Censorship, when to apply it?
by Blueblades inkathy griffin won an emmy award for her reality show " my life on the d list.
" in her speech, griffin said that a lot of people come up here and thank jesus for this award.
i want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than jesus.. she went on to hold up her emmy, make an off-color remark about christ and proclaim,"this award is my god now!".

The wts has enjoined its members from private research and wts analysis and also from certain internet activities. Is this also a form of censorship?

Psychiatrists
by Blueblades insometime ago a friend of mind visited several psychiatrists over a five year period.
he wanted to learn more about himself.
all he learned is that everybody has problems and that his shrinks had more problems then he did.. the watchtower frowns on the rank and file visiting psychiatrists.

First understand the difference between a Psycologist and a Psychiatrist. The later is an MD who can prescribe medication. The former is a Phd in Pshycology but not an MD.
It has been shown that Mental ilness can be treated with drugs and or psycotherapy. Depression, Mania, Psychosis, Obsessive Compulssion, are types of mental illness. For years the wts frowned on this brach of medicine, but not now.
There is a problem when such professional influences the patient with his philosophical perspective or religious viewpoinnt, many though only help the patient to have broader view with a freemind.
I think that treatment from the right Psychiatrist or Psycotherapist can help the patient.

I am not surprised that such residential buildings will be sold. The wts doesnt need them anymore. I do not think that the wts will completely get out of Brooklyn. Since most of the buildings connect via tunnels underground, I wonder if they decide to sell those, will one owner buy them.
NHK paid a million for the squibb back then. How much is it worth now? There are a bunch of offices there now and shops. Wonder if they will sell it.
The 58 was wilder than orange street, it was the pressman dorm , very spiritual, 200 proof. The BA era ended with the 76 Mayflower.
On the other hand, I think that the wts will sell brooklyn property.

Jesus never used the name Jehovah???
by Mrs Smith inmy hubby and i have been doing a lot of bible reading are we correct by saying that jesus never once used the name jehovah?
if the name is so important surely jesus would have used it?
the jw's say that jesus was the greatest teacher and that we should follow his example so why are they using a name that jesus did not once refer to.

Is it possible to drink water wihout getting your lips wet? Perhaps if you bend over backwards in the dessert. That is why Jesus must have used the divine name because he quoted from OT passages that contained YHWH. It does not make any sense that Jesus would have avoided using the name. Also, Jesus never instructed his followers to substitute Lord or another word when quoting from the OT or reading from passages containing yhwh. Howver it also makes sense that since Jesus did not speak English, that he did not use th name Jehovah but he did use the name YHWH.

Would you have married a non JW
by JH inwhen you were a good active jw, would you have considered marrying a non jw or was this completely out of the question..
-
Fisherman
I would have no problem with it. Most non jw spouses are better than a jw as sposue. Probelm is that one would be ostracized fo ever and ever. The marriage is controled by the wts and the jw spouse rats to the elders. I refused to hear complaints without the other mate present. Especially the siss always taking about their mate to the elds. I do not see any advantage in marrying a jw except for having privilidges. It is better to marry someone that is loyal to you first, a non religious person that is not commited to sttending religious services and having to obey religious rules that interfere with marriage.

Auld Soul:
Spoken like a spiritual man! I also believe in the things that you posted and I am sure that so do many people that never were JWS or know anything about jw doctrine and also Catholics, Protestants, and many other "christians".
WTS teachings and doctines however is just that, WTS teachings and doctrines; The application and interpretation of the Bible from the viewpoint of the wts. Such beliefs are conclusions. I am not saying that such conclusions are erroneous.
Outlaw, no point really. As a jw one must believe in dictated wts teachings and doctrines, however, many jws secretly do not and a lot of jws that leave are still convinced of many wts teachings. As an insider (past, present or future), I concluded that mostly all of the jws that leave the org do so because they got angry at the wts. There were a few cases of jws openly disagreeing with wts teachings. But I found that even iin such cases there existed an underlying personal reason that was the cause. Also people get tired or do not want to live as a jw because they would rather be doing something else. Most of the time the people that do not leave on, the ones that get kicked out are for sex offenses. The great thing about this site is that people are not forced to believe. People can freely have and express their own views without fear.

1 Do you now reject all of the wts teachings and doctrines? no
2 What doctrines do you still believe in? hell is not hot. I reject trinity. Jesus is not God. Jesus is Messiah Redemption of mankind, YHWH is the true God and the fulfiller of his word.
3 What doctrines have you stopped believing in? hard to stop believing, however I cannot believe in dying for God, being a martyr, blood is more important than the life it represents
4 What doctrines are you not sure about? 144,000, fds, eternal destruction, killing of billions, 1914, generation, gentile times, who goes to heaven, time of the end, meaning of the ransom, human suffering and univeral sovereignty, rank and file and many others.

Have you let go of waiting for Armageddon?
by Fisherman inalthough, after experiencing many disappointments and failed dates, i cannot let go and i cannot dismiss the expectation that god will intervene somehow.
i still hold on, hoping that maybe i will not experience sheol and neither will some of my loved ones.
how about you?
-
Fisherman
For me, to dismiss and let go of the belief of Armageddon means rejecting God and rejecting the Bible. I am not able to do that because I have concluded that God is a reality and that the Bible is a book worth considering, even a book of prophecy and maybe even the product of God's Holy spirit. I am unable to disprvoe that but I have personal evidence in support. I have a broader way of looking at things now, not restricted to wts views.
According to my previous post, I too now am unable to accept the destruction of billions, hence what the bible means about armagddon nust take on a diffeent meaning than what the bible seems to mean, however I do not know with certainty. But I do not worry about getting killed. I think in terms that Armageddon is a time when God battles agains spirit forces and rescues mankind. I also am inclined to think that in the long scheme of things ALL creatures will be redeemed even the wicked spirits and evil humans will be reconciled to God.
At the same time, I really dont know for sure, but wts doctrine is deeply rooted and I am unable to let go of such beliefs
I cannot let go believing in the wts Armageddon and I cannot let go believing in an Armageddon where God intervenes.
