huh....I still don't get it . Just joking....but about a week ago I did the exact same thing researching in the society's own books. It's pretty stupid of them though to keep all the info that proves that the date is not 607, although it is scattered here and there.

587 BC for Total Dunderheads
by Farkel inif you're a dunderhead on neo-babylonian history (like me) you've probably remained totally clueless whenever the subject of the chronology leading to back 607 b.c.
since i had nothing better to do today, i decided to finally take the time it takes to understand why dub chronology on that date is wrong.
this piece of information alone should give you a clue about how bored i am!.

What is the current teaching on resurrection of a Jehovah's Witness.
by Triple A inwhat is the current teaching on resurrection of a jehovah's witness.
if they are active when they die will they be resurrected?do they have to meet so many hours, so many books placed?.
the reason for this question is that my jw friend just had a very close jw friend of theirs die.

Sorry to burst your bubble but XQ is right on this one. Everyone who dies before armagueddon, with the exception of those that God destroyed personally in the past will be resurrected, for a resurection of life if they were righteous, or a resurection of judgement if they had not shown loyalty to God during their lifetime.
However, I believe that they also teach that those who voluntarily turn away from the "truth" do not have hope of resurection.

The latest buzz phrase from Bethel
by SadElder inhave heard recently from some bethel folks that a new buzz phrase is being tossed around from the bethel breakfast table.
"jehovah and jesus are in charge so no one will ever be damaged permanently.".
guess this means elders, co's, do's, the bethel cia (aka the service department) all can do whatever they want, to whomever they want, in any manner they want, and it will be ok because jehovah will not let anyone be damaged permanently.. oh boy, here we go again.. beat the sheep with complete disregard.. dr. j

Actually, at the last Circuit Assembly I heard a similar thing. The speaker (The CO i think) said that we should remain loyal to the organization and that if we were hurt or damaged somehow, that it was not permanent since the new system is so near and it's gonna fix everything .

OH MY FREAKIN GOD!!! MY SISTER IS A FREAKIN PSYCHO!!!
by Obviously Secret inmy sister...... is a psycho!!!!.
she's "in feild service" sending out letters to people that didn't answer at the door.
(which is already a little too much) she dressed up in her meeting cloths, head to foot, in order to be presentable while she is writing those letters.

She's cutting out WTS magazines and pasting them in the letters. I think that's like blasphemy or something?
She's cutting out the WTS magazines ?!?! I think that is considered blasphemy amongst the dubs. I know too many that have a huge stockpile of old mags because they're afraid to throw them out.

You guys are too funny. I don't fully agree with the "psycho" word in this case, but it is certainly odd

607bce. An idiots guide needed please.
by laurelin ini have read a lot of threads on here about 607 b.c.e.
and i find a lot of them confusing.. i'm not an idiot but neither am i that well versed in star charts and archeological finds and some of the threads here (that i've found) have left me even more confused as they often make reference to things i know nothing about.. does anyone out there know where i can find an easy to read and understand explanation of 607.. am i to understand that it's the bible that comes to the date 607 and no other secular evidence can be found?.
i'm not having a go at any of the threads here as i'm sure they are excellent threads, they just go right over the top of my head.. i can't get any access to books or anything like that due to home circumstances so anything online would be perfect.. i would be grateful for any help anyone can give me.. thanks.

So basically, to simplify what NeonMadman said , the only thing they really have to "prove" that 607 was the date of destruction of Jerusalem the prophecy contained in the Bible. They say that since the Jews were allowed to go back to their land in 537, and the prophecy said that there would be desolation for 70 years, that the date HAS to be 607.

Print off a bunch of copies of the UN letter about the society's involvement with DPI as an NGO, and discreetly drop them off in random locations. Then the unsuspectting dub will pick it up, and maybe his of her curiousity will get the better of them.
P.S. You've also got a PM

Do you welcome change?
by desib77 indo you welcome change or do you dread it?
do your fears of change ever hinder you for pursuing things that could better your life?.
the thought of big changes always scares me and i see myself avoiding things that would be a change even if it is possible that it will make my life better.

A couple of weeks ago at work, I filled out a questionaire (sort of), and it was supposed to give a behaviour predictive index, and in the summary it said that I was conservative and was afraid of change. I have to admit it was dead on about that part. That's when I truly reflected on my life, and how I have always feared change, and have always avoided it. So I realized that maybe that was part of the problem, this fear of change that paralized me from truly getting things done for a change.
So, to answer your question, yes fear of change has gotten the better of me, probably too often. That's why I'm determined now to change that tendency.
