Sad News...
by Sentinel inmy mom had her valve replacement and triple by-pass surgery today.
the operation lasted five hours, and they had just gotten her to her room at 8:00pm when she went into cardiac arrest.
the doctor tried everything, even opening up her chest and massaging her heart.

Stepford Wives JW's Wives?
by Pinned Blouse ini just got back from seeing the newest movie version of the stepford wives, i cannot help but see the resemblence of the lady that i studied with to get in the trufe.
she the very essence of a stepford wife and she told me what the bible told me i should do too.
she told me that i should get up before my husband in the morning to make him breakfast (he left at 4:30 a.m.) how i should wash my clothes, how often i should have sex with my husband, how not question his decisions, what i should wear, how i should discipline my kids, etc.

how often I should have sex with my husband,
So, please do tell us, how often did Sister Stepford say you should have sex with your husband? Was it... twice a week?

Always always use protection!
That's great! Should be a really great thing for your kids to see how important it is.

Legal Eagles
by link invarious media reports indicate that the wbts often employs the services of a large number of lawyers and i have seen it suggested that some of the top legal minds amongst them are in fact jehovahs witnesses.. since a qualified and experienced lawyer will have been trained in the art of digging out and scrutinising factual information, how come these people are jw?s?
if they applied their training, to the lest extent, to an examination of "the truth" (tm) it would quickly be seen as a load of bull puckey, even by a halfwit.
it could not possibly stand up to proper scrutiny by a person trained and qualified in the legal profession.

They are biased. I know law students with the dumbest ideas about things simply because they wanted to believe them, not because they felt it was important enough to actually look objectively at all sides of the issue. They are trained in looking at all sides for researching their cases, but even then they know which side they are on to begin with. They are only looking for any weaknesses in an opponent's case, they aren't looking for the "truth".

There are two reasons why I'd go back to the JWs...
by logansrun ini was thinking about this the other day in response to the question, "am i coming back?
" put forward by jw who called me (a former friend).
i said that i would not answer that question since it would put her in an uncomfortable position.

I have a hard time believing they, at least most everyone in my family anyway, would go along with any radical changes. They would probably start up their own new, stricter version of JWs, or jump into the first abusive religion that came along their way.
So, Logansrun, no hot young pioneer babe could lure you back?

My state must have the most JW's!
by Atilla ini was thinking about this yesterday and i was thinking that my state pennsylvania must have one of the highest concentration of dubs either in real numbers or per capital.
i'm just basing this on a hunch, no data to back it up.
also, this is where russel did get his start, kinda scary.

Their growth, if you can call it that, is mostly concentrated with the spanish speaking in Texas. My guess is, in the US anyway, JWs will grow fastest where-ever there are more hispanics and slow down where there are less hispanics. No offense to the hispanic culture, they are just more receptive to the message right now, that's just how it is.
The white witnesses in the area where I live are stratching their heads about it every day, wondering what's happened to all the other good white folks, and why all the white congregations are experiencing such a decline. You would think there wouldn't be such obvious racism, but you would be wrong. I hear some of the stupidest remarks from people who should know better... it's pathetic. I don't know, maybe it's just a demographics shift going on in Houston right now, it's hard to say for sure.

The Watchtower guilt machine is indeed a powerful tool
by Nocturne ini haven't posted as much here as i've wanted these past few weeks, but i've spent most of my time lurking here, or in chat.
for the last few 2 months roughly, every meeting i attended became extremely painful to endure, such that i would come up with excuses to miss as many as possible.
but there are 2 events that really gave me a swift kick to wake me up and realize that things had to change.

Wow, I'm sorry you are going through all that. The guilt thing is difficult for me, too. They play such nasty head games on everyone. That's really all they have, isn't it? Well, now that you aren't exposing yourself to their crazy talk, you'll probably get past all of this before too long, and hopefully then you won't be so bothered by it.
Hang in there!

More Beautiful PHOTOS at the very tip of mainland Britain
by Celtic inearlier on this evening, i packed sarny's, took a bottle of drink with me, camera and headed off to the far west to the cove at porthcurno, one of my particular favourite stretches of coastline around here, porthcurno is the place from which the very first transatlantic cables were laid from connecting the uk to the usa.
just to the left of the very pretty cove, with the finest possible sand is the incredible and visually stunning minack theatre, a 750 seater amphitheatre carved straight from the cornish granite cliff from whence the views are staggering, next on to lands end via polgigga and trethewey, a few miles after which the setting of the sun between cape cornwall and lands end itself.
the lighthouse picture is the longships, with the scilly isles in the very far distance, beyond that is the usa, i waved to you all from here, the most westerly point in the country.. as per usual to enlarge pictures, click on them, they only take a second or so to load, then hover your cursor over the bottom right side and if a directional icon shows up, click again to make even bigger.. hope you all enjoy them as much as the pleasure i had earlier this evening walking by myself these cliffs and sands.. hugs to all you ruddy balmpots!

Encouragement to get back to the meetings
by cyber-sista ini keep getting these forwards from certain ones who i knew in the org.
they know i have left because i was "discouraged".
they are keeping their distance by not writing to me anything personal, but keep sending these "encouraging" forwards in hopes that i'll be re-awakened, dust off the book bag and head on back to the old kh.

How come they didn't use the word "o'er" in the poem?
LOL, good one, Nosferatu!
Thanks cybersista for that reminder to never ever ever give a witness my email address. I knew there was a reason why I haven't done that already...
