Faders: What if we transfer our records to an out of state congo

about 100 - 200 miles from were we live, lets say we have the records transfered to a different congo.. no one there would know us, and if we never move there, ... now what.. how would they ask, "if you want to be jw's anymore?

Yeah, this thought has crossed my mind a few times. The way it works is the new Congregation writes a letter to your old one, or maybe they just call (?) and let your old congregation know you have moved there and to send your card.

What I want to do, and I know this is really tricky... send a letter from a fake out of state congregation asking for your card (sent to your address, of course!). Although how would I know how these letters would look, how they are worded or styled, only a Cong. Secretary would really know how to do it.

How cool would that be to get your card in the mail along with your scandalous letter of "introduction", which is probably lots worse than you could ever have imagined! No card, no record, no disfellowshipping.

Who knows? Maybe that could work!

JW versus Christian Sciencetolgy Similarities

i just read some of tom cruises' comments on his belief cs and i found them disturbing.. not just his point of view, but it appears that his beliefs are black or white... no gray areas, every thought was so definite, almost final.. sounded a lot like the jw beliefs in that they are the only people who has it right and everyone else is wrong.. does anyone know any thing about christian scientolgy and are they similar in their beliefs to the dubs?

Personally, I think he has a real problem with women. But this really makes the Scientology cult look very unreasonable. To react so viciously over a relatively trivial thing, makes you wonder how awful things must be for the followers of scientology.

Actor Tom Cruise doesn’t approve of Brooke Shields’s method to get through postpartum depression after giving birth to her first child, daughter Rowan.

In Shields’s new book, Down Came the Rain, she admits to taking medication to cope with the depression.

Cruise had a small role in Shields’s movie Endless Love 24 years ago. In an interview with TV show Access Hollywood, Cruise said, “I care about Brooke Shields because I think she is an incredibly talented women, but look at where has her career gone.”

Cruise’s religion, Scientology, does not approve of mind-altering medication of any kind. “When someone says medication has helped them, it is to cope, it didn't cure anything. There is no science. There is nothing that can cure them whatsoever.”

Cruise went on to say that women should "take vitamins and exercise" and that Shields was "irresponsible" for promoting anti-depressants.

Cruise also talked about Shields’s career: “Look, is she happy? Is she really happy?”

It's not about money. ; It's about education. ;
An educated witness is a dangerous thing. ; In fact the process of education is even dangerous for a witness. ; Witnesses are trained to think of things in only one way. ; They don't usually even consider other applications of what they read/see. ; College will encourage them to see all sides of a subject. ; BAD BAD BAD for dubs.

And it's also about selfish greed. They don't really care if anybody leaves or stays, just as long as they can take the most they can from them. They are drooling over 18 year old kids, who don't legally need to be in school, and their lives are not in full swing yet, no kids, no marriage, no mortgage, no medical bills or health concerns. They want to exploit these poor stupid kids and have them do most of the work for a few years, and who cares when they become washed up, bitter and in a great deal of debt. Hopefully the boys would have been made an elder by then, or else they will get the additional bonus of forever being looked down on for being poor and stupid. They don't care how things turn out for these kids. It's a cycle that will continue and will never change. Every year there are new kids to exploit. I'm surprised they haven't gone back to enforcing that women not work but pioneer instead. But, since women have babies and things to care for, I guess they can't get as much work out of them as the teenagers. This just makes my blood boil. I hate hearing about this. I hate that thousands of kids lives will be f&*cked up because of this, because their parents are too stupid to know better.

Does the Ransom Sacrifice doctrine add up?

that the sacrifice of jesus' perfect human life paid back the debt of the perfect human life which our forefather adam had forfeited.. but is it truly a 'corresponding sacrifice'?.

Wolverines, Sociopaths

i've been doing some reading about sociopaths or people who have "antisocial personality disorder.

" one book states 1 in 25 people are sociopathic.. this basically means someone without a conscience facility.

someone who cannot empathsize with others.

well my friend is getting in alot of trouble--his ex's step-dad ratted him out to my dad and now the sh* t is hittin the fan.

just from him getting in trouble about 6 other people will be--one is one of my best friends--this bites!

i just read david_10's thread "my mother died..." 13 years ago i called my mother, after i had left the lie because i'm gay.

i hadn't been disfellowshipped at that point, but she told me she didn't want to keep in contact because "being homosexual is one of the worst things.

" i told her ok and have never tried to contact her again.

I guess that's part of the dilemna. I still have a lot of anger because of my childhood and not having such a manipulative person in my has a lot of advantages. I feel like I should care because she's mother, but I enjoy not having her in my life. What a terrible thing for a son to say.

Everybody's situation with their parents is different, but with her generation, the issue of homosexuality is especially shaming for them. I don't understand why but it is. They would feel better about having a criminal for a son, some of them. If it was me, I wouldn't worry about it. If she was never there for you she probably never will be. I understand you want her to know you still care about her, but it will probably just upset her all over again, and she might upset you all over again. You can't really know how she's going to react, but if she is coming around, she probably would have tried to contact you already.

I don't know. Whatever you decide to do, good luck! Dysfunctional families, so much fun!

This is a week 5 comment, but did anyone notice they equated missing meetings to being a part of babylon the great? I don't know if that's a new thought, but wow, what a stretch. Since people in babylon the great have the same attitude about missing church services, if JWs have it, they are part of BOG. Ok. so, why don't you disfellowship them for it?

Do you ever think that you will stop JW-bashing and get on with your life?

i was recently talking to a girl in my psychology class who told me that she use to be a jw and was df'd in the mid 1990's.

this girl shocked me because usually ex-jws are so unhappy and miserable and spend most of their time complaining about the "evil" wt society.

she told me that when she was df'd alot of ex-jws swarmed towards her trying to get her to "bash" the wt but she refused.

Please not another "get over it" post. This might not be, but that title...

I don't see why those are our only choices. Can't we get on with our life while bashing JWs?

It is unhealththy to continue to bash and bash and bash a group of people expecting them to change.

I suppose that could be true when we are talking about an individual person or family or something, but a religious movement? If it wasn't for the "bashing" on the internet, I would still think most of their beliefs were true, but because of the "bashing" I was able to come around. So I suppose I want to give some of that back.

But I see your point about years and years later... I can't wait for the day I don't think about them very much. But as a fader, that just isn't an option right now.

Happiness and misery doesn't depend on how whether you bash a religion or not. You can be just as miserable without a religion to bash, and you can happily bash a religion.

Thinking you can get your relatives to change is probably going to lead to disappointment. Hoping for the best, maybe. But expecting them to change is going to make a person miserable. I don't see many ex-JWs spending years on this. I would take great satisfaction in seeing this religion shut down, or in seeing my relatives figure things out, but my happiness doesn't depend on that.

People deal with it in different ways. Some people maybe don't need to talk about things. Some people need to talk about them in order to work out their feelings and deal with them in a healthy way. I'm surprised a psychology major wouldn't understand that simple thing.
