make a frightening example of the weaker ones by offering more shame and guilt, specifically naming them, from the platform. That could help.

"the Society teaches"
by somebody in*** w98 3/15 p. 19 living up to christian dedication in freedom ***
4 in order to avoid misunderstandings, jehovah?s witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves.
instead of saying, ?the society teaches,?

Yup. We don't want to give the impression we are in a
cultsect. But try to teach something outside the "dictates" of the society, and see what happens... not pretty. -

I was really impressed with the slickness of this article, but in general, I'm just paying better attention to it, so they are probably all pretty slickly done. I don't mean that in a good way...
What this article made me wonder about is all the references to David. Why are we supposed to see things only through David's eyes. What did David know? What was David referring to? ---- When they referenced the scripture about God being merciful and having loving kindness for all, they considered it only from David's viewpoint. What could this statement have meant for David, as if the only weight the statement could have is whatever it could have meant from David's standpoint. So what about "all scripture is inspired"? Maybe God had meant for that scripture to be there for other reasons... The conclusion they come to is that David could see how good God was because of the way he dealt with his people (and alternately, with people who disobeyed him) . See, that's where they are being slick.
And I also noticed how they defined dignity as obedience to God. Is that dignity? I thought dignity was behaving in an honorable way, having a good character, grace. They are slick here because they are appealing to the R&F's elitist attitude. Well, dignity ain't that easy! It requires more than filling a seat at the KH and cooking numbers on a time report (admit it. we all did/do that).
Thanks Blondie for all the notes!

The power struggle in Brooklyn, as exemplified by the March 1st Watchtower
by cyberguy ini don?t know how many caught this, but the watchtower of march 1st, seems to put a new twist on a familiar watchtower theme of power and control by the gb.
did you notice the last 3 paragraphs of the last study article?
to me, they?re pregnant with hidden meaning, that is, regarding the power struggle that has been going on since the creation of a plethora of corporations a few years ago.. .

About doing the slow-fade thing, I can completely relate. I've seen a lot of negative comments out here about it and I understand they are just giving their expert advice to try to save a lot of people a lot of trouble, but sometimes I sort of feel a little pressure from the board, even though I know that's not what's intended. Since I'm going through the same type of thing you are, my only advice to you is to be grounded in what you know and what you are learning, and try to make some peace with what you are leaving behind. Some people are disgusted by looking at watchtower literature, but to me, I just put my guard up and try to see if I can spot all of the problems in their reasoning.
And thanks for your research on this article... if I happen to be dragged to that meeting, it will make me feel much better to have your notes with me.

My baptism back into the world - my story
by a wee scots lass ini was raised in 'the truth ' from the age of 9, when my parents came 'into the truth'.
i was the perfect little witness girl, went out in field service - without complaint, gave talks (well the way you do in two's when you are female!
), i was even on the list of people they called on when someone did not turn up to give their talk and would get up with only 30 min prep time!

my first post in this forum
by trumangirl inhello, just introducing myself.
i'm an inactive witness, been so for a few months now.
got put off mostly by 1914 being hammered more and more lately, the child molestation issue, the un-ngo thing and just feeling like i don't want to shoot my mouth off and get labelled apostate so best to fade out.

you're right they are the unhappy ones. my family is a bunch of miserable jerks, driving each other crazy. Not me, though. not anymore.
Remember that even though you're in the back row, some of the people there are really good people, just misled. Maybe they will find their way. Maybe they even know it's a cult and feel trapped (me). Maybe they don't hate you. I never expected a disfellowshipped person to be ashamed. I secretly wish I was disfellowshipped and wonder why in the world the df'd one was back in the KH, but never tried to look down my nose at them.
I've thought about starting a novel or something now, too. Before the big DF happens. That might be pretty good self-therapy.
