Spectrum, "...at least..." is fitting. Since 1948, I don't recall the org. ever helping the other sheep, maybe, a few generous souls did, but not the org.
They talk about assisiting others, what, by going from door to door and ignore the scriptures to help and aid your fellowman? Sorry, its' not acceptable.

by Spectrum ini've noticed over my short time on the forum that one of the indictments levied against the jws is the lack of brotherly/sisterly love that they extend to the follow jw.
i remember my first congregation (i was about 14/15).
of the nearly 200 people there i was only ever invited to two brother's homes over a 2 year period.

i am new
by lunarlara ini have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.
the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".
my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

Good for you PoppyR, savor the moments. We should never allow people to disourage us in what makes us happy, these are precious moments.
Witnesses are not happy people, nope. I say this out of experience, why just reading the post on this forum confirms it.
The lives of witnesses don't affect my life. I don't let my past experience with them control me, I consider my experiences with them as that, experiences, with the exception, I always manage to 'extract' the good out of unsavory experiences.
I don't know your situation and I'm not going to ask. When the hubby and kids get back from their meeting, do you ask questions such as, how was the meeting, anything new and interesting today? You gotta continue 'exuding' that happiness when they arrive home so he can question as to why YOUR happy! Then tell him! This example over a given period of time has an effect, trust me.

under74, yes, even a good cup of coffee can bring a sense of enjoyment to life.
There are many things to DO that can make life more pleasureable, we need to push ourselves in that direction and stay with the program. That story you related the other day proves the point, there's happiness in giving, that includes ourselves, WE NEED TO LOVE OURSELVES. True love has no barriers.
Enjoy your coffee (cigarette?) and the holidays.

Weird day with a bit of a shock
by ballistic inweird day with a bit of a shock.
for some time now my best mate and flat mate has been couging up blood and sweating, and a few other things... anyway, came back from hospital diagnosed with tb (tuberculosis).. for those in other countries, tb is almost illiminated in great britain, and children are routinely immunised (including my flat mate) but there are still 7000 cases a year here.
it has 99% successfull treatment rate and yet worldwide still claims 2 million lives.. anyway, i went straight to the hospital for x-rays and... amazingly (as i seem to catch every cold and flu bug going around), i don't have it.

Sorry to hear the news ballistic. One of my older brothers had been drafted by one of the major baseball teams but he came down with TB. This was back in the 50's. The hospital that handle such problems were located in the country (no city atmosphere,) there were plenty of pine trees surrounding the hospital. He didn't recover good enough to pursue his baseball career.

When I was week-end a radio DJ, I would always play Elvis's "Why Can't Everyday Be Like Christmas"at this time of the year (witness or not) and you know what, that song is hardly played, hmmmmmmm, if you listen to the words maybe you'll understand why.
My wife is doing fine, the Doc gave her some good news at her last appointment.
