Yes, I agree about Bandits. If you haven't seen it...it's a must! Billy Bob Thornton is hilarious!
I also saw Murder by Numbers. I thought it was good, but agree a USA, TNT type movie. Oh well, Sandra Bullock is always great!
Looking forward to seeing Frailty and Changing Lanes. Anyone heard anything about the latter? No one I know has seen it yet. Ben Afleck (? spelling) is just too cute to miss watching.

It looks like the real thing to me. Every year they take one word, like this year's "Zealous" and wrap every talk around it basically saying exactly what they said last year only with the new word of the day. I remember being a young teenager and noticing that. I mean how stupid do they really think we are/were?
Anyway thanks Teejay for posting. And thanks to the rest of you for the laughs!! I'd like a burrito and a lemon lime Shasta as well. (Too bad we had to bring our own food the last few years...I sure do miss that Shasta! Yuk! I always said they were too cheap for Pepsi.)
i have a friend that was df'd last year.
he hasn't committed the "sin" in a year and doesn't plan on doing it again either.
he has been very strong and wants to get reinstated.
Welcome aboard Sally. If you can understand Happy Man the one part where he said it takes about a year, perhaps two is as accurate as I know. I was DF'd two years ago and the elders told me as soon as they announced it that if I start with regular meeting attendance and heartfelt praying I could probably be reinstated in about a year. They told me it takes about a year for anyone anymore. However, what some of the others have said is probably true, i.e. that it really depends on who you are. I, (should I have decided I wanted to be reinstated) would have taken a year for sure because I was an elder's wife and "new better" for what I had done and how dare I shame an elder and my family in that way. It does seem that sisters for an act of infidelity are "punished" a little longer than the brothers. Just my opinion.

I don't know how long ago you lost her, but losing a child is one of the hardest experiences to go through. I can only imagine. Welcome to the board!

Hello Glory and Lastcall: I'm new as well. I was DF'd two years ago. Since that time a friend from work invited me to her church. It was wonderful! I continued going every Sunday for about 4 months. The minister read straight from the bible going over a chapter at a time. Then they'd sing and it was straight from the heart with such warmth from everyone. I stopped going because I simply got busy with other things. (You know, trying to do so much to make up for the time lost being a JW!) I feel I need a spiritual connection and I still believe in God. Someday I may go back, but will make sure it's something "I" WANT TO DO and not something someone else tells me I have to do. Welcome!

i was born and raised a witness.
baptized at 14. pioneered after high school and was accepted to bethel when i was 19. got booted from bethel on my 21st b-day because someone exposed me for underage drinking prior to my 21st b-day.
after i left bethel, nothing was ever the same, and my eyes began to be opened and i started seeing more clearly.
Here's my story. My issue was with my father (very controlling all my life, well enough was enough!) He felt it HIS right to come to my place and INSIST that my two young sons go with him to the meeting one night. I, at first, politely told him, "No, they are with me tonight and missing one meeting isn't going to hurt." Well, he could not accept me telling HIM no. So he started with the, "You mean to tell me you are going to let your boys miss meetings and not serve Jehovah and eventually die?" (Yes, he really went all the way to letting them "die!") I then told him they are MY children and I'LL decide what is best for them! (This was more than he could take!) He started yelling and was very mad at me for standing up to him. I told him to leave. He refused. I then told him if he didn't leave I was calling the police. He didn't think I'd really do it. Boy was he wrong!!!!! I stood right there in front of him, dialed the number and told them to send someone over immediately as my father was in my house yelling at me and would not leave. They asked if he was drunk and just to piss him off I said, "No, I don't THINK he is drunk." Then they asked if he had a weapon. I said aloud for him to hear, "I don't THINK he has any kind of weapon, but he IS threatening me!" My father was blown away. He could not believe I was standing up to him (as that was just something we NEVER, EVER would do or suffer miserably for it!) Needless to say, my father has never tried to force me or my boys to a meeting again!
Not that I recommend calling the police on your mom, but thought you might enjoy the story and know that we've all faced "persecution" from our families.
a large proportion of the ex jws i know and stay in contact with are pretty much down and out.. i stay in contact with 4 from my past.. out of the 4:.
3 of them are long term unemployed.. 3 of those have psychiatric problems.. 2 of them dont have a stable relationship.. only 1 of them is a reasonable financial success.. my perception of the ex dub world is one of destroyed lives and, too a large degree, hopelessness.i base this perception on those ex dubs i know.
course, they are all hard core apostates.
BECK: After reading your post I had to reply...your story is very similar to mine. I left pretty much everything to the ex. Moved out and let my sons stay with their father. Now they choose to be with me. They also have left the organization and tell me they are much happier and glad I left. I've been DF'd two years next week and in some things life is easier, in others life is hard. One day at a time and on the right track, however. I would thoroughly enjoy hearing your story and "making a new friend" if you'd like. It really helps to have people (even if it's only here at this post)to talk to and bounce things off of.
So back to the question, I'm full-time employed with a great job I've been at for 11 years, financially I'm actually doing better than I was when married (actually have some cash in my pocket) and my stress level is tremendously reduced. I couldn't believe the everyday aches and pains in my shoulders and neck literally went away the day I decided I was never going back to the KH. So I guess I'm also in the 25% and feeling pretty good about it!

if any of you come back with the ol - the jw's are full of bitter, twisted, people (in the most stupid arse voice of course!
), i'll reply, yeah, but not as rampant as the rest of the world.....call me crazy if you like, i don't care, because it's my salvation i'm worried about not yours....you've thrown it away because you can't see the bigger picture....trials and tribulation will always abound in this day and age...it is proving like job that we are not discouraged by the trials that gains us the most happiness because we know the trials won't go on much longer and jah will repay us 100 fold for our pain....that's a damn good reward to me!

terafera2: I know your story...mine is similar. I've lots many, many friends and 98% of my family. I understand all too well how JWs avoid eye contact with you, but you see them whispering about you. (I'm DF'd though, so I guess that makes it more justifiable to the JWs to do to me. LOL)
