Hello Benjamin, your story is very close to my own. People deal with their JW past in different ways, I for one am jealous of those like your sister who can just forget about it and get on with life. I seem to need to work it all out in minutiae.

What's the worst response a person ever said to you in the field service?
by JH ini remember knocking on a door in the field service, and the girl who answered the door, looked at me and said in french, "allez vous faire crosser" .
although i didn't laugh, i found it very funny.
the brother with me also had a smile on his face, but didn't say a word, as we walked back to the car.

I was invited in once by this guy who was high on drugs. I ventured into a dark room that was full of smoke and took my place on a sofa, to find myself being starred at by about 10 people all with strange looks on their faces. Anyway they blank me an start talking amongst themselves about the impending murder charge one of them was up for. I made my excuses and left.

they told me that i was not able to take the item back, and that i would have to call cannon and get them to come out and sort it.

I live 16 miles away from the explosion . Fortunately the cloud of smoke is spreading east, south and west but not to the north where I am. I can see it on the horizon. It doesn’t look good.

Huge shock!
by Crumpet ini just got a major shock.
i can't believe the new levels of cruelty possible within families who are jws.. a friend on this board who i've known since i was a baby practically has managed to get me a picture of my little sister who i haven't seen for 8 years - the one who i've mentioned my dad said was working on the bethel quick build team.
the one who i've described my fears that she and my younger sister are staying single until armageddon.

JW’s can act in a very cruel way sometimes. The problem is that they think they are doing you a favour, although in this case I cant see why your Father would keep this from you.
I remember when I was a fully fledged and true believing member, I did some awful things.
When I got married I had two cousins (fleshly sisters) one was a Witness one was disfellowsiped. No one else in my family apart from my mum and sisters were JW’s. I sent out a wedding invitation to the witness but not to the non-witness, I had no doubt they would understand. That as a disfellowshiped person they would humbly accept their position and that such an occurrence would help them in their return to Jehovah.
Well the rest of my Non JW family boycotted my wedding and I remember being royally cheesed off with my disfellowshiped cousin.
I now look back and feel so embarrassed. -

If I could meet C T Russell, I would ask him.......
by ozziepost init has often been said that the jw organisation of today is far, far different to the organisation that ct russell set up, both in beliefs and teachings as well as administration.
i've even heard it said that if ctr were alive today, he would be disfellowshipped for all manner of 'offences' as proscribed by the modern-day wts!
so, if it were possible for you to ask ctr just one question, what would it be?

Would ask no questions, just give him a funny handshake and a wink

Where in Watchtower literature are beards frowned upon?

Under 74 - Little Red Corvette is a great number, I for one like him. He has always been unconventional and I respect him for that. When I was a teenager in the 80’s we would listen primarily to Punk and Alternative music, but would also listen to Prince. At a time when music was polarised around ethnic lines (Where I lived anyway) prince gave a good example of crossover. The JW thing will pass.

Sons of JW's return from war without welcome
by Gopher intwo young men came back from iraq.
are their parents really happy to see them back?
this news story shows how the wt society directly undermines family ties.

What’s wrong with that?
If my child went off to kill I would be chessed off as well.
By not meeting their sons at the Airport they are showing that they don’t agree with their decision to go to war, its their right to do so, don’t you think?
Sure, they are trapped in an authoritarian religion that controls what they believe, but to reject war is not such a minority pastime.
