For myself, I am sick of it, but let me respond LT's question.
The only religion I have or will ever be a part of is the JW's, so when I say I am sick of religion, I mean I am sick of religion being in my face and being used as a reason to fight or people saying that I should be part of theirs, because it is right for them, or because I will be punished unless I do as they do... I find that both irritating and ridiculous.
I have spent a long time in my life around Muslim people who say that their way of life is best for them... Like most born in JW's, they have never tried anything else so have no view at all of what is right for them and what isn't. For myself, I chose to leave the JW's, I was not pushed and they were not maliciously bad to me, at least that was not the reason I left... My reasons were simply that to my mind, if there is a being who created all of this, it was not out of love, it was out of self indulgence (or worse), and that never sat right with me, not only this, but the God as described in the Bible was not one I cared to worship, likewise Gods in other religions are not worthy either, mostly because they are figments of someone’s imagination, but above and beyond this, even if they were real, I really do not think any being is worthy of being worshipped by another. Therefore religion is out of the window for me, not because of the corruption of men, but because by its nature it involves worship, and I think that is a fundamentally ignorant thing. To worship a being, for whatever reason suits you, to me is just a form of escape... Fine for people who find comfort in that, but I find my comforts elsewhere, in ways which I think are right for me.
So, when I say I hate religion, and I'm sick of it, I think it's a few things I cannot stand.
1. The concept of worship
2. The object of worship is usually something I find abhorrent
3. Choosing to live my life according to someone else's rules, when those rules do not sit well with my own, is not something I would do.
So, yes I guess this means I am sick of religion, but it doesn't mean I hold it against the day to day person who believes’s what they believe... It's only when they cross the line and tries to say that their way is right for me, or when their way forcefully influences my life, that I really want to make them disappear.

New and need a question answered before I post any other questions
by soundbox_guy inokay, first off, let me get this straight...you guys are all witnesses, some all active, some do things all the way right, some don't do things all the way right?
some are by the book but not preachy, and some are witnesses that are rogue and do things their own way?
i just want to know before i post any doubts or concerns or anything because even though i know we're supposed to stay away from places like this on the internet, i don't want what i say somehow getting back to my congregation somehow and next thing you know 4 elders come busting through the door waving "no blood" cards and shouting "freeze, jehovah's witnesses!

welcome soundbox, as has already been said, the site is mostly made up of artists formerly known as jw, but there are active jw's here.

Are you generous?
by JH ini love giving and helping people.
makes me feel good.. how about you, do you ever help out people out of pure agape love?.
giving time or money, without expecting anything back in return?
-
dh
i find helping people is rewarding, and i mean actually physical help, or emotional help... i have found that when this crosses over to giving money, things change. i am someone people can count on if they are in real shit, but i will help push someones car if they can't start it, or change a wheel for someone on the side of the road if they are unable. but i think this is courtesy more than generosity... i find that being generous all the time makes people think you are a soft touch, then when you put them back in their place, it can spoil the relationship. i give to charities sometimes, but not nearly enough.

Does watchtower society support any charity??
by Podiatrist injust wondering, do you know of any?
?.

I never personally witnessed it, but I they used to tell us about disaster reliefs that witnesses were involved in, such as hurricanes in the gulf states. As far as I know, they don't formally support any charities.
I remember they used to say this was the case, and they would always say how the local people and other emergency services would comment on how quick the JW's were there to the aid of everyone. However if this were really the case, it would get mentioned at least once in the media coverage, but you never hear about the JW's, you hear about the Red Cross, Oxfam etc. I do not think the JW do any good in disasters... When the Tsunami happened, there was a topic on here where one of our posters called WT Headquarters to offer money, and were told to donate it to the world wide work, and that there was no system in place to donate money to that particular appeal, and I'm sure they don't release figures on how much money they spend on real humanitarian work. They just throw a spin on it, and bank the dollars.

Do you have a mental image of other posters on this site?
by dh ina lot of people here have posted their photo's, but i think the majority haven't... i sometimes wonder when reading posts on here, what person making those posts must look like, not that i want to see their photo, i just find it interesting... i recently got to see a photo of someone i have talked to on here since i first joined, and i had to say the person looked an awful lot like i had imagined, so i wondered if anyone else wonders about things like this?
is there a particular poster you have a mental image of?
care to share it and see if the person really looks like what you think they look like?

I don't think they need to make such a dramatic cut off they can always visit and make a one or two posts every couple of months if they are too busy.
Yeah, I think this too... When people try to be all dramatic and say 'I'm Leaving'... I mean, who cares, people need to get a life if they have to make an announcement that they are leaving JWD. Jeez.
