Hey there Pope
Hey Lowkey- I remember it this way:
What do you call an insomniac dyslexic agnostic?
Someone who stays up all night wondering if there really is a dog.
i finally realised i was dyslexic when i went to a toga party dressed as a goat.

There you are Min!!!! I'm glad you are busy with your site! I'm just recently having a chance to be on here more often. I was hoping to be in Hamburg this year but, I'm afraid not. I DO miss the Alstervassar among other things...
Now I got to go find those pictures of Otto again. Has he been in the news lately?
I'll send that pic]

Carrot and Blue Wrench here [and of course 26 you math wiz you].
I love this stuff. I have one but I forgot the setup. When some pulled it on me in person, I ran over to him and looked into his eyes saying' How did you do that' you better tell me right now' repeated over and over again. It was truly frightening until he showed me the math of it.
Good one JeffroIf you didn't come up with 607, start again and repeat until you do.
i was inspired by the "most hated analogies" thread.. a brother giving the public talk one sunday told the most ridiculous story.
i couldn't even swallow it when i was "in.".
i'll try not to laugh while i'm typing this.. once upon a time, in a land far, far away... someone planted a bomb in a kingdom hall.
The only person killed was a brother sitting in the front row.
Ah, yes, a want-to-be elder told me this story saying the brother who died in the front row had just gotten reinstated [and just in time to be considered for resurrection].
After I left the 'troof' [and before the 'troof' left me] I was on the road on and off with a jazz-fusion group that contained a couple of members of The Way Ministries.I overheard these two guys talking about an experience some of their house calling people had gone through.
It turned out to be a story I heard at the Hall about the sisters who went to a house they were told to stay away from and when they got to the screen door in front and saw a dog and a cat looking out.The dog says 'Didn't they tell you not to come to this house',and the sisters run away screaming ! I was totally amazed to hear this story comnig from the Way boys [as we called them] That's when I started having some doubts about the JW's. It took me nearly 20 years after that to learn the truth about the 'troof'.

i'm to angry right now to write a complete synopsis on the following article from the watchtower.
it regarding child molestation and repressed memories.
i'll put in one quote, and leave this rest for you to read at your leasure.. ps, probably worth copying this because i would be surprised if they will leave it up much longer!.
Is someone printing this off and recording it for evidence? Anyone?
Yep! Made a PDF file and it's a replica of the that WT page.
i'm curious as to the exact interpretation of genisis 3:16. after going to a marriage conference in our area, several years ago, there was a lot of things being harped on.
this scripture was one in particular.
16to the woman he said, i will greatly multiply your grief and your suffering in pregnancy and the pangs of childbearing; with spasms of distress you will bring forth children.
What a load of bullshit. Who told you that? The passage is very simple... because Eve sinned she was changed so that she craved men. [Period]
All of that other crap about wrestling authority from a man... where they hell did that come from? Whoever told you that had just pulled that out of their ass... I bet you were told this be a Pentecostal... have you ever seen how pussy whipped those men at? They all look terrified of their wives.

Was this the very first thing you thought or did you spend alot of time thinking of the most abrasive way to express your opposition. I'm just curious is all.
It was explained to me, this way. A woman, when not under the guide of a Godly directed husband, would begin to desire, or try to usurp her husbands authority, to the point of actually wrestling away for control in the relationship, and so comes the desire and craving for the husbands power, not so much the husband himself, but what his position in the marriage represents. Thus, the reason for so much contention and strife among couples, the age old struggle between good & evil, man & woman.

Thanks for making me think of another approach to this scripture. The more ideas the better since we now have the 'freedom' to approach anaylizing scriptures without a dictatorship or one sided thinking.

i constantly get calls from my son's exgirlfriend and it breaks my heart how her parents constantly unload their marital problems on her ,and her mom sits down and tells this girl about her mothers past and the grim life she had as a child .
the parents of this girl have fought as long as she can remember and always dragged this girl into their problems and it is affecting her every move in life.
i would never reveal to my kids what it was like when i was growing up ,yes they know some ,but only parts i think is not painful for then so i limit what i say.
Parents , please think before you unload on your kidsA sincere Thanks to you KLS for the reminder...
My heart goes out to this girl
With my older children, I fear I drove them away because I hadn't resolved my own issues with their [alcoholic/borderline] mother, let alone the WTS nonesense. I wish I could see them now to show them how much I've learned about being a real Dad...
If the threats are not actually ;happening, and the mother is simply telling the daughter that they are happening to poison her relationship with the father, well that's just disgustingly cruel, imo.
Been there...
I was 18 and scared when I got married the first time. I tried my hardest and failed.
What I've learned from my third and youngest daughter, now that I have a clue, is that it's not about me and she needs the right tools from me and not the baggage [that I have since stopped carrying] from my horrible childhood. And she doesn't need to know the conflicts that usually exist in a marriage but, I 'm sure she'll ask when she matures and wants to understand relationships.
I feel bad for anyone trying to grow and mature and then being subjected to this kind of parental dysfunction.

Wow Terry-
This thread topic reminds of the topic of discussion with most of my fellow musicians! As one who lived music, I did have alot to say but it all got too wordy. I'll just respond with a 'Yes'...
hey y'all,.
i recently got this film on dvd and it is so on-point with its cynical look at religion and belief systems.
i laughed 'till i cried.
and God is a woman what more you could ask for
I'm thinking they depicted God as both male and female, actually.
Seems to me Alanis [a friend of mine called her youranusmorristhecat] was perfect for this role as she does have sharper features then one would expect from a totally 'feminine' actress. I don't know but that's what I saw...
