i would get excited when i was younger and would study the watchtower and see that this weeks study only had 19 paragraphs.
(made the study seem shorter,lol).
when a meeting would get canceled because of snow (which was rare) and i would get to stay home and watch a cheers or the cosby show.

just watched the news and two 14 year olds have been brought into custody for questioning of the burning of the hall in middleboro....it is burning right now..... the media was interviewing an elder who was let in quickly for some important papers when one of the side walls caved in while the fire fighters were trying to put out the fire.the fire men were sent to hospital for smoke..... i wonder what was the important papers that they needed??.
i have never known fire men to let people into a burning building before.... the whole thing sounds fishy to me....

I was born in 1969 too! Good year that. But bad if you were brought up in the truth, cos it meant you left school right at the time when armageddon was just round the corner... so you had to pioneer straight from school.

I think the internet is having a big affect that can only get bigger. Maybe not so much on current members, but as the young ones grow, many will check out the internet. And of prospective new members, who in their right mind who has internet access, would get baptised without first checking out the JWs on the internet?
I must add though, that posts that are anti-Jehovah tend to put off newbies. Some of us still have respect for God, even though 'Jehovah' has been mis-used by the WT as an icon for focusing worship of the org.

Can you give us the rest of the letter? I'm no fan of Rutherford, but it sounds like the text you've quoted might be flattery to soften Hitler before asking him to be nicer to the witnesses. Nothing wrong with that.
my uncle called for my dad and wanted to know why he stopped attending meetings, he then asked me what hall im attending.
first i told him my dad could only answer why he does what he does and then i told him i had difficulty with alot of teachings that are curious.
after talking for awhile i asked him why if the magazines are a tool for bible understanding then why is it that so many take it as bible truth?
Yes they admit the org does make mistakes but will never give an example.

i've heard many jws use it at the doors, use it at the kingdom hall, etc.
my question is, when is there ever a bad article?

When I was a new green pioneer (age 17), I went to my first CO's pioneer meeting and we were discussing when we read the magazines and in what order we read the articles. One bro (reacher outer), said he read each WT study article when he first got the mag and then studied it properly for the meeting.
I pipe up and say "I don't read all the articles in the Awake - like if it's just about butterflies or something that doesn't interest me".

Yeh, they could say "kingdom" to her while calling and get to count time.
