

Wasn't the TV called by the WT "Satans Eye" many years ago. The Internet is demonised so the monitor could be Satans other eye.

JWs Found Guilty
by Kenneson inan interesting story comes out of aspen, colorado.
it is entitled "men admit wrongdoing after menorah vandalism.
" guess what religion they belonged to?

" A witness saw the vandalism and called Aspen police, "
So that was a witness, who wasn't a Jehovahs Witness, that witnessed the Jehovahs Witnesses not giving a good witness.
