Kingdom Ministry...."Youths.. who will you put first in your life?"
by integ in1) our young ones are indeed a grand blessing in the congregation.
they often times assist elderly ones in the ministry, take on responsibility in the congregation, and also assist in the caring and maintenance of the kingdom halls.
but thoughtful youth also do well to ask themselves..."am i doing enough?".

Biking for a reason...
by Evesapple inon june 6th i will be in tahoe doing my first century ride.
i took up biking after my baby was born, because it became difficult to keep up my running, my gait was a little off and i kept suffering injury after injury.
i felt the best way to really put my all into a new sport was to join a team.

Thanks to both of you! The encouragement helps a lot! Also, I should clarify....it was not just a rain out, we've rode in rain...but we've hade torrential downpours due to severe thunderstorms....there were flash flood warnings when I got up, so I was surprised that the ride was on...regardless I managed to drive out there just in case....but of course it was one big black cloud....all of midwest is getting flooded from these storms....it was just such bad timing. It was my last chance to get those 80 miles in.
Right now, I'm fighting bronchitis...which puts a kabosh on my continuous training....I'm going to just pedal on the indoor bike and not overdo it, so I can get healthy again....
Thanks again guys! And if I'm ever out your way, I will look you up....I love the Pacific Northewest.....

Hi Kate!
Thanks so much for your words of support...I will PM you as I will definitely want to get some input regarding that ride.
We were supposed to do an 80 mile training ride out in Long Grove, IL today, but we got rained out...we've had severe thunderstorms all day long. Two weeks until the big day...I am a little nervous but I am ready to do this.
I'll PM you tomorrow.
Thanks,
Eva

I remember when I used to go hiking in Arizona.....one day I reached the top of this mountain...I think it was the Superstitions....it was so quiet and peaceful and serene. It was a Sunday morning, and I told my hiking partner...'people are in church right now finding God, but this here....how much closer can you really get to God but right here...right now'.....That is when I realized, to have spirituality, it is not found within a religeon or by following its dogma and teachings...it's found within....and everything that surrounds you.

How Long did it take you to re-build?
by Scooby injust wondering how long it took/ is taking many of you to rebuild your lives and say goodbye to phobias, etc.?.
for those who grew up in the borg and don't have a point of reference to go back to....what have you done to create a new life free from that anguish to your mind?
did a new religion help or therapy?

I used to have this poem posted on my refrigerator.....it helped me a lot.
After a While
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between
holding a hand and chaining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts
and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow's ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn...~ Veronica A. Shoffstall ~

Steve Lowry...I love your reply and I couldn't agree more....'make your own map, and custom tailor it to yourself'....
When I left, I had also just started working again, I had a 4 year old daughter and going through a seperation. I remember coming home from work to an empty house, and feeling so alone, I cried so hard....I realized I was starting all over, and it was scary and lonley....I suppose that's why many go back, because they're afraid. My sister went back because she was afraid of not having friends again. As time went by, I got to know my co-workers, eventually I was invited out to after work happy hours, I started the building process of my new life....brick by brick. I've learned a lot over the past 9 years....I think Wow! have I come this far? I have a new husband who's wonderful a new son who will be 1 years old June 9th (and I can't wait to have his b-day party )...my daughter is 13 and I'm giving her all the open roads and opportunities that I did not have....I couldn't be happier. I shudder to think of what my life would have stayed like had I not had the courage to leave it all behind.
I have to admit though, that even after 9 years....I still have my fears from past teachings...that's why I joined this board...to find people just like me.

dawn bible students
by bavman inhas anyone heard of the dawn bible students?
they r basically russellites that i was told died out yrs.
ago(not true).

Bavman....if you are looking for an alternative to fill a spiritual void, I would suggest going solo for a while, don't cling to another cult that does it's interpretation. There are a lot of religeons out there, some of what they say is good and reasonable, but never believe anything 100%...you don't have to have religeon to be a spiritual person......

When you were a Witness.......
by cameo in........did you experience the "love bombing" during your first year?
how did it change (if at all) after that first year?
what were your experiences?
-

I was raised in it...but I experienced love bombing the more things I tried to do to prove what an exemplary young person I was, such as aux pioneer during CO visits, or during summer vacations....pioeneer after school....after I had a child...yup...I was a goody goody...makes me want to gag now....

Hello everyone!
On June 6th I will be in Tahoe doing my first Century ride. I took up biking after my baby was born, because it became difficult to keep up my running, my gait was a little off and I kept suffering injury after injury. I felt the best way to really put my all into a new sport was to join a team. I found Team In Training, what a great group and a great cause. Not only have I learned so much about biking but also about Leukemia and Lymphoma Society that we are raising funds for. One of my very close friends father is currently dieing of Leukemia he's not responding to any treatment any longer. The young girl that I am honoring passed away before the age of 12, she lives here in St. Charles, IL.
The foundation has made much headway as far as getting closer to a cure. I'm glad I am a part of a great team that can support such a worthy cause.
If anyone is interested in obtaining further information, please visit my website: http://www.teamintraining.org/participant/steinberg-160224
Any donation would be very much appreciated as well.......
Thank you in advance for your support.......Wish me luck!
