FBI: Child Prostitution Rings --- in the USA
by Rabbit inwe hear about this kind of abasement in other '3rd world' countries...where rich american (and others) can abuse foreign children on so-called 'sex vacations'.
apparently, us 'sex tourists' don't have to go that far anymore, there are plenty of home grown victims that are our own citizens.

JWs and National Oaths of Allegiance Expose' by Marvin Shilmer-Please Read
by AndersonsInfo inthe following three paragraphs are part of a startling new essay written by a well-respected poster on jwd.
he spent much time and money to gather proof of duplicity on the part of watch tower leaders.
marvin shilmer (not his real name) has given permission for me to put his entire essay on my website, www.watchtowerdocuments.com.

Farkel:
Fatfreek,
:As I see it, it may be important to the lurker JW to get his own certified copy of one or more of these passport applications. To the hardcore Jw the one attached to the essay could have been forged.
:Therefore, my question (Barbara, Marvin?) is how many dollars (you say considerable expense) would it take to get one?
How many dollars is it worth to find the truth? Is twenty dollars enough? Or is one hundred dollars enough? How many dollars is it worth to save your life and deliver you from an evil life in an evil Cult? If your threshold is twenty dollars, then I say, you are not worthy of that deliverance. Stay with that evil, and save yourself twenty bucks. And pay for that decision for the rest of your life. But, Hey! You saved the twenty bucks!
Dl you have any idea about the rarified air that Barb and Marvin and the likes of me breathe?
What a rarefied ass you are. A simple question about cost was asked -- and answered by Barbara. There's an old saying, "There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers." I think your answer qualifies as the later.

Yeah, that is sad and scary that young girls are so vulnerable. There are news reports, far too often, of predators attempting to pick up chlidren at or coming home from school or playing in their front yards. It not always clear just what awaited these kids if they had been taken. Then, there all the runaways each year that probably do confuse and overwhelm the police trying to find them.
Are they at a friends? Relatives? Will be back in a few days? Kidnapped? Dead?
A friend of my wife had run away when she was 12, no one had a clue about her, until she returned 4 years later on her own. Trying to fend for herself -- and stay away from the sexual abuse she fled at home -- caused her to grow up (and old) with some bad, bad people who took even more advantage of her.
It's impossible to imagine the horror 'life' that these poor kids are forced into.

FBI: Child-prostitution roundup snares over 600
By NATASHA T. METZLER, Associated Press Writer Natasha T. Metzler, Associated Press Writer 52 mins ago
WASHINGTON – More than 600 adults have been arrested and 47 children were rescued in a three-day roundup targeting people who force children into prostitution.
The FBI said the roundup by federal, state and local law enforcement took place in 29 cities, adding that the raids dismantled 12 large-scale prostitution operations run through call services, truck stops casinos and Web sites.
At a news conference announcing the results of Operation Cross Country II, FBI Deputy Director John Pistole said the arrests were made possible by intelligence gathered during a similar series of raids in June.
"Sex trafficking of children remains one of our most violent and unconscionable crimes in this country," Pistole said.
The 47 rescued children ranged in age from 13 to 17. Of these, Pistole said, 10 had been reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children .
A total of 642 people were arrested. The FBI says they include 73 pimps and 518 adult prostitutes.
The operation was part of a larger, five-year initiative that has led to the recovery of 575 children and the dismantling of 36 criminal operations since June 2003.
Child prostitution has taken on a new urgency in recent years with the growth of online networks where pimps advertise the youngsters to clients. The FBI generally gets involved in child prostitution cases that cross state lines.
A University of Pennsylvania study estimated that nearly 300,000 children in the United States are at risk of being sexually exploited for commercial purposes. (That's 1/2 the population of Alaska...)
"Make no mistake, the minors who were interdicted as a part of this operation are victims of the most extreme form of sex trafficking," said acting Assistant Attorney General Matthew Friedrich .
"It sadly remains the case even now in 2008 that there remain instances of children in the United States manipulated into prostitution by pimps willing to make a fast buck based on the most vulnerable among us," he said.

I do not trust him to do so either, an overview of his legislative history demonstrates that he is essentially a raiser, not cutter, of taxes. This is not what we need.

One other thing that's missing on this thread, besides McCain's age (he's w-a-y past retirement and it shows), is WAR !
You know the..."what is it is good for -- nuthin' " kind ? The Democrats started a useless, immoral war back in the 60's. Now, we have the same mind-set of 'war mongering' going on in the Republican party. Last time it took a Republican, Nixon, to finally put a stop to the violence. This time it will take a Democrat -- Obama!
The Iraq War has been the largest tax ever imposed upon our country. 1.5 Trillion dollars and growing by $10,000,000,000 each week ! Can you possibly imagine how our much country could would have benefited if we still had that money ? And, not to forget the misadventure of Vietnam, how much money did we waste there ? I'm certainly not forgetting the waste of all the human lives -- on both sides -- or the misery that all those veterans that survived being wounded -- both physically & mentally. McCain was one of them and has learned nothing.
All folly. All useless waste. Vietnam & Iraq never attacked the US. There is, and always will be, people that need to have wars and there's always people who think their patriotism -- is proved -- by their 'going along' with the herd mentality. This time...this war...leaders have stood up and said, "Enough !"
Obama is one of those leaders. John McCain, Sarah Palin, GW Bush & Dick Cheney are in a lock-step march to "win" a war -- at any cost ! LOOK at our economy ! We don't have the money to spend on 'luxuries' like policing the world, nation-building and "spreading democracy." Our infrastructure is crumbling, our economy is near collapse and we may take the world down with us. Our veterans are treated with unbelievable disrespect, so are our mentally ill, millions of our people have no access to health care, except in an emergency, yet...Iraq's infrastructure is being rebuilt by us, their citizens enjoy health care -- Paid-in-Full by US taxpayers. They have a surplus of around 50 Billion Dollars. Meanwhile we are in debt for Trillions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I suppose we can just let our country fall apart, so we can "win" a war. The Chinese have plenty of more money they'll lend us.
I say, "Enough !"

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

Rabbit
1st -- it was the JW's that I gave up after 35 years.
2nd -- was the Bible that JW's believed in.
3rd -- every other religious writing & belief system I have come cross -- all have that same smell. The odor of Social Control using the fear of the 'unseen powerful gods' that they tell us we should have 'faith' in -- or else !
4th -- I'm happily, open-mindedly agnostic -- show me.

My Brother Needed Blood...
by Tired of the Hypocrisy ina bit of history, my brother has completely faded and has been out for many years now.
he has been smoking cigarettes, playing golf and going target shooting with worldly friends and workmates, and having joyful relations with as many women as he can.
he got sick and they had to amputate about half of his foot.

Damn. I am so happy for your family and thrilled that your brother trusted you so much. This whole JW 'blood' thing is about fear, either the immediate fear of being treated as tho' you've already 'died' or the fear of a Loving God's last minute 'test' of your loyalty.
My JW mom died...on this 4th day of October, a few years ago, because of the same fear you're brother had.
It seems like such a simple decision:
He took the blood and his hemoglobin was up to 8.3 in a few hours, and his O2 was up 5 points on half as much O2 in his line.
Good for your family, good for him. I love to read the success stories, it gives me true hope that my children and grandchildren will make the right choices if that time comes.

Back to Story - HelpSome facts adrift in veep debate
By CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press Writer Fri Oct 3, 7:58 AM ET
Republican Sarah Palin criticized a version of a Barack Obama health care plan that doesn't exist and Democrat Joe Biden clung to a misleading charge about Republicans and big oil when the two clashed in the vice presidential debate Thursday.
Some examples of facts cast adrift in the debate:
PALIN: Said of Democratic presidential candidate Obama: "94 times he voted to increase taxes or not support a tax reduction."
THE FACTS: The dubious count includes repetitive votes as well as votes to cut taxes for the middle class while raising them on the rich. An analysis by factcheck.org found that 23 of the votes were for measures that would have produced no tax increase at all, seven were in favor of measures that would have lowered taxes for many, 11 would have increased taxes on only those making more than $1 million a year.
___
BIDEN: Complained about "economic policies of the last eight years" that led to "excessive deregulation."
THE FACTS: Biden voted for 1999 deregulation that liberal groups are blaming for part of the financial crisis today. The law allowed Wall Street investment banks to create the kind of mortgage-related securities at the core of the problem now. The law was widely backed by Republicans as well as by Democratic President Clinton, who argues it has stopped the crisis today from being worse.
___
PALIN: Criticized Obama's "plan to mandate health care coverage and have universal government run program" for health care, and added: "I don't think it's going to be real pleasing for Americans to consider health care being taken over by the Feds."
THE FACTS: Wrong on several counts. Obama's plan does not provide for universal coverage, only mandates insurance for children and doesn't turn the system over to the government. Most people would still get private insurance through their work. Obama proposes that the government subsidize the cost of health coverage for millions who have trouble affording it and he'd set up an exchange to negotiate prices and benefits with private insurers — with one option being a government-run plan.
___
BIDEN: Warned that Republican presidential candidate John McCain's $5,000 tax credit to help families buy health coverage "will go straight to the insurance company."
THE FACTS: That's not surprising — the money is meant to pay for health insurance. The Obama campaign tried to capitalize on the candidates' health care exchange by issuing an ad Friday contending that the Republicans can't explain "the McCain health tax."
___
PALIN: "Two years ago, remember, it was John McCain who pushed so hard with the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reform measures. He sounded that warning bell."
THE FACTS: Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska led an effort in 2005 to tighten regulation on the mortgage underwriters — McCain joined as a co-sponsor a year later. The legislation was never taken up by the full Senate, then under Republican control.
___
BIDEN: Said McCain supports tax breaks for oil companies, and "wants to give them another $4 billion tax cut."
THE FACTS: Biden is repeating a favorite saw of the Obama campaign, and it's misleading. McCain supports a cut in income taxes for all corporations, and doesn't single out any one industry for that benefit.
___
PALIN: Said the United States has reduced its troop level in Iraq to a number below where it was when the troop increase began in early 2007.
THE FACTS: Not correct. The Pentagon says there are currently 152,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, about 17,000 more than there were before the 2007 military buildup began.
___
BIDEN: "As a matter of fact, John recently wrote an article in a major magazine saying that he wants to do for the health care industry — deregulate it and let the free market move — like he did for the banking industry."
THE FACTS: Biden and Obama have been perpetuating this distortion of what McCain wrote in an article for the American Academy of Actuaries. McCain, laying out his health plan, only referred to deregulation when saying people should be allowed to buy health insurance across state lines. In that context, he wrote: "Opening up the health insurance market to more vigorous nationwide competition, as we have done over the last decade in banking, would provide more choices of innovative products less burdened by the worst excesses of state-based regulation."
___
PALIN: Said Alaska is "building a nearly $40 billion natural gas pipeline, which is North America's largest and most expensive infrastructure project ever to flow those sources of energy into hungry markets."
THE FACTS: Not quite. Construction is at least six years away. So far the state has only awarded a license to Trans Canada Corp., that comes with $500 million in seed money in exchange for commitments toward a lengthy and costly process to getting a federal certificate. At an August news conference after the state Legislature approved the license, Palin said, "It's not a done deal."
___
PALIN: "Barack Obama even supported increasing taxes as late as last year for those families making only $42,000 a year."
BIDEN: "The charge is absolutely not true. Barack Obama did not vote to raise taxes."
THE FACTS: The vote was on a nonbinding budget resolution that assumed that President Bush's tax cuts would expire, as scheduled, in 2011. If that actually happened, it could mean higher taxes for people making as little as about $42,000. But Obama is proposing tax increases only on the wealthy, and would cut taxes for most others.
___
PALIN: Said a McCain-Palin administration "will support Israel," including "building our embassy ... in Jerusalem."
THE FACTS: Moving the U.S. Embassy from its present location in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem is a perennial promise of presidential candidates courting the Jewish-American vote. In fact, moving the embassy is actually required by U.S. law. But successive administrations of both parties, including George W. Bush's, have made the same pledge only to find that the realities of Middle East peacemaking have forced them to invoke a waiver to delay it. Jerusalem is claimed as a capital by both Israel and the Palestinians and Israel's occupation of east Jerusalem is not internationally recognized. The city's status is one of the key issues of disagreement in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
