I was wondering if JWs have to BUY their WT & Awake magazines that they distribute door to door? Also, are they required to SELL them or do they just GIVE them away at the door? If they sell them, do they keep the money....or have to give it to the (b)org?
to a very close relative, who said they will listen if i can mail them info.
basically i need to present the truth about the truth, but only things that can be verified either in society print, or in the case of the un, from the un itself, no opinions, just documents that can be checked, preferably old and new and on varying matters, inconsistencies, blatant changes in doctrine etc, with references.. .
it's always been so 'matter of fact' for me that it's all false, i fear that if i try to provide information with just my own mindset, i will miss a lot and might not provide the best info, i have tried searching on the site but there are so many posts i struggle to find even posts i remember seeing last month.. .
I didn't mean for dh to thrust all 101 questions on his relative. Just pick one or two "eye openers" to discuss. Since the JW's put so much faith & trust into their NWT, doesn't it make sense that when they can discover the altered/added mistranslations of their bible, this will start them wondering WHAT ELSE is false in the WT organization?

Thank you all again for your warm welcome. I appreciate it very much! I'm so glad you all have EACH OTHER for support, for I understand it is quite terrible to be disfellowshipped.....i.e.: you're on the WT "hit list"; losing family members; losing friends; feeling like there's nowhere to go; etc. etc. Gosh, what did ex-JWs DO before the internet...where did they go for help & support?! Reading all your information, advice, etc. is like therapy for ME....and I've never even been a JW!
I have to keep believing that the Lord will open our son & d-in-l's eyes and reveal the REAL Truth to them. In the meantime, we will continue to love on them and keep the lines of communication open. I'm so happy & thankful that our son at least has agreed to read some testimonies from ex-JWs. That's a start.....
Thanks to all of you for your kind welcome! It's wonderful to have this forum for help, advice, etc. You are absolutely right about NOT arguing with them. It's like the more you try to "grapple them to the ground" to see it your way, the more they'll cling to their beliefs. We love both of them very much, and try to not make a huge issue of it. But when the opportunity arises, I take advantage of it.
I JUST got off the phone with our son and had an amazing conversation with him! He called to see if we wanted to come hear a Curcuit Overseer's talk at their KH. To make a loooong story short, he has agreed to read some stories from ex-JWs that I've found on the net. I asked him, "Doesn't it make sense to hear an ex-JW's side of the story? After all, THEY HAVE BEEN THERE....THEY HAVE LIVED IT and know what they're talking about." He agreed. HALELUJAH! So, we'll see what happens.....
