  Things Learned Along the Way

  i have collected sayings, homilies, whatever along the way that crystallize something bigger i learned.

  i will post a few every day.

  if you have one, please share it.. if you lie down with dogs, you'll get up with fleas.. to belittle is to be little.. somewhere, i got the idea if i just took care of others, i would be taken care of.. blondie

  i was raised a jw, seriously studied the bible, consumed it, and in my decades, found very few jws or non-jws who knew it as well as i. i love god's word, the bible.

  i left the jws as a teen/young man, df'd for fornication, with no witnesses, and i never showed for the judicial commitee.

  when i came back in (in my 20s) and was re-instated, i was "super jw", very zealous, and very vocal and knowlegeable of the bible.

  Boa,

  Thanks for the kind words. Getting out of the org is one of the best things I've ever done in my life, no doubts, no regrets. I wish you the strength to do so as soon as you are able.

  As for the ST stuff, the similarities you speak of are interesting, I'd missed that comparison until you brought it up- very true. As for "my" pic, my GF and many others say I bear a striking resemblence to Jean-Luc- I suppose that's a good thing.

  Why, yes, I am "near Philly". About 2 hours away. Your sis is yet another in the "selective" DA process? Whadda buncha hypocrites they are! For every person like me or your sis, or others on this board who have been DAd without their consent, nor desire, there are dozens who do the same things, and, for whatever reason, don't get DAd or DFd. It depends on who you know, how quietly you left the org, how much you shamed them by proving they teach commands of men as sayings of God, etc.

  Anyway, glad to be out- one of the BEST things I've ever done!!

  jesus said, "you will all know my followers by they're works".

  in a recent thread that i made, which lie hurt you the most, most posters presented they're arguments, and pretty much all of them said that the "lack of love" was horrendous.

  why don't you write out your lack of love stories so that the lurkers can visit and see what this destructive high-control-group (aka, cult) does to the emotional health of sheep who are sick and weak.

  First, a little about my childhood- The details of my life are quite inconsequential...My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low-grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a 15 year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims, like he invented the question mark. Sometimes, he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy - the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical: summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring, we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent, I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds. Pretty standard, really.

  What if.....

  i can't help but discover things that make me have serious doubts about jehovah's witnesses as a whole.

  but... and this is a big but.... what if they are god's organisation?

  i feel as if i'm being blackmailed... if i don't make a go of this religion i'm effectivly killing my young daughter if it is jehovah's organisation.. my mum ( a pioneer and a lovely woman!

  Would Jesus approve of that? Is that what Jesus taught? Didn?t Jesus teach that HE was the ONLY mediator between God and men? (1 Timothy 2:5). The Governing Body and Watch Tower Society put themselves in the place of Mediator (2 Thessalonians 2:3,4), attempting to usurp Jesus as mediator: http://www.escapefromwatchtower.com/whom.html

  The JWs also regularly go beyond what is written, the examples are far too numerous too mention here, for just a few examples- the ?organization? now teaches that one can?t be a Ministerial Servant or Elder if they had a vasectomy, they tell husbands and wives what they can and can?t do in their marriage bed, etc. Compare to Galations 1:6-9, John 5:39-44, 1 Timothy 4:1-4, 1 John 4:1-3.

  Who, then are the ?Apostates?? It is those who go beyond God?s word the Bible, the things written. Doesn?t it stand to reason that since YHWH used numerous men that he inspired to write his words over thousands of years, that YHWH would make SURE he wrote EVERYTHING that was IMPORTANT for us to know? The WTC are the Apostates, because they go beyond what is written", breaking God's LAW.

  Should you leave the Jehovah?s Witnesses, just another part of ?Babylon the Great?, keep in mind that you will still have a relationship with your creator, and his son. Don?t turn your back on the Bible because a false religion (the JWs) twisted it?s contents! That would be like throwing out the baby with the bath water.

  It is what leads to salvation that is important, not all the manufactured interpretation of Scripture to try to make it fit an organization?s pre- conceived notions. We should not turn our backs on what is important for salvation- Faith in God, service to him, faith in his Son's ransom sacrifice's power to redeem us, practicing the fruitages of the Holy Spirit, prayer, doing our utmost to avoid sin, and helping others do the same are what matter. It's all there in the NT. Want some citations? You can look these up online at http://bible.gospelcom.net/bible/ there's 17 Bible versions available there.

  Putting faith in God (YHWH), his Son, Jesus Christ, his Son's ransom sacrifice's power to redeem us, and his inspired word the Holy Bible - Hebrews 10:12, 26; 11:6; 11:1-40; John 3:16-21; Romans chapters 4, 5 & 6; Romans 10: 9-17; Acts 4:12; 10:43; Matthew 26:28; Mark 3:28-30; James 4:17; 5:15; 1 John 4:9-14;Luke 13:23,24; 1 Timothy 4:10.

  Real faith compels us to works, service to God - James 2:26; Acts 26:20; Hebrews 10: 23-25.

  Practicing the fruitages of the Holy Spirit, doing our utmost to avoid sin -Galatians 5:19-25;1 Corinthians 6: 9,10; Matthew 12:31.

  Prayer - Matthew 5:44, 6:9, 26:41; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; James 5:16; Romans 12:21; Phillipians 4:6; Colossians 4:2; 1 Peter 4:7.

  There are many more scriptures that provide insight on these things necessary for salvation. Everthing else outside the scope of these things is principle, prophesy, trivia and dissertation. It's all a matter of setting priorities and importance.

  I wish you well in getting out of ?Babylon the Great?, the sooner, the better. Then you can do your research with an open mind, and help others to do the same.

  my friend was kidding around this weekend that he would like to run for president (we were watching some lame political commentary on the news.

  ) i tried to explain to him that he had way too many skeletons in his closet to ever be elected, but he thinks people would vote for him on his sheer honesty.

  i gave him a "mock" interview that went something like this:.

  i was reading an article titled "saddam's interogators" on page 22 of the april 2004 issue of soldier of fortune magazine, and came across what i thought was a very interesting paragraph: (page 27) "the interrogators will offer simple inducements.

  if saddam answers a series of questions, he will be promised uninterrupted sleep.

  and possibley a change in his carefully monitored diet.

  OK, I'm not sure what happened- I replied to your post but all of the text was omitted. Rather than re-type all that, here's the gist:

  1)- There are numerous fallacies and conundrums in your assertions. I suggest you check this website out and see what I mean:

  2)- There are NO scriptures that state what you ASSERT they are saying- Go back and read Genesis with an open mind, particualarly Gen 3:8-13. Search for the words "God didn't know" and "apple" in the book, as well as any Scriptural proof for your other assertions.

  Jumping Off Cliffs

  while growing up, i can't remember the countless times my mother said "so, if you're friends all decided to jump off a cliff - would you?

  " in response to my comment that all my friends were "doing it".. now, as an adult, i realize that the jw's do exactly the same thing, blindly following their predecessors, family & friends regardless of whether it's right or wrong, or whether it will be harmful to them mentally or emotionally.

  perhaps that's an indication of society in general - ergo so many different cliques/groups/sects.. now that you've left the jw's, do you find that you still blindly follow?

  All my friends are outside the JWs, and my siblings. Only a few of my family- Mom, Aunts, Cousins, etc are in- and they (with the occasional exception of Mom) won't speak to me anyway, so I have no problems with the issue you raised.

  Still, I have no problem making the local JWs uncomfortable in public places- walk up, say hi, start talking, just to see them turn red and run!! When an especially juicy tidbit is known about them, I make it public- very loudly!!

  I find it very amusing to turn their "punishmemnt" back on them.
