Should JWS be forced to believe?
by Fisherman injws must believe what the wts teaches or face being marked or ostracized (at the very least).
is there hypocrisy and unfairness in this because while almost all jws willingly believe that the wts is god's organization, quite a few do not believe all doctines, practices and policies leaving things in god's hands.
as long as private views are not challenging to the cong, jws are not sanctioned for such views.

oompa if you were ever a jw then you know that "private" views are expressed not only by elders but also by the flock. I use the word private in my post instead of another adjective to describe beliefs or conclusions about the wts that are not the wts official stand. I use the word private because such belief is not open to public discussion although privately held and privately talked about. You may like another word but my point is that jws do have other beliefs not official wts teachings.
JWS may cautiosly express private views knowing that they could get in trouble. But it depends on who made the expression. If a leader made the private expression to a jw and that jw complained about the expression, as long as the leader is solid in the wts he would not get in trouble, but he would never be that open with that jw again. The jw could be considered spiritually inmature. On the other hand if it was the elder that heard the same private expression , he could cause trouble for the jw.

No doubt in my mind that Jesus loved people more than himself. Got him killed. Is it posible for people to live their lives doing that? Perhaps on some occasions a person can make some personal sacrifice however living is competitive and that involves loving one self at the very least equal to a fellow but not more. Anyway, is it possible to love your neighbor more and what did Jesus mean?

Is BLOOD therapy really a sin?
by Fisherman inis blood therapy a sin?
if a blood transfusion could save a person's life, would god want such person to die instead of receivng the blood?
on the other hand, heart, livers, kidney transplants are ok. but then again, blood transfusions may be sinful?

What Religion Do you Follow Now?
by luna14 ini am new to the site.
i wish i had known about it earlier, it would have avoided a lot of the guilty feelings i felt when i was df in 1998. it's so cool to see so many members.
anyway i wanted to ask what religion do you follow now that you are no longer a jw?

I know that God is real. I believe in the Bible but there are issues as to what the Bble means and what God means and how the Bible applies.
I try to simply love my fellow man. I try to communicate with God always asking for his help and guidance and blessing.
With respect to what the Bible means about many things, if it is not defined then we reaaly do not know for sure. If such is the case, why would God make that information dubious or equivocal ifhe wanted us to know unequivocally. The ten commandmenst are clear and unequivocal and law having to do with loving your neighbohr as your self.
I am not apastofarian but I indulge on occassion . I lean towards antipasta it is less fatening than spiritual food.
Hope this helps

Have elders lost power they once had over the flock?
by Fisherman inthe wts still gives the elders the same authority over the cong as before but is the cong controlled as much by the elders?.

Before the internet, elders had secret knowledge and knowledge is power. Now anyone even non jws can get secret info on the internet from elders that are not loyal to the wts that post such info.

Gopher,
I understand what you mean but I am still afraid. I dont think that I would accept blood myself, but I do not know about a loved one. I could not allow a loved one to die if such really needed a blood transfussion.
I remmember back in the early 80's when news reports were terrorizing about AIDS and blood transfussions. I also know people that have been infected and ravaged by blood transfussions. I would rather have died than to be in the state that I saw those people living with practicaly no liver. You cant trust doctors and medical personnel completely. I worry a little about BT being a sin but I worry a lot about the risks.
What the Bible says about blood seems to indicate that it could be a sin but on the other hand so would vaccines and antivenoms made from blood and the act of processing blood and using and benefiting from such derivatives made from blood that should have been poured to the ground.
If BT's are really a sin I would not want to sin intentionally and go against God's wishes but I dont think that God would be happy if people chose death instead of life. It doesnt make sense.
