There is hope for Tammy.
I didn't know you are an x-lifer Dinah! There might be more hope for Tammy than I ever imagined!
my best friend called today to tell me about a girl from our old congregation and was giving me an update on how she's doing.
we haven't seen her since we were kids.
on her third marriage, depressed, you know the usual.
There is hope for Tammy.

I've gotta acouple of pots, and Oysters as well! Mmmm fresh sea food.
I'm there, my local equivalent was the crawdad cage. I know crabing and claming. Nothing like fresh sea food...the Jamaicans had a saying about fresh raw Oysters...

awakened @ gilead .
billy the x bethelite.
I reject the divisive nature of this post.
I just finished picking a 1/3 of a bushel of blue crabs =-) Mmmm crabs.
I'm going crabbing with Priest.
something switch said reminded me of what three of my old jw girlfriends have said -.
"all my friends are leaving the truth!!!"..
you'd think it would make them think and research the 'why'.
How about you - have you had the same experience?
No, but because of my background I was welcomed into the inner circle when I re-introduced my self into the JW culture in the 90's.
The elders I came to know and still respect were old timers who thought perhaps they were losing "Jah's spirit".
The Society gave them an oldie that was a realist to answer the letter the body of elders sent to the Society wondering if they had become Spiritually ill. He wasn't a fan of the WTBTS ruling class interesting enough. He assured the elders they hadn't been infiltrated by apostates...but he was so much more. ;-)
For a while the only reason I attended meetings was to visit with him before and after meetings to listen to his "Bethel isn't what you think it is" storys.
It was the first time I began to realize that my old friend Randy W wasn't the demon our old friends painted him to be.

zombie harmony - a free dating site for zombiesdisclaimer: zombieharmony is for zombies only.
we advise signing up for zombieharmony only if you lack a pulse, have limited motor skills, or feel an intense desire to feast on human beings.
I found ZombieHarmony to be fatally attractive, but I'm more inclined to think I'll find my ilk on the porn dating sites that here.
Personal choice mind you, ;-)
as some know here - i was born in the witnesses .
raised in it and stayed in for 44 long years !
i don't believe in armageddon.
As some know here - I was born in the witnesses . Raised in it and stayed in for 44 long years ! My views about the future, and what happens after death, and how to live life have drastically changed in 5 years since leaving the witness cult ! For the better I feel ! I enjoy living life one day at a time , enjoying each moment , each relationship , my loving wife , our animals on Rancho Sierra mountains , enjoy music , even as I'm typing this ! Rockin' to the blues ! What makes me feel positive now ??
Flipper,
I'm impressed. I was a rebel pre-jdub days. It was far easier for me to transition back to rebel status than you. I'm sorry I missed the Tahoe apostafest. I like to know my neighbors, I'll be at the next one.
/saluting Flipper and my fellow apostates

Namaste
I'm interested in how so many old "Indian" words were pronounced like old Latin. Too bad we don't have more information to understand our past.
Namaste to you as well, please tell us more?
i first got this utube video showing a news report on a $1,200 device add-on to your vehicle.
basically, it injects a small quantity of hydrogen into your fuel intake port which reportedly increases your fuel efficiency -- some 60% and more.
the florida tv station set up its own testing of the device (hydro4000.com) on one of their vehicles and reported before and after economy results.
Galileo's comments are spot on.
I still remember my days at GTE Sylvania as if they were yesterday.
Large corporations are almost as unwieldly as large governments.
These arguements don't hold water. They sidestep the topic the op presented. I'm never amazed at the Watchtoweresq arguments used here. Have you tested any of these rudimentary devices?
Galileo of all names. Do you see the irony in this?
like many i probably hesitated to post anything.
i've been a baptized witness for 21 years.
i was raised roman catholic, went to a parochial school for 8 years, public high school, the usaf for 4 years during vietnam, got my first good job after the military in 1974 at age 25, got married in 1976, went to pentecostal, baptist churches for awhile, and was presbyterian for 8 years during my first marriage that ended after 10 years.
You are in good company here.
I was educated by some of the best Catholic schools available. We're close to the same age. I missed Vietnam as; 1. Dad asked me not to volunteer, 2. I had a College deferment and 3. My draft number was 264. Other than that I wanted to be a Marine, not like you AF woosies. ;-)
I cut all ties to the witnesses 12? years ago, but I clearly remember what I felt when I realized that I had been bamboozled.
Like others have said, feel free to chat with us, but do try to break that wall of text into paragraphs.
as i was born in i have no experience of this...
when you were studying do you remember coming up against things you questioned?
did you ask your study conductor and what responses did you get?
I, with many of my friends, became a convert in the early "70s.
The Vietnam war still raged and we children of the 60's were ready for change. Any religion that taught a solution to the screwed up world we westerners had developed was taken seriously. Unfortunately the WTBTS had scored a hit with the "Truth" book that some of us read when we were much younger. I first read it at 13 or 14 sitting on a rock overlooking a Topanga Canyon Creek pond. I read many books there, including Siddhartha.
When I again met witnesses in Aspen Colorado at the age of 18, the nonsense they spewed not only sounded interesting (Armageddon in 5 years?) but was reinforced by the silly things I had read so long ago while learning about "Eastern Religions".
In those days, most witnesses were "converts".
I faded in 1976 and tried again in the early 90's. That's when I saw the disconnect between the converts and the "born-ins". In the 90's there was no zeal, folks participated like it was a job. A job they didn't especially like. I used that second experience to understand why I had fled in the first place. I've never been back.
The early 70's were fun in a way because of the zeal, the 90's were hell.
