We burned them all on the brush pile. Even the fancy bibles with leather and all the song books. The only thing I have left are those cassette tapes of "My book of bible stories" and the "Kingdom melodies". Anyone have any good ideas for getting rid of them? Throwing them in the garbage just seems too nice.....

UN scandal...again
by yxl1 ini popped round to my mothers the other day, not realising she had the book study at her house.
luckily it had almost finished so i waited around.
once finished the elder shook my hand and asked me what i was doing now.

Wouldn't it be neat if everyone on this board put an ad in the paper for one week. It would have to be short and well worded (or most JW's will not read it). Mentioning the UN scandal and maybe they should check it out. It's fun to dream.......

What shocks me is the fact that many JW's don't even know about this. I wish there was a way to get the word out to all of them. What can a person do? Put an ad in the newspaper? There must be some way.....

Hello and welcome!
It's normal what you're going through. I just joined this board last month and I've been out of the JW's for 13 years. I still felt guilty. I can't believe how long the programming stays with you. I feel better now tho.....once you start reading everyones experiences it sorta makes you know that you're not alone anymore. I hope that happens for you soon. I look forward to your comments.

I've arrived here seemingly by providence...heh heh.
by boa inits my first post and i don't really know where to start, there been so much on my mind.
i've been reading threads on this site like crazy and obtained a copy of coc from the library yesterday.
i stayed up until 4am reading it, and i'm impressed with the way it was written - its just like reading a w only the subject matter is a little different hehe.. i'll break myself in gently with this site over time but basically a few things about me are: born in a jw family, baptized as a young teen, 1 yr aux pio, several yrs as reg pio, 1 year as 'special' full time pio at bethel.

Welcome Boa
I've found much healing here and I'm really glad I found a place where I can openly talk about my feelings. I hope you can relax and let us know you more through all your comments.

Did being a JW teach your children to lie?
by Strawberryfieldsforever inwhen i was young and in school, i would often lie to questions my friends asked me.
things like "what did you get for christmas" or "are you comming to the choir concert tonight" or "why can't you join track" or "why don't you eat our birthday treats".
the list is endless.

Things like "what did you get for christmas" or "are you comming to the choir concert tonight" or "why can't you join track" or "why don't you eat our birthday treats". The list is endless. Lying was a good way to make a quick getaway. I found as I got into high school, that the lying just came natural. It was protective to my feelings. Did any of you ever do this?

Do discussion boards have any healing effect?
by gumby inhi friends,.
i read somewhere else of the thought that discussion boards for ex-dubs, are not the place to heal unless there is proffesional help onboard.
i disagree.

I have found much healing here. I don't feel so alone now that I see so many who share my same feelings. I can't talk about these things with just anyone. I come from a small town and don't trust anyone to talk about my intimate thoughts of being an exjw. I can express myself here. Sure sometime or another we could use some therapy, but thats up to us. This board is a launching pad into our new life. We need a little boost and some kind words. Whats wrong with that? I just read a post by Dazedandconfused and I got very upset. Why do we have to read things like that. I didn't come here to hear that maybe the JW's were right??? It makes me sick......I left all that and I don't find any healing reading posts like that. I still don't know what happened with that post, but I really wish people would not say things like that.......
