I think that's a stretch, even if you do believe in "god". The Modern day Pharoah class? I guess the bible can be used to make any kind of argument, so this is just as "valid" as any other bible-based "argument".

I've always thought they did the awake so the dubs wouldn't look to any other sources for leisure reading. If they are going to control everything their followers read, they better come up with fluff, too. Otherwise, somebody might be tempted to read something forbidden. tonight i heard one of the most cruel and twisted comments i've ever heard at the platform.
the topic was the apocalypse and whether or not children will be slaughtered.
through one side of his mouth, the po stated that the bible is not clear on the matter, while out the other side he pointed to all those old testament accounts where children were killed.

an elder told me the book is jehovah's latest provision to cleanse his organization.. he said soon all people that have drifted, inactives, and others baptized and not complying with the biblical mandates for a jw, will be visited and given an option to shape up or ship out.. he said that if the person refuses the help offered by the congregation they'll be notified of the date of disfellowshipping and given time to appeal the decision.. he was so happy stating that this way jehovah's organization was preparing for the final clean-up before armageddon.
he sounded so convincing that it almost made perfect sense what he was saying.

Shape up or ship out, huh? There is a possibility they could want to try something like this, but I will only believe it when I see it.
i haven't started a thread in some time but this is something that has got me thinking.
i want to know if i'm off-base here or if others have noticed this too.is.. over the last several months (perhaps 6-9) i feel that the tone of the wts and kms have been very strong.

When you've got some desperately holding on to everything and others trying to figure out a way to cut their losses, the mood is bound to be bad. It's not "us against them" anymore, now it's "us against us". They feel threatened & betrayed. They've read what's on the internet, just like the rest of us. I'm guessing about 80% of currently active witnesses are now somewhat informed on their religion but are either in denial or are afraid to cause an upheaval by leaving. No, the morale is not good. The moral is never good when an abusive husband is worried his wife will leave him, and this is the same kind of feeling. Nobody trusts anybody and never has, why start now? I'm shocked they still have anyone willing to pretend all is well. You can be sure if there's a buzz going on about what's gone wrong with the "numbers" (don't you love being a number) nobody is going to mention the pink elephant in the room.
I don't blame people for avoiding everyone. The nice people were only love-bombing anyway, and now the only people trying that are the hard core judgmental types who can't hide their contempt, so it's not working very well.
i've noticed on this forum that a fair few ex-jw's still refer to the members of the non-christain cult known as the jehovah's witneses as christians.
im aware that current members may wrongly believe they are in fact christians because the organisation leads them to believe they are serving god.
but for ex-members who are awake to the false teachings of this non-christain organisation, i thought they may be more prudent in their choice of words, and not refer to them as christians.
JW's are a cult, as are many other religions who call themselves Christians. These cults need to call themselves Christians or it would be more difficult to attract new converts. I'm agnostic, so I don't really care what religionists call themselves. They are all very much the same to me, only some groups take the insanity much further than others.

2) watchtower history as it relates to their interpretation of matthew 24:45--47, the most important event in watchtower history, 1919 jesus's appointment of them as god's organization.. from don cameron's book, "captives of a concept".. if you haven't read it yet, it's right up there with 'crises of conscience'.if you have loved ones that you want to help get out of this organization, this book is the key.. blueblades
I haven't read Captive of a Concept (or Crisis of Conscience actually), but I was initially turned off by the marketing approach that was used and got the feeling right away it had nothing for me that I don't already know.

after reading the thread of "toxic relationships" i began to wonder, are there advantages to being an only child and / or would you rather have siblings even though the relationhips can be painful.. i am an only child and i am beginning to think that i am not missing much by not having brothers and sisters.. did you family size have anything to do with your decision to have one child/ or more than one child?
I have many siblings. All of them stupid, useless, annoying, cult fanatics. I would rather have been an only child. Or rather, I would rather have been born to different parents.

What I don't understand about the "ransom" is, what did God really lose? He supposedly resurrected him right back to where he was before. He lost nothing. It. Makes. No. Sense.
