what was even funnier, as i get off point a bit, is that "suck up" joe's wife, cathy, did everything she could do to get her pudgy lil self to dress, look, walk, and talk like my cousin joe's wife, clementine.

Child abuse by an elder for 5 years. Society says to hush. Wife of this elder has an affair with the father of the abused. New committee reinstates elder after 6 months. One of the new committee elders has an affair with the wife of the abuser. Abusing elder trades his wife for the wife of the new commitees elders wife. Elder ends up in jail for child abuse. Wife of the abusing elder has the hots for yet another brother and lets him move in. Uncle of the abused child admits to molestation also, but doesn't want to go to jail. Puts gun to his mouth and pulls the trigger. Still following me? Elder in jail wants to marry the wife of the new committees elder who has a few kids of her own. YIKES
i think most of the elders relied on the "smart ones" to help them out.
my experience was that there was probably 2 or 3 "sharp ones".
the rest were dopey!
I have been an elder for a number of years. When I was new, I relied on the experience of others. Soon I found out that many were just stuck in a rut. Especially the older ones. They didn't keep up with the times and were always talking about experiences from the Second World War. Then there were the young ones that were just plain goofy. Some of them were there, because their wives wanted them to be appointed, and pushed them along until they were. Then their wife would not like something in the congregation, and we heard about it. And then there were those who didn't have 'the balls' to make things right. Things like child abuse, they felt it was messy and didn't want to get involved, because of lawsuits.
i figured that this topic must come up from time to time; especially moreso over here in north america.. as some of you are well aware, i posted a lovely thread about the upcoming birth about my nephew.. i'm thrilled about him, i simply just can't wait.. anyways, having been born here in north america, specifically: canada.

This is an issue that has many sides to it. It has a lot to do with traditions, and each has to decide for themselves what's best? But be aware that many doctors are agreeing that in this day where people are more aware of physical cleanness, it is not necessary. Also it's a known fact that those that are snipped, do not have the same sensitivities as ones that are natural. Now there is a lot of debate out there for men who are snipped to do foreskin restoration, by certain exercises. Myself, I am from Europe and until I came to this country, I became frustrated with all the debate about it. Most of the world is not snipped and few are having problems with something you were born with.
When I am at the gym, many look and ask me questions. I find that the majority of them are actually jealous, because in the long run it makes the 'member' look longer and healtier. And I find as far as men is concerned, this is a guy thing, as to who is longer than the next guy. Just something to consider.....

Welcome to the board. I am pretty new myself, and have had lots of friendly repsonses. I knew I had to start somewhere. Just being able to get things out of your head and putting them on paper like this is a great way to heal. I have hot bottom myself, but I just couldn't lay there on the gound. I got up (sorta) and started to look online for help. This is one of the sites I found very helpful. I also wrote a story to the silentlambs. And the healing has started. Now it's a matter of meeting people and talk and cry as much as you need to.

I cannot even conduct formal family business. My oldest daugher graduated last year and I never got an invitation. She is getting married this year to a brother, and I know I won't be there for that either. I have raised her and we are very close, but now her family and friends are all discouraging ANY contact with me. Whether it's business or family responsibilities.
I am actually considering relocating, since there's not much left for me here in Spokane. I am glad to see so many responses here, it gives me a reason to keep on going. I have considered many other options.............
