i have so many questions, i don't know where to start...i am new here.
do elders or any other members of a congregation actively spy on others?
is this encouraged if so?
Greetings and welcome.

dearest people...so far you have all been so very good to me.
i think back to when i first started posting and to think that a few years later i would not only be meeting, you, but so many of you would be opening up your homes to me for a visit.
it confirms what i have known for a good long time that good people are there, you just have to be very fortunate and willing to buy your ticket and take your ride.
Valis, your thread, seven for perfection.

she is older, he is younger.
what's the largest spread in years that you have heard about that is.
1. fun.
Sentinel, you made an interesting comment, "Our interest are the same..." I couldn't agree with you more.
I have no problem with age difference. In my younger days I once encouraged a young man to attach himself to an older women.

well, i guess i can say that on my asian trip i knowingly consumed three new animals i had not eaten before (my apologies to vegetarians on the board who might cringe at the way that was worded).
first off, pigeon.
on my birthday in beijing we ate at a very pricey, fancy restaurant at the hotel and we thought we'd try to pigeon to see what it was like.
Glad to know your well fed. Enjoy.

Is this thread a competition of who knows the most scriptures about choice?
Joshua 24:15 "...choose for yourselves today whom you will serve..." Is the issue really about mankind's choosing whom to serve?

jws believe they are normal.
yet, they feel, that anyone not a witness, (aka "worldly") is abnormal.
for example, at a jw wedding, it would be inappropriate to "toast" and cling glasses to the happiness of the new bride and groom.
One lives for the moment while the other one lives for the future. The person who lives for the moment enjoys life while the other is constantly waiting or rather hoping. Am I making sense?

of course, as jws it was automatic: read hebrews 11:1-- .
"faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.
so, just because one has an "assured expectation of things hoped for," that constitutes faith?
O.C. This topic came up before and I explained this way. I'm a high steel worker, which means I walk steel beams many stories above street level or trusses. It takes faith in yourself to walk these narrow beams. At first, many young ironworkers were timid and reluctant to walk narrow beams, however, through time and practice they are now skilled walkers of narrow beams. They no longer have second thoughts about walking narrow beams though they walk with caution. This faith in yourself comes from knowledge and experience about yourself. So, the question is, can you 'see' yourself walking narrow steel beams many stories above street level? If not, why not? Do you dare to test your faith in yourself?
I have fleshly brothers (non-JW's) and when they say their going to do something, I have faith in them, because they haven't failed me. It's good as done! How's that for faith?

from what i can see, it's nearly impossible to reason with a witness, even if you might consider them somewhat intelligent.
NO!

paragraph 8 thru 9 talked about peoples problems and how they are affecting meeting attendance & service.
then they arrogantly quote matthew 11:28,29 if you read the pragraph they say that no matter what problem.
we have when we go to service or meeting they vanish & our spirits are refreshed.
Balsam you saying, 'how very sad' was well put. Enjoyed your comments as you hit the nail on the head. May you have many happy days with your children.

now that i'm really free with truth.
i was wondering how the wt explains this scripture, since their members are in bondage.
i was told by the lady that studied with me that jw are free from superstitions, etc.
Yeah, like the 'land of the free,' don't pay your taxes and find out how free you are.
