I don't take the Bible literally . . ?

just a little thought on that subject.

is that like you wouldn't take "snow white and the 7 dwarfs" literal?

HI Pat: I think the Bible is much more than mere fairy tales. It is a legitimate history of the Jews and early Christians. The culture of that day, however, had two features affecting their writing. First, their legends were allegorical and used for teaching lessons, values, and morals. We make a serious error in modern times when we treat any of these too literally.

Second, these ancient people had a very limited level of scientific knowledge, such that they could only write according to how they perceived events. The Flood, for example, was said to cover the world ... but I think it was the Apostle Peter who clarified this by saying 'the world at that time' ... To these ancient people a major flood could have easily been interpreted as the whole world.

I believe that the Bible has much good in it, and that God's words was contained in it ... but, I cannot accept it as THE whole, entire, and infallible WORD of God. I do not believe that there is any such book. The Bible contains too many errors to be a perfect work of God.

Hi Lee: I like all of your proposals. I believe that you are correct in this position, "Explore linking the blood issue and molestation issues under the larger umbrella of child neglect in the WTS."

I believe that neglect affects these and areas of inappropriate dicipline (many JW kids are physically and psychologically abused with dicipline based on WTS policy) and lack or good education. JW kids are often not motivated to do well in grade school, Jr. High, or High School in preparation for college. This is not always the case, but often is as a result of WTS policies. Likewise, due to JW families trying to Pioneer and other excessive time consuming goals, their children can be placed at greater risks by living in substandard conditions, no medical insurance, etc.

I am not trying to broaden the scope too much, but I believe that the WTS policies and constant pushing JWs has resulted in a broad scope of abuse and harm to their children. I also believe that a unified legal iad and assisitance fund, such as what Silent Lambs has alerted us to, would be very workable. I have made preparations in my state to set this up, but I have deferred to SilentLambs unless my help is needed. - Amazing

Hi Francoise2: I will email you later on today. Dateline is an NBC program that normally airs Monday nights during primetime, generally 7:00 PM in my area, (may vary in some areas). Tomorrow night Dateline will be discussing the special effects of the new movie, 'Pearl Harbor.' Dateline (NBC), 20/20 (ABC), and 60 Minutes (CBS) are the competing major network investigative news programs in that feature investigative reporting on almost any social topic. How does one become a JW???

every source i've looked at is very vague and my witness friends just keep encouraging me to stop asking questions and come to meetings.

my sense is, since i disagree so much with jw doctrine and the way it is presented in awake and especially watchtower that i'd never make it as a jw.

still i am curious what the process is and what "tests" if any one must pass.. any info will be much appreciated.. thanks,.

Hi: I agree with Outnfree, 'Run for your life.' IN addition to all the crap you will go through as a JW, they will subtly create negative feelings about sex in a way that it stands a very good chance of harming your marital and sexual relationship with your future wife.

What you might think about is how to get her out of the religion, rather thank you getting into the religion. Your situation reminds me of a matter I learned as an Elder, and I will make a separate post on it. It will have the word "Sex" in the title. - Amazing

Hi Pat: Media attention is one of several avenues that are being worked on. I was recently quoted in a relatively major journal read across the world regarding the cover up of pedophilia and my past experience as an ELder, observing such problems.

I eventually went to the authorities in one case. Sometime thereafter, the Watch Tower Society Legal Dept. sent me a certified letter stating that the local Elders determined that I had Disassociated myself. I would have persued legal action had the Police been able to make a case against the person I reported. But, the JW victims and families were not willing to talk to the police. The Sheriff investigative officer did find a file in child services on the person I reported, but it was sealed as part of a plea agreement. It involved another situation beside the one I reported.

As for other attention, I was in the process of setting up a legal fund for ex-JW victims - but, when Silent Lambs came onto the scene, I am deferring to the set-up he has made us aware of for this purpose.

Finally, beside criminal charges that are currently pending in many cases around the country, there remains civil suits to be filed. I will make a special announcement about the details in the future.

Finally, as we each read reports that come out about this issue, we can alert our local media. This can help cast more attention on this serious issue. Actually, war plans are in place. - Amazing

And, maybe some among them from frontline Elders, to COs, DOs, and right up to the very top, The Almighty GB, may be sitting in a chair next to a man clothed in a Black Robe, spelling the word DEFENDANT!

Does the Watch Tower religion deserve such a label as the Pedophile Organizaton? Yes! They worked for, they deserved it, and we are not going to deprive them of it. The Day of Reconning is getting Closer. - Amazing

I don't need an attorney because I am not directly involved. It is my son-in-law's JW dad who molested a relative on his side of thier family. I am involved to the extent of talking to the authorities, monitoring, and tracking, and waiting to learn whether my grandchildren we affected. If my son-in-law's dad is found to have also molested my grandchildren, and the Elders knew about this, it is the congregation and the Society that will need an attorney.

"Will this skum totally get away with all his krimes; what will land him behind bars NOW that you can press charges on from then? He must be held responsible in the criminal courts (if this were child/ family memb; i'd be all over the WTS's ass!!) for every violation and spiritual rape he put upon each of his innocent victims!!"

We do not know if there were other victims. We know about one victim. My son-in-law's dad (the molester) confessed to the police, failed a Lie Detector Test, and he confessed to family and the Elders. He is now pleading "Not Guilty." But, his chances are slim to none that he will escape jail. The minimum he can serve even with a plea bargain is 75 months.

I can do little with the Watch Tower unless and until I can find out IF my grandchildren were molested. Once that determination is made, then I do have an attorney in mind, and It will be World War III with respect to the Society.

I understand what is going on with Dateline, but I am withholding comment for now.

A while back I posted about my son-in-law's JW dad getting arrested and charged with molesting a minor girl, and the subsequent death by suicide of his dad's father. His dad was reproved by the Elders who found him 'repentant' by JW standards. But, behind the man actually blames the 'girl' for what happened. Now his dad, who is out on bail, is planning to leave his state of residence, and go to a state about 1,000 miles away ostensibly to attend a family function. Felony bail orders generally prohibit leaving your state of jurisdiction until after trial. SO, a little phone call is being made to the DA to let him now about a potential flight risk.

The DA may be looking into what the JW Elders knew and when they knew it. But that has yet to happen. In the meantime, I have received a call from the media on this issue, and it is being followed. Soooo, stay tuned. - Amazing

You might at to "Anointed" the following: Those few lucky stiffs who won the "spiritual" lottery and get to by-pass 1,000 years of hard labor that the Other Sheep have to go through to prove themselves, and instead the Anointed get to go straight to the Happy Hunting Ground in the Sky and Lord It over the Other Sheep, even after the Other Sheep prove themselves for 1,000 years. Why do you think that some JWs finally figured out this "Loophole" in the system, and opted to partake at the Memorial. The Society has yet to close that little glaring boo-boo in their theology. - Amazing

JEHOVAH HAS NO ORGANIZATION

the resident jws who post here and of course the jws around the world all feel that god has an organization and that they are it.

further, they ask 'where else would you go' if you talk about leaving their organizaton.

the jws talk about the organization in such terms as "it's the truth," or "wait on the organization," or "don't run ahead of the organization" as though god's divine name were really organization.. here is something that jws, and maybe some ex-jws need to understand: god (whether you call him jehovah, yahweh, jesus, buddah, allah, or any other fine name does not have any organization in heaven or on earth.

To Apostle AK: You asked who gave me the Authority to say that Jehovah has no organization. It is not a matter of authority, as you like believe, rather, it is a matter that the word Organization cannot be found in the Bible. Yet, the Watch Tower religion uses the word Organization with such great frequency, that it often rivals the name Jehovah. IF the concept of Organization were a Biblical feature, such that to get saved, one must "seek out, identify, and associate with God's true Organization" as the Society likes to proclaim, than certainly the Bible would have highlighted this ALL-IMPORTANT aspect of SALVATION!!! Neither YOU nor your Watchtower Society can demonstrate this, because it is NOT there. SHOW ME!

Your religion is so convoluted, that you really worship your Organization much the same or even greater than your religion accuses Roman Catholics of worshipping Mary, the mother of Jesus. At least Mary had something to do with Jesus, whereas Jesus does not know your religion because of its works of lawlessness, you know: pedophiles, killing JWs needlessly from lack of blood, needless death from useless peresecutions, and the like. ... All Pharisical policies invented by the GB who Themselves have no AUTHORITY to speak for God.

Before you question me, you first need to question who gave the GB authority ... and you will find that no one, and especially not God, gave them any authority. The ONLY reason the GB have any power is because nearly 6,000,000 people give them money and mortgage their consciences to their fantasy religion. Take that away, and the GB, FDS, and whole religion falls like a house of cards.
