The WTBTS is easy to join, but pure hell to get out.
I couldn't have said it better myself
on thursday i did quit my jw studies...now for a problem i had not thought of.
many people in the kh have been asking my husband to do odd jobs around their homes.
he has been doing this for a month for maybe a bit longer.

recently the local congregation had the visit of the c.o.
the local needs talk he usually gives was replaced by a talk he said will be given to many congregations around the world.. this talk is targeting th very young.
kids are being strongly encouraged not to put off baptism and that children as young as 10 can make an informed decision to get baptized.
Two years ago, I heard a GB member tell parents that their children had to be baptized in order to survive Armageddon. He did not name an age but he did say that pre-teens were young enough pointing to Samuel and the Naaman's Israelite slave girl. Notice that they do not have any NT examples to point to but only children that were already part of a dedicated nation.
That's the line my mom used on me so that I would get baptized. Too bad it worked

I've heard the same talk sort of, but it was given at the last assembly. They said that parents should not prevent their kids from getting baptized during their teen years because they're afraid their kids might do something that will get them disfellowshiped.
"The governing body feels that we are very close to the end" This expression is being tossed around freely recently . i have personally heard it from C.O. and bethel members here in Canada.
The governing body always feels that we are very close to the end
it was communicated to me last night that an assembly in queens, ny (3 miles from headquarters in brooklyn) had no baptisms!
what does the speaker do when pronouncing the mandatory baptismal talk?
he says the questions (that have to be asnwered), and answers with a "yes" to all showing people what the due answer would have to be!
This happened at an assembly I attended in the fall, the speaker just gave the talk like there were baptism candidates with the usual stuff explaining what the vow means, and how christians must keep this vow etc... But he knew in advance that there were no candidates, and he didn't ask the questions if I recall.
comments you will not hear at the 5-16-04 (week of 5-10 to 16, 2004) wt study (4/1/04)
review comments
will be in black and parentheses ().
Again, I would like to thank you Blondie for all the great work you are doing everyweek with these reviews of the WT study. I just read this thread after doing the WT and I noticed that alot of the things you comment on I'm starting to notice.....
Commenting on this verse (1 Samuel 18:18), one scholar wrote: "David?s meaning was, that neither on personal grounds, nor on account of his social standing, nor because of his lineage, could he make the slightest pretension to the honour of becoming the son-in-law of the king."Who is the scholar mentioned here?
I was wondering when I looked at that. It seems like every week the WT contains some quote from some anonymous scholar, doctor, scientist etc... supporting what the society is trying to teach. Has anyone called or written to the society to find out exactly who these mysterious people are (I doubt they really exist)? We all know about the wts and how it uses quotes to it's advantage, but has anyone ever confronted the issue with them?
Nocturne.
i thought i would start a weekly column of wts inanity, inanity serious enough to have affected peoples perceptions and negatively changed their lives.. .
one famous wts myth that i have heard uttered more times a minimus question is that ?women feel while men think?, did you ever wonder where the wts dug that thought up from?
apparently from an unamed woman psychologist and the famous department of ?many authorities?
wow ....That's all i've got to say to that
one for causing bad things to happen, and the other one for allowing it to happen.
any thoughts?!!!.

What you are saying God is evil? Just because he sent mankind through years upon years of pain and suffering and allowed people to kill themselves cause the world he puts us in is mostly terrible and a crappy place to live in, doesn't mean he doesn;t love us....
And to expand on that idea....don't forget according to the jws, this is all for the cleansing of God's name from the "lie" that Satan said about him.
i really hate this.
it was 20 degrees on sunday.
now this shit.
I agree with Calamity Jane and Special K as well....please don't send the snow east. I'm enjoying these current temperatures

...you pick up your coffee cup and at the same time pop your earrings into your mouth as if they were vitamins you were going to take.. ...you then put one earring in and a couple seconds later when you go to put on the back, you're confused about why there is already an earring in your ear.... nightmares sure do interfere with the sleep pattern i see.. sheese!
lol well, i'll take a nap after work!.
....when you hallucinate and start seeing deer on the road.
Hope you have a better nights sleep and get rid of those awful nightmares.
hey!
shotguns post got me thinking.
post your story is 3 sentences or less, if possible.
Mom started studying with the dubs when I was 6. Got baptized when I was 14 (way too young) and got sick because the water was to damn cold (maybe that was a sign ). Still in, but trying to get out, possibily taking a few people with me, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
