I know public executions used to be the rage. Most of the human race was illiterate as well then.
I'd like to think nowdays most slow down when approaching a serious accident to not become a victim themselves.
Lovers of death and carnage remind me that we naked apes haven't evolved as far as we sometimes think. Deevolved might be more appropriate at times.

somebody who's become a friend is an ex catholic....pretty knowledgeable on all the mainstream christian doctrines and history etc....now into wicca beliefs....not a actual member, but in tune with the ideas....mediation, incense, being close to the earth yada yada.
not real wound up with it, not pushing it on me.....and theres no way i would ever go there.....just not my style, and think i am over any organized religion at this point.. a good friend, good person.....he cant really explain why he's into all that except it feels good....but i'm a little uncomfortable.....sad to say i think it's a holdover from the jw fear and loathing of anything remotely "demonic"......i'm a good researcher, and in 15-20 minutes on the internet i know i could dig up all the lowdown on wicca beliefs/practices/history etc.....and i know without looking it up that its all just a made-up job like so many other groups we know.....but i hold back because i'm afraid if i knew more i'd feel really uncomfortable with my friend.....i know, i know that's so lame....lol.

Local 340 was an interesting mix of mostly conservative, intelligent, dedicated and skilled workers trying to practice true democracy in a world ruled by a wealthy elite.
I know that it was folly, I respected the process though.
How did we ever miss out on the Union Wiccan influence you mention?

I understand death. I've seen far too many loved ones die to enjoy it though.
I've placed myself in situations that could have caused my death to save others.
I think I am willing to do that because it's easier for me to risk my life rather than watch others die.
I don't enjoy death.
i heard that amnesty international is saying that human rights violations have actually increased as china prepares to put on its best face- any that dare to cast the government in a negative light are being silenced.. can a boycott do any good?.
Trying to boycott China is stupid. 1.2 billion people live in China. Give me a break. The USA lost any ability to complain about human rights when Gitmo was opened and under Premire Bush.
The US lost all credibility when Andrew Jackson began his campaign of genocide against the Native Americans. Gitmo is just another sad tale of a republic gone wrong.

but boy, television media seems to present the public with truths the same way the watchtower presents its truth.

My own observation--the higher the rate of pot smoking, the higher the probability in buying into conspiracy theories.

What to read and what to believe is always the issue.
I love history but I have no answers for todays problems.

now, further assume you find a pubic har in your food, or better yet, you find a hair when it pulls your lip as you removed your fork from your mouth.
now, you suffer no physical harm, no sickness, no tangible harm.
And no one could have gotten away with spitting in food, etc
Just out of curiosity, how would this be enforced? You thought your restaurant was sanitary, I submit you "hoped, or thought" it was.
