  No, I read it in your words. You called him rude and dismissive. You said he dumped on the poster.

  That's not hearing things--English is my mother tongue, and I read those exact words which are abundantly clear. You judged the man unfairly. Plain and simple.

  Now. That said, let me tell you that you ARE important. What you may not have picked up on the board is that Maximus is taking some enormous risks--because he thinks people like you are important! Because helpless kids who die of Child Blood Abuse are important. Because molested kids who have no voice are important. That's why he undoubtedly winced in pain at your remarks.

  I'm out of here for awhile, as I noted above. Certain folks are being "trained" in preparation for Ministerial Training Schools later. Groan.

  Didn't "sound" very nice? You "heard" that in his voice? Aha!

  Had he politely just said "No," you or someone else would have complained or asked why.

  How about "listening" to his comment again, hearing someone presenting light-hearted banter about not wanting to get his head shot off? Joking about a bounty! You called this rude and dismissive. That was as judgmental as any JW elder! That would rankle anyone.

  This board is monitored by Watchtower Legal. It is certainly inconsistent to recognize the need for a person's anonymity, then ask him to tell his life story or where it can be read!

  I'm out of here.

  (sKally, you are a sweetheart; the last time you asked Max to give details he took the time to provide what you asked on Prodigal Children. Surely you respect that. My remark was light-hearted too; I apologize if it came across as flip. Just was in a playful mood with that "baited breath" thingy.

  In the last few days I have complained bitterly to a district overseer who has been around the block more than once. To my surprise I found him very familiar with the abuse issue and most sympathetic for real change that would embody a clear message to all that there must be reporting.

  He says if no major changes take place in the organization soon, elders will be leaving in even more droves. His take is that the Society is promising the moon to drum up hope to hang on until the next Ministerial Training School November/December, and that he was personally told by a member of the GB that the school would redirect the brothers' thinking along more spiritual lines, with more attention to advancing Kingdom interests with urgency rather than just living clean lives, having good jobs, and so on.

  I swear to God I laughed out loud at this language-- it sounded so ridiculous. He did too! We both shook our heads at the silly article in the km just out, and agreed that if this is how they really think, they deserve what they get in the way of a mass exodus. It was one of those lucid moments of truth you have. I wonder if he will pull down the mental curtain, or tune out the dissonance, or --

  What does this have to do with the Andersons? Everything, I think. I believe that this issue is like a fulcrum. "Give me a fulcrum and I can move the world." Well, I think this is happening, and I don't think it is wishful thinking.

  To say "thanks" sounds puny and artificial, but I can do nothing less.

  the latest inside u.s. figures reveal that 86% of jw children leave the fold, with some 29% who eventually come back for reasons of family ties, most never "reaching out.

  " that means over half leave permanently.

  You must be kidding, or very new in the organization. What acts?

  Good reputations count for squat when it comes to getting votes on the Governing Body. The system has eaten up the best men it has produced.

  Arm chair quarterbacks are a dime a dozen, myself included.

  How about giving each such story a new title or something; when I spoke to someone about this post, they had missed it, thinking there was just one and they had already read it.

  What was buried in this story will send some people scrambling for their parachutes, golden or not.

  in a thread over at witnesses.net entitled "society bracing for law suits" fellow jw's are taking swipes at ray franz.

  not too long ago, while i was still under the wt spell i also would have similarily spoken abusively of ray.

  jehovah's witnesses want to receive government funds in order to launch a free meal delivery service to help out the poor and disabled.

  jehovah's witnesses will go door to door delivering meals, preparing the food, and also helping the disabled out with various household chores and errands.
