I watched the video, but it was only about the JW in Australia. Do I need to do anything else to find the video you mention?

has anyone ever posted about the tons of time magazine articles about the jws?
time has been around forever and has been a 'witness' (pardon the pun) to much of their history .. clear back to the 1930s.
go to the time website and search for yourself!
Wild-thing,
Excellent thread ... it is a great keeper.
Thanks,
im Whitney
i've just noticed that some here have been posting for years, thousands of posts, some average 2, 5, even up to 10 posts per day, every day for years.
i am relatively new to the site, just wondering, what keeps those long time posters comming back?
i can actually see in my own case a time when my interest will wane.
Hi Return Visit,
I am gradually winding down my involvement. I used to have 5 to 7 posts per day, and now I am under 2 per day. I have kept involved because I have had a long-standing stake in the child abuse issue. I was about the first person who started posting about the problem of child abuse among JWs, just before Bill Bowen of Silent Lambs joined the effort. I have given preservation testimony, depositions, affidavits, and reviewed issues for the lawfirms involved. I will eventually have to give testimony in court. I do post on this topic once in a while. Tomorrow I am releasing a post on this topic based on recent events.
All of my religious literature is for sale, including my bibles, etc. So, when it is all gone, so will I be gone. I am also back in university to get a degree in business, and then to law school. So, my time and attention to this board and other related ex-JW issue has been greatly restricted. But, the time is coming that I will completely retire from being an ex-JW. And that day is not far off.

toronto scientists cure disease in mice.
tom blackwellnational postfriday, december 15, 2006in a discovery that has stunned even those behind it, scientists at a toronto hospital say they have proof the body's nervous system helps trigger diabetes, opening the door to a potential near-cure of the disease that affects millions of canadians.. diabetic mice became healthy virtually overnight after researchers injected a substance to counteract the effect of malfunctioning pain neurons in the pancreas.. "i couldn't believe it," said dr. michael salter, a pain expert at the hospital for sick children and one of the scientists.
Elsewhere,
Thanks for posting this article. I have Type II diabetes, which is already cureable. However, one of my relatives has Type I, and this news is a goodsend.
Thanks again,

anyone here belong to toastmasters?
toastmasters is a group devoted to public speaking.
within toastmasters there are various groups that speak on different subjects.
Hi Junction,
When I was a JW, I worked with a couple of people who were members of Toastmasters. We discussed their speech training and compared this the the JW Theocratic Ministry School. We even compared speech counsel points on the TMS Guidebook with the points used by Toastmasters. There was quite a bit of similarity. Nonetheless, I was somewhat envious at the freedom to speak on their own topics and not be tied to JW themes. Well, now I am free ... but I have not taken to opportunity to join toastmasters. I do think they are a great group, and help people in many ways.

false reasoning: the wts claims that there are only two birthdays mentioned in the bible, both of which resulted in someone being killed.
thus, they conclude, that this is jehovah's way of telling us that we should not celebrate brithdays, including the birth of jesus christ.. fact: there are five birthdays mentioned in the bible.
the most important and celebrated is the birth of jesus christ himself.
FALSE REASONING: The WTS claims that there are only two birthdays mentioned in the Bible, both of which resulted in someone being killed. Thus, they conclude, that this is Jehovah's way of telling us that we should not celebrate brithdays, including the birth of Jesus Christ.
FACT: There are five birthdays mentioned in the Bible. The most important and celebrated is the birth of Jesus Christ himself. The day was so important that Angels sang from heaven, shedperds quaked, and Kings brought gifts to Jesus (albeit a little late). In fact these Kings worked in harmony with God by not telling Herod where the baby Jesus was dwelling. A star showed the birth place of Jesus. Of ALL birthdays on this planet, it was the most celebrated, and continues to be. No, the Bible does not require us to celebrate Jesus birth in any way, but the Bible does not condemn or prohibit us from such celebration. It is all a matter of conscience ... and my conscience says to enjoy the celebration of the birth Jesus Christ.
Merry Christmas Everyone,

i just pissed off the wife again.
i asked her that since the governing body admit they are not inspired, why is it considered wrong to question their dictates?.
as usual, she got mad and told me to keep those thoughts to myself.
Justice,
A good bok to ask JWs about is: The Nations Shall Know that I Am Jehovah - How? (1971). Chapter 4 says that they are Commissioned to Speak in the Divine Name. When you read the chapter, you will find that they claim to be a Prophet (class) greater than the Prophet Ezekiel. For the FDS is the fulfillment or anti-type of the first Prophet. Thus, by this, they claim inspiration, and speak in Jehovah's Name. However, because they have spoken false prophecies (or prophecies that failed to come true), then Deuteronomy 18 comes into play by telling God's people to reject the false prophet, and not be afraid fo them. But then the FDS/GB are not inspired, but then then speak truths that carry the force of beings DF'd if we fail to believe them, but they are uninspired ... oh ... I am getting dizzy.

i have been reluctant to post my bio because when i wrote it, i was angry.
it's not that bad although a little long.
the one thing thats stopping me is i have posted their names on it.
Posting the truth and using people's names, is not libel. But, if the person named decides to legally challenge the poster, then the poster must be able to prove the truth. As noted above by Restrangled, the process could force the board owner to then reveal the name and e-mail address of the poster to those bringing legal action. In order to avoid being hasseled, I used fictious names, places, and dates for my exit experience postings, my justice series, etc. However, whenever I praised a JW, I used their real name in some cases, because I felt that they deserved the tribute. And, it is extremely rare that a libel case would be brought for saying something nice about someone.

i could no sooner kill a dog much less a human but the god of death yearns to destroy 6 billion plus humans to uphold his sovernity.
the omnipotent god, sees all, knows all just to watch his creation live and die and yet does nothing to stop it.
would you, stop it if you could.
lowden,
You said:
Well i don't know which bloody bible you've been reading lad!!!! At least one quote says that 'gods ways and thoughts are higher than ours'. Try Isaiah 55. There are many other quotes. I suggest you actually read the book you're spouting about.
I have read and studied every book in the Bible several times. Isaiah 55: [9] "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." This only speaks of God's thoughts and ways. The original poster stated that the Bible said that God is higher. I stand by my statement that the Bible does not say that God is higher than us. The two notions are quite different. What would is mean for God to be literally "higher" than us? In what respect? The Bible says that he dwells within us, so he is not in some other "higher" location. Is God higher in the nature of his being? What would that mean? What does it mean that his thoughts and ways are "higher?" Can you explain what is meant to a Hebrew mind when that verse in read in Hebrew? Or do you rely on what the WTS has told you it means?
As for the rest of your commentary, you claim:
And how the HELL can ANYONE try to justify the warring, genocidal ragings of the bible god. Your reasonings are sick and warped!
I never justified genocidal ragings. You are making a false statement. You fail to provide even the slightest rationale that any of my reasoning or commentary is sick or warped. There are a number of things in the Bible that I do not understand or condon within the context of human or godly reasoning. I simply gave some points to consider in response to the poster.
