I don't think I give off signals that make people I am with feel they can act like that around me in public. If it did happen, I would see it as my own mistake for not making the boundaries clear to that person in the first place, and I wouldn't mix with them again. Difficult if it's your roommate. It's up to you if you want to invest time in the person, trying to 'change' them, now that they've already shown what they are. I personally wouldn't. I don't have time for people who are disrespectful. If respect isn't mutual, I think there is no point being there.

by under74 ini mentioned on another thread that friday night i'd gone out with some friends (one being my roommate).
and in the middle of a bar we were at she (roommate) starts screaming at the top of her lungs about how i find everything she says to be wrong and demanding an explanation.
now, to give you a little more detail--right before another friend had been talking about something (my roommate disagreed with for some reason) and then momentarily left to go smoke and as soon as she left my roommate starts going into this heated bitch about the friend that went to smoke.

Why? Why not? I still haven't heard anyone say why it's in poor taste to criticise someone who's dying as opposed to someone who's already dead.
I guess that is one of many things you just have to 'get' and if you don't 'get it', then you don't. You asked a question, I gave my thoughts, it's not my fault you don't understand them, but in all honesty I think you understand completely why it's poor taste, if you didn't already understand, you wouldn't have started this topic in the first place would you.

Do you honestly think that people won't be offended if we criticise the pope after he's dead? Ha. Maybe we should establish, right now, an appropriate mourning period. Something that suit EVERYONE'S tastes.
What I say doesn't stem from whether people are offended or not, I just think it is distasteful (to me) to talk badly about, and criticise someone when they are dying. My personal view of it, is that it is an ugly thing to do. What benefit is it to anyone to criticise someone when they are dying.

by nicolaou ini know it's not the lightest of topics but the current news coverage of the pope's final hours made me wonder if i'd face things as calmly as he is reported to be doing.
i don't have his faith, or any faith anymore, but i can see how for a true believer that would be a source of strength.. the thing is, a lot of us thought we'd never die.
do you really comprehend what a truly massive mind-fuck that is?

I would like to know roughly when I will die, so that I can be by myself. If it happened in an accident or whatever, then I guess it wouldn't make any difference because it would be quick, but I would prefer to know, so that I can make my peace.
I don't think it's possible to have any one set manner in which we will handle dying, because there are so many different ways to die.
As they say, it's the journey that matters, and I think of dying as a journey. I do also think there must be a certain amount of peace gained from knowing you are dying and there is nothing you can do about it. It's the ultimate inevitability.

by Satans little helper inno big hollywood blockbusters, no explosion fests, just good films with a decent cast and a decent script.
definitely nothing with keanu reeves and preferably something that will touch the audience rather than just wash over them.
timeframe immaterial but quality is important.
