Welcome Candles,
I think Devon has a good idea! Invite your boyfriend to join this site. It has helped so many people. Good luck and keep trying to encourage him to join. I hope to hear more from you!

i am new here and i have never been a jw, however by boyfriend has been one for most of his life.
he is now kicked out of the church.
i have to deal with his pain over the experiences he tells me about in regard to his association with this church and i don't know how to help him.

maybe he/she/it isn't happy now, but can you visualise a happy god?
is the god in your belief or faith system capable of happiness?
is it emotional?

All very good points! You said it all for me!
i stumbled on this site by accident ( i was trying to find a recipe believe it or not.
) and have spent hours reading threads here.
i was raised as a roman catholic with a catholic mother and protestant father.
Welcome Toota!
I was raised a JW and left about 13 plus years ago. What a change to my life! It's nice to be part of the "world". The only bad thing is that most of my family is still in there and don't have much to do with me.

what's that one outfit you would almost always wear anytime, anywhere?
from head to toe mines would include this:.
http://www.billthehatter.com/usrimage/ch06.jpg (without the feather).
I got sick of wearing dresses all the time to meetings, assemblies and service........UGH.....Now it's just jeans and a t-shirt!!!!
my wife is a jw.. i've been trying to point out the errors of the wtbts but she just doesnt want to hear it.. i'm wonder if some people could share your turning point in regards to your relationship goes.
with the society.
what made you realize that the society was false.
The book Crisis of Conscience!!!!!!!!!!
probably dating myself, but remember all those assemblies/yearbooks, etc., that focused on the possibility that jws would suffer persecution at the hands of nazi-like regimes?
i remember attending an assembly which dramatized jw's being held, as in wwii, as having to make a choice to either "renounce?
" their jwism or die.
Jonty, I agree with you that the JW's and the way they act just asks for being persecuted. They also thrive on it.
Morgan, very interesting comment!
so, how many of you got presents all year round?
most worldly kids get 2 days of presents a year, birthdays and christmas.
some even get something on easter, valentine's day, and st. patrick's day!
Nos,
My Mother called it present day too. And as for presents year round.....what a bunch of bull........I was lucky to get a present once a year at present day. She didn't want to spend too much money on it......materialistic ya know
