Why did I leave after 50 yrs a JW
by londoner ini am not posting this to justify my actions, i am doing so for the benifit of any witnesses who are unsure about there feelings toward the "truth".
i was a reguler pioneer for about 8 yrs, back when it was 100 hours a month, befor thet i did a couple of yrs as a vacation pioneer, they later changed the name to auxilery pioneer, and during the following 20 yrs i had a few intermitant spells as an auxilery when i had time to.
during my pioneer years i have given talks at circuit assemblies and had assignments at district assemblies .

Welcome Londoner,
I lost only a small part of my life to the witnesses by comparison, and I feel cheated at times.
But stay positive because no experience is without its plus points.
They done taught me to speak proper at lest. -

I am hunting for the Truth...
by PinTail in.
i am still hunting for spiritual truth in some form, heavens sake i am even considering checking out the mormons (morons).
anyone have a suggestion for a religion to pacify my natural human longing for acceptance (and or) this or that, you know what i mean?

Little toe.
I take your point in general, but I Was talking about belief systems that believe only they have the truth. You don?t get accepted in these places unless you agree to suspend you own intellect and be assimilated.
I have a lot of time for conservative religions that have an all-inclusive type of faith, the type we were taught to hate as JW?s. I recently looked into the Quakers and they seem cool, but organized religion is not for me at the moment -

I think all one-and-only-truth type religions ultimately seem to make you feel bad about yourself.
They may initially accept you as a convert, but that?s just to get you. I?m sure no one feels true acceptance in these organizations.
I don?t think I can join another religion, just looking forward to getting an understanding about God from my own endeavours.
You?re not really serious about joining the Mormons are you? They seem just like JW?s but with more conservative haircuts. Nothing worse IMO. -

Was Johnny Carson pro JW?
by HappyDad indoes anyone remember one of his shows from the late 1970's when john denver was on the show?
i never saw the show but heard about it in the jw circle (urban legend??).
it was known that john denver hated jw's and during their bantering, carson asked denver about his asking jw's to leave during his concerts.

I heard that John Denver?s wife was a Jehovah?s Witness, amazing how stories develop.
On a similar note anyone remember Earth Wind and Fire. I was told by a brother that went to one of their concerts that they made an announcement to the effect of:
?Any Jehovah?s Witness in the audience leave now or be prepared to be demonised? -

What a looney.
by Peppermint ini used to install double-glazing, during this period i was an active witness and worked with a guy who had just come into the truth.
now i don?t know if builders are the same the world over, but the first thing we would do when we got to site was demand a cupa and ask where we could plug in our beatbox.
this would normally be met with a sigh and a resigned look from the householder.

When the music began to play however that look turned to?well not sure, because now playing at full volume would be kingdom melodies or one of the audio bible books. I can only look back in embarrassment.
Another thing we did was to put magazines into areas we would close while building or to write bible texts and JW teachings into areas that may be exposed at a latter time .How sad was I. -

How did you brutally destroy your WT publications?
by Nosferatu inthe only wt publication i brutally destroyed was a brand new copy of the revalation book.
i was so frustrated with the religion that i ripped the goddam thing into a hundred pieces.
it was a great way to take my anger out on it.. years later when i was dating this one girl, she had a copy of that same stupid book.

I bet it made more sense that way as well. -

Green Bible/Black Bible...?
by Gill incan any one tell me what the 'significant differences' are between the old green bible and new black bible?.
having been a jw for almost forty years i never knew of a difference except that my mum is the only jw i know who still uses one.
is it possible that i could show her anything 'interesting'?

My friend who was on a pioneering holiday in some remote Scottish island, told me they had to stop using the green bible. The locals apparently would only speak to them if their bibles were black.

How does God communicate with us?
by JH inin the past, god spoke to humans through angels, prophets, and jesus.
today, there are no prophets, angels don't show up anymore, and jesus isn't there to speak to us.. we can talk to god through prayer, but how does god talk to us?.
so, other than the bible which is pretty outdated, how can god communicate with humans?
