Witnesses coming Saturday... I need HELP!!!!

i got into a rather heated discussion this morning with my unbaptised but raised jehovah's witness wife.

we discussed so many things: feb 1 watchtower article on 607 and 1914, the un, beth sarim, blood, god's mouthpiece here on earth, etc.

this was yet another attempt on my part to try to plant a seed of doubt.

They were supposed to come back this morning but I called it off. I'm leaving for China on Monday morning. I'll be gone for a week and a half, and just have too much to do before I leave. Plus today is my daughter's 12th birthday, so I didn't want to take away from that. Anyway, they both were going to come back and talk about the UN. That they were willing to do that kinda surprises me, and leads me to think they will tow the party line and either rationalize it away with intellectual dishonesty or say it was misinformation. I also wanted to talk about what they are studying tomorrow... the Genesis 6:3 thing and how the 120 years marked the beginning of the end for people in Noah's time. WTF? Oh well.

As far as wifey goes, it is still very tenuous. I want to believe that I have seen the slightest bit of true doubt in her eyes and statements, but I can't yet be sure. Time will tell. More important than that though is that my daughter is starting to come around.

i recently read a page where someone, using wt style writing, wrote a piece in support of blood and transfusions.

it looked like it could have come straight out of a watchtower.

it compared the symbol of blood with an actual life, asking which is more important.. can anyone point me to that thread??

what is their reasoning on this?

What is their reasoning on this? Can someone (Blondie?) give me some exact WT references that say this? The more recent the better.

i know that this has been talked about already under a different context, but i had another question about it.... .

the december 15 wt claims that genesis 6:3 started a 120 year countdown to the flood.

My question is whether anyone ever thought this verse to mean something other than god limiting how long a man would live. All of the preceding chapter (Gen 5) describes men living hundreds of years old. It seems that this is an amazing jump for the WT to make.

Our purpose for registering with the Department of Public Information as a nongovernmental organization (NGO) in 1991 was to have access to research material available on health, ecological, and social problems at the United Nations library facilities. We had been using the library for many-years prior to 1991, but in that year it became necessary to register as an NGO to have continued access. Registration papers filed with the United Nations that we have on file contain no statements that conflict with our Christian beliefs. Moreover, NGOs are informed by the United Nations that "association of NGOs with the DPI does not constitute their incorporation into the United Nations system, nor does it entitle associated organizations or their staff to any kind of privileges, immunities or special status."

Still, the Criteria for Association of NGOs-at least in their latest version-contain language that we cannot subscribe to. When we realized this, we immediately withdrew our registration. We are grateful that this matter was brought to our attention.

We trust that the above is, helpful in counteracting the attempts of opposers to discredit us.

i tried the search feature on this site, and for some reason it did'nt work for me.
