VA shooting suspect was raised a JW! He mentions it on his Twitter account
by WingCommander inanyone in the usa following this morning's shooting "on-air" live tv will know what i'm talking about.
bryce williams (not real name, but on-air name) shot and killed 2 people on live television this morning in roanoke, va. he was wearing a go-pro camera, and uploaded his first-person video onto his social media accounts.
i've seen his twitter feed (before it was taken down), and not very far down he mentions being raised a jw.

Guns like drugs are distributed because the government allows it. They put on a show, but if they wanted to put a stop it, they would. -

bare-bones common sense fighting
JWS do not fight or carry guns for protection. But if they did fight, the safest method is at a distance.

You can be mentally ill and still be criminally responsible.
In a lot of countries, it depends on how much money you can pay and what friends you have. In the US, it depends on how much money you have to pay for your defense, if you belong to a religious group with political ties, if it is a high profile case, who the victim is, and other factors. It is not about whether it is a fact that you are mentally sick, it has to be shown that you do not know right from wrong or did not know right from wrong when committing the crime. A big issue I have been reading about in the news is how many crazy people are thrown in jail with everybody else.

I think that when someone gets angry, it affects their thinking. I think that like never before, there are a lot of angry people in the US for a lot of different reasons. Religion, and conscience and values and stuff like that served as a soberer and restrainer of people, but not anymore. I think that eventually, "all hell is going to break loose". There is going to be chaos in the streets and a violent uprising of people in general. I think that it is people's sense of justice ( they feel that they are being outraged, ) that gets them angry. Given, you cannot please everybody and there is always going be some nut lashing out feeling that everybody is against him. Maybe everybody is going crazy, but I see a lot of angry people wanting to get back. -

All societies, groups, etc., have rules, and there are consequences for violating the rules. In the JW, it is DF. Some JW have no problem with others getting DF--until it happens to them or a family member, then they do not like it and speak out against it. In some societies, there are harsher consequences for repeat offenders. That is not the case with JW. In the US, people that commit or repeat felonious crimes are not allowed to vote, it becomes part of their public record, can never qualify for employment, housing, etc. In some States their record cannot be expunged. -

Jesus saying to forgive 7 times 7
King David was never allowed to forget. Something he had to live with and could not forget on his own even if allowed. The genealogical records show his son Solomon, "by the wife of Uriah."
Almost every JW knows someone that has been DF more than once. There are different ways of viewing such person, it depends. Sometimes a person has a problem and does not qualify to be JW. In that case, the person should just do the best they can and do not give up. That should not justify blatantly breaking all the rules and doing whatever the person wants. God is the final judge.

About DF, it has softened. It used to be the disgracing publicly of an individual with a talk following the DF rebuking the related person about his sins. Public reproof was also hard. And then, the stern look from the elders and the looks of contempt from the others. Now, a person is DF privately although the cong is informed later that the person is no longer JW. Relatives still deals with him, although some people are fanatical and completely shun a family member not having anything to do with him, but that is something that they do on their own. The cong also deals with the DF JW with kindness and encourages that one from time to time to come to the meetings. The DF person is greeted at the meetings by some and also when seen on the street. Everything considered though, if the person makes no effort at all, or is advocating breaking the rules or brazenly breaking the rules, then it depends. But if the DF person is making some effort, then he is treated with kindness and reminded that he is a brother. Multi DF has been discussed at assemblies encouraging such to get up from their many falls. Anyway you cut it though, getting DF or reproved is a disgraceful thing, it is hard. The elders will never let you forget it and even if the person is ever used again in office, it is not the same as with someone that was never was dishonored. How do you live down something like that? You can't. You know it and so does everybody else. -

Is homosexuality ever justifiable? I say YES!!!
by TimothyT inin the january 2012 awake, pages 28-29 there is another article about homosexuality.. .
the writers argue that genetics, the environment, and sexual abuse do not justify homosexuality.
the bible clearly states that homosexuality is wrong and is an abhorrent sin.

It was posted on another thread that some JW are celibate homosexuals. That means that being a JW does not change homosexual feelings and that they can never fulfill their homosexual desires. JW will DF anyone for a number of things not just for homosexual conduct. Not only because some JW have homosexual feelings do they have empathy and compassion and mercy for them, but other JW have learned too, to be understanding in their view of others. Even at the assemblies it has been declared that some JW holding office in the cong have homosexual feelings. This informs everyone that they are accepted even qualified to hold office. They are not mocked or despised or viewed with contempt. And when they sin, it is understood that they are only human struggling to do do what the "BIble says" just as everyone else is with their own propensity. IN some countries, they persecute and kill homosexuals. How cruel and presumptuous that is. In the US people are allowed to pursue their own happiness. Why shouldn't they as long as the rights of others are not being encroached? How God will deal with a person is between God and such person. Some sins, a person just can stop doing, but feelings and inclinations of the mind and heart, people cannot do on their own. All they can do is try. -

The Org is terrified of apostates
by SecretSlaveClass ini knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.
all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).
they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.

I was told that the main reasons why people leave JW is for sex, apathy because they'd rather be doing something else, or they get angry. Very few for apostasy.JW that leave seldom join another religion. Before the net, since apostates could not publish their views and explain their position, they had very little influence on the JW. Shortly after the turn of the century, the WT was concerned that apostate thinking on the net would persuade JW, because it did. But that has been going on now for over a decade, and most JWs are apostate savvy now and they still choose JW. JW are convinced of their position in-spite of the challenging evidence against what the WT taught in times past. JW would never leave because of that. -
