or for that matter, if a candidate didn't believe in god or belonged to a sect or was a believer in islam.....would you be leery?
I don't have a problem with a person being elected that has religious beliefs...
I do have a BIG problem with F U N D A M E N T A L I S T S ! ! !
There are plenty of people that believe in invisible spirits -- and somehow manage to be great folks. It's the ones that hear their god's voices and believe He/She/It...is leading them, to lead others...are the ones I'm afraid of.
There are also agnostics & atheists that are mad men, too. I'll have to try and figure out which candidate has human needs at the top of their 'to do list', rather than ancient writings attributed to an unseen, invisible, all-powerful life force that never shows their face or hands to help mankind.

it's a little-known fact that stingrays like foreplay, as i will show you here.... .

Tryin' to remember...what were those words I said right before I got baptised ?
i had a chance to be with a group of jw's yesterday.
my wife thinks she overheard a couple of them talking about an announcement from the platform about avoiding the "golden compass" movie coming out.
i know that other religious groups have spoken out against this film, but i would not have expected the witnesses to announce that formally.
Thanks to the Governing Body for disgusting me to the point...I'm no longer afraid of exposing my mind to new, alternative thoughts.
Ah, Freedom...! If JW, Catholic and other fundamentalist church leaders think it's 'dangerous'...it must be a good movie and book to see. We'll be there !

I love this...
A lawsuit accuses Roberts of lavish spending at a time when the university faced more than $50 million in debt, including taking shopping sprees, buying a stable of horses and paying for a daughter to travel to the Bahamas aboard the university jet.
Roberts has previously said that God told him to deny the allegations. The week the lawsuit was filed, Richard Roberts said that God told him: "We live in a litigious society. Anyone can get mad and file a lawsuit against another person whether they have a legitimate case or not. This lawsuit ... is about intimidation, blackmail and extortion."
On Wednesday, Roberts said God told him he would "do something supernatural for the university" if he stepped down from the job he held at the 5,700-student school since 1993.
So, THAT's why God is an 'absentee Land-Lord' ...He's so busy talking to religious leaders and politicians...he doesn't have time to stop tsunamis, hurricanes and wars. And people still like Him ?

Richard Roberts told students at Oral Roberts University Wednesday that he did not want to resign as president of the scandal-plagued evangelical school, but that he did so because God insisted.
God told him on Thanksgiving that he should resign the next day, Roberts told students in the university's chapel.
"Every ounce of my flesh said 'no'" to the idea, Roberts said, but he prayed over the decision with his wife and his father, Oral Roberts, and decided to step down.
Roberts said he wanted to "strike out" against the people who were persecuting him, and considered countersuing, but "the Lord said, 'don't do that,'" he said.
After submitting his resignation, he said, for "first time in 60 days peace came into my heart."
Roberts spoke for only a few minutes and was applauded and cheered by students. He wiped away tears with a white handkerchief and his hands.
"This has nearly destroyed my family, and it's nearly destroyed ORU," Roberts said.
On Tuesday, the founder of a Christian office and education supply store chain pledged $70 million to help the university, provided it passed a 90-day review of the school's finances. Oklahoma City businessman Mart Green, founder of the Mardel chain, offered to donate $8 million immediately.
Roberts said he would return to the full-time evangelistic healing ministry, "which is where my heart has always been," and told students and faculty that he will be praying for them every day of his life.
"I believe with all my heart the best is yet to come for ORU," he said.
Roberts walked out of the chapel through a side door to more cheers. Regents Chairman George Pearsons followed, telling students the ORU administration is "endeavoring to do the right thing" during a very difficult time.
"This is a good university," Pearsons said. "ORU is a place where love is king."
Gary Richardson, the attorney who filed the lawsuit accusing Roberts of lavish living, said Wednesday there was a possibility for settlement with the university, but held out little hope for settling with Richard Roberts after what he said was his failure to admit in chapel he did anything wrong.
"You can't imagine the people who say to us, 'Don't let it be swept under the carpet,'" Richardson said.
Richardson also said his firm filed a request with Roberts' attorneys for a copy of a report detailing an outside audit of the university's finances. Tuesday, Pearsons refused to provide details of the audit, citing the pending litigation.
"We'll get it, as long as there's a lawsuit involved," Richardson said.
Roberts remains the CEO of the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association and remains a "spiritual regent" who cannot vote on university matters.
On Tuesday, Pearsons announced a plan to separate the finances and leadership of the university from the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association, a move welcomed by many students and faculty members.
The university has been under the ministry since its inception in 1963, an arrangement that critics say led to co-mingling of funds and a blurring of leadership roles.

a producer with nbc in new york called within the past hour to tell me that the segment i interviewed for (once in nashville, tn in august and once in washington, dc in october) is set to air tonight on nbc nightly news with brian williams, that is, if no huge calamity takes place to bump the feature.
this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.
in addition, nbc's internet site, msn, will follow with a detailed story.

What in the world does that mean? "Heads up" meaning what? Like they could stop the broadcast? This whole thing is a silly cock up like the Dec. '05 "BIG BIG NEWS". The fumbled, stupid, build-up overshadowed the actual news item itself. We need to put our passionate feelings about the WTS in some kind of perspective so we quit looking like a bunch of attention starved assholes. The real benefit of this pedophile exposure is that it will put a chill on the cover up culture within the organization but it is not going to bring down the WTS or even cause any significant number to leave. Our plodding along on sites like this, with our personal experiences, shining the light on the WTS waffeling and doctrinal acrobatics is doing more good than 10 stories on the nightly news.
You're the one who seems attention starved. Get over it. Your ass is showing.

I'm glad I got a 'heads-up' and got to watch a piece of history. Bravo! to Barbara and everyone else who had a part in exposing another dark chapter of this cult.
has anyone ever used one before?
?i just got one because i've been having alot of trouble with my nose being very dry and the back of my throat felt sore from it.i heard about them from tv.the oprah show i think.i also was had a sinus headache today.. i'll tell ya it was a strange feeling when i was doing it.i felt kinda like i was almost drowning but i could still breath through my mouth.my nose feels better it's not dry any more and my sore throat is gone and my head still hurts a little but not as bad.i think i'll try using it again later today after i wake up to go to work tonight..
Btw, if anyone is looking for a Neti Pot, they can be found at Walgreen's, CVS, etc. I had trouble finding them, because nobody knew what one was -- except the pharmacist.
They are sold as "NasaFlow' in the sinus meds area for about $12, mine had 50 packets of sea salt & bicarbonate soda (for ph balance).

Science is a blunt tool. I gave up on them when I discovered that underneath what they estimated to be perhaps hundreds of thousands of years of accumulated ice cores was tropical vegetation. How could it have gotten there unless Antartica was topical at one point, which is consistent with antedeluvian conditions per the Bible. So the tropical vegetation suggests a global tropical condition which suddenly ended resulting in change of temperture for that region and lots of snow, apparently for the first time. That's all quite consistent with the global flood and enough evidence for me.
Well, I'm sure the goat-herders, who wrote the Bible, sitting around the camp fire eating roasted goat parts, understood science and geology a lot better than these so-called academics we have today.
The goatherders have proof. They heard the voices of God, angels, demons and other invisible critters that-go-bump-in-the-night...in their very own heads.
What further, measurable, verifiable proof do we need than that ??
