My lawyer told me...is this the case where you live too?
by Globetrotter ini recently filed for divorce.
i don't want to take my children (15 and 13) away from their jw mom, but i wanted to make sure that i had final say in medical matters.
my attorney said that in south carolina, legislation was passed that pretty much mandated that doctors provide minor children with life-saving care over any religious objections by parents or hospital committees.

Another atheist thread
by Globetrotter inthe "what kind of atheist are you" thread sparked a thought and i didn't want it lost, buried deep inside the thread, nor did i want to hijack the thread.
so, my question is this... .
if god does not exist, just exactly who/what is the god of the bible and how did he/it get elevated to such status?

What kind of atheist are you?
by Narkissos inchief rabbi leon ashkenazi said: "the difference between an atheist christian and an atheist jew is that an atheist christian does not believe that god exists, while an atheist jew believes that god does not exist.".
i'm not so sure about the jewish-christian borderline, but i love the nuance.. so which sentence suits you better?.
"i don't believe that god exists.".

The continuing saga of being in love with a Witness
by starcrossedpimp ini don't know how many read my prior post "problems with jw girlfriend and her family", but i feel the need to continue the story as it is very current and is taking quite a toll on both of us.
she and i also work together at a grocery store, so even if she does/did decide to break things off (because of her parents and the religion) we would still see each other (i'll get to this in a minute).
we both know that we still love each other and that we deserve to be together, but can this religion be stronger than true love?????

where did I see...
by Globetrotter ini recently read a page where someone, using wt style writing, wrote a piece in support of blood and transfusions.
it looked like it could have come straight out of a watchtower.
it compared the symbol of blood with an actual life, asking which is more important.. can anyone point me to that thread??

Relationship: Do you hold back from saying all you are thinking?
by Sassy ini have become so much more independent and in some ways demanding as i have stopped being a jw.
there was a time when i was literally a doormat for my first husband.
but i have found from being single and then add to that losing the grip from the jw rules, i have become more independence and in many ways more of an opinion.

The bible is not written for me...
by Globetrotter inin another thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/65166/1.ashx), wednesday mentioned that one of the confusing points for her was that the dubs claim that the bible was written only for the 144,000, and not for everyone.
what is their reasoning on this?
can someone (blondie?
