I read a post by JT somewhere on this board that allowed me to see very clearly one of the things that bothered me about WTBTS. The comment was something like, Who cares if Jesus died on a light pole or a telephone pole?
I think those who dwell on silly debates such at that often miss the whole point of what Jesus was trying to teach.

It is so comforting to me know others feel the same. It is a tough road to hoe, but well worth the effort.
This forum just helps to ease my way.
It is great to feel understood. And cared about.
I couldn't agree more.JAVA,
I found your def of spiritual truth interesting, but what really hit home was:I seem to be drawn to people seeking the truth, but run like hell from anyone who claims they've found it.
That fits me quite well, but I hadn't realized it until now. -

Pathofthorns has struck at the heart of the matter. I think that this has partially come about because of the structure of the org. When a small group of men set policy for millions of people the human element is lost. It dosen't matter how well intentioned they are, they are just too far removed from the rank and file. They become rigid and dogmatic.
If you accept the societies def. of the FDS class, all of the anointed should have been included in the policy making decisions (I include intrepretation of scripture in this). This would have forced the org. to be much more loosely structured and I feel much more compassionate, loving, and, well, Christlike. I think the org. would have also come a lot closer to resembling that of the early Christians.
Note: I personally am not convinced by the argument presented by the society that there is a FDS class. I use their definition here for sake of discussion only. -

mommy,
I have never been shunned and don't really know what it would feel like. It disturbs me though, that someone as sweet as you had to experience something that cold.
That's one of the many reason's I've strayed from the "mother" and am on this path. -

today though, i heard a true story i would have loved to use as an "effective introduction" in a talk.
it seems two southern gentlemen were out frog gigging in a very remote area.

mommy,
I'm glad. I feel better now. I'm not easily offended either. In my case it's either due to my extra thick skull or my very small brain. Maybe both. -

JAVA,
it's nice having you on this forum
Thanks, it's nice having a forum like this to participate in.Frenchy's comment pretty much sums up my situation. I don't know if at some point in time while on this "quest", I'll leave and not come back here, but it's what led me here.

TW,
Your diet has been much more interesting than mine. The most exotic thing I've eaten was octopus. It was good, although I remembered that octopi are pretty intelligent (I think they are = to dogs)and people keep them as pets (train 'em too!). I just hoped the babies I 'et hadn't been anyone's pet.
