  We were invited to The Memorial......

  our daughter-in-law (who is a witness) has invited us (via email) to the memorial on april 4. she says it's not just for jws.

  is this true??

  i thought this gathering was exclusively for witnesses; and to partake....er....not partake of the bread and wine?

  Olympics.....

  i was talking with my daughter-in-law (who is a jw) the other day and mentioned how much i was looking forward to watching the olympics this summer.

  i could tell by her demeanor that she didn't share my enthusiasm for it.

  do jws have something against the olympics?......or maybe it was just that she, personally, doesn't care for it.

  besides not be nailed to a torture stake, what other things do you think they will disagree with regarding this movie?.

  regarding the wts infamous 1914 date, how exactly did they arrive at 607 bc as the date of jerusalem's fall (when the encyclopedias say it was 586)???.

  in my research, it's kinda hard to find the latest, most up-to-date information on the wt.

  have they set a new date for armaggedon......or a general time period for it??

  also, who is running the organization now?

  what is said when they are baptized?

  christians are baptized "....in the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy spirit".

  is it my imagination, or do jehovah witnesses have an "everyone is against me" attitude??

  our daughter-in-law (who is a jw) seems to have this mind-set.

  whether its getting the car repaired, going to the doctor, work done on the house, etc., they all have "ripped her off".

  i couldn't believe this list of cannots that jws have to adhere to!

  i already knew about the holidays, blood tranfusions, the pledge, etc.

  there's maybe one or two that i would agree are for your own good, but the rest are ridiculous!!

  i was wondering if jws have to buy their wt & awake magazines that they distribute door to door?

  also, are they required to sell them or do they just give them away at the door?

  if they sell them, do they keep the money....or have to give it to the (b)org?.

  i'm a newbie, but have been reading this board for quite a while.

  i have never been a jw nor anyone in my family, so i feel like i don't quite fit in with all of you, but hope you'll welcome me.

  i have done extensive research and study of the watchtower teachings.
