Actually, if Bush is no longer President, who are we going to laugh at? What about all the funny news videos of the president making an ass of himself? Maybe I should vote for Bush afterall...

I just got rid of a 1992 Lexus ES300. It had 170,000 miles. The enginer still ran perfect, except that it had a decent oil leak and a decent power steering leak and a minor tranny leak. On top of that, Reverse was starting to go.
It was a nice car and very comfortable to drive. The biggest problem is the cost of repairs. We had to fix two window motors and a few electrical problems here and there. Fixing an ES300 is WAAAAY more expensive than fixing a Camry which is basically the same care minus some amenities. They wanted $2000 to fix the power steering leak! Everytime I had to buy parts through my mechanic he would mention how much more expensive they were than the camry parts he buys.
I love my new car, but since I'm incognito don't want to mention what it is, since I just bought it and it is an usual type of car. Good luck! The only advice is, don't rush into any deal. There is no such thing as a once in a lifetime car deal, there's always a deal just as good around the corner. -

George Bush on "Meet the Press"
by RubaDub inwow.... .
i'm surprised by the lack of comment on bush's appearance on the show "meet the press.".
i was expecting the conserveatives to be praising his rousing comments in the interview.

My favorite Bushism..."You fool me once, shame on....(thinking)...shame on you....(thinking)(idea pops into head)....you fool me, we can't get fooled again..."
Bush mixing up his rock lyrics with cliche sound bites.

Smokers of the World, Unite and Take Over

"I agree w/ the first part, and I'm a smoker. The second part is bullshit on your part." Like I said, I only do it to friends, who KNOW I hate ciggarette smoke. Any friend of mine that comes to talk to me with chemical smoke spewing out of them in my direction knows what to expect from me.

Doesn't sound like you have too much to lose, so go for it. Chances are they will label you as apostate (even though you are only studying) and they will avoid you and treat you like a lost cause. The good news is you will be able to tell your g/f that they could not prove you wrong and simply swept it under the rug and are now ignoring you. Let us know what happens!

"Lost in Translation" (with Bill Murray)
by LittleToe inwhile i was away on a recent road trip i had the opportunity to nip into a cinema to kill a couple of hours.
having see everything i wanted to see, during the week, i decided to watch the only thing that was starting at that time "lost in translation".
i didn't know anything about it, other than that it was going to help me bide my time, away from home.. i groaned inwardly, when i saw bill murray hit the screen, as i'm not especially a fan.. however, i was deeply moved by what was portrayed, along with the japanese neo-cultural explosion that was evidenced.. i hope this doesn't mean i'm reaching a mid-life crisis, however i found it profoundly disturbing.. http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2003-09-30/film_review2.html.

Megadude, agreed it may not be a masterpiece but it was such a refreshing difference for mainstream hollywood! I loved it! But I absolutely loved her first movie, The Virgin Suicides, so I was probably bound to like Lost in Translation. And like DIM, I'm also a Wes Anderson fan, so I love Bill Murray's acting in these types of flicks!

Lurkers! Is the WTS a Tax Cheat and Deadbeat?
by metatron ini have not seen any announcement from the watchtower stating that they have settled their tax liability with.
the nation of france.
they went thru the courts there - and lost.

Good point, Metatron, not sure how the WT could argue such a straight forward scripture. Bible aside tho, I am against any religous intolerance or persecution and this whole thing just stinks a little too much like it.

I'm not an apologist, but I agree with Undercover...
I don't know all the facts and don't have time to find them out besides what we discuss here, so I can't cast judgement either way. But from what I've read, it does seem that the JWs were singled out and treated unfairly by the government. They tell all the members to pay taxes, but if a brother was oddly singled out by the government to pay higher taxed than everyone else and he refused, I don't think his elders would DF him.
