Amazing, I met a former dub at school today.
by Atilla inin my one literature class today we exchanged our writing papers so that they could be analyzed.
i exchanged my paper with this somewhat older women(about 30) who is somewhat an independent type student given that she is going back to school and is married with two children.
my paper briefly mentioned something about dubs and she admitted that she was raised a witness as well but left when she was 18. strangely, even before i handed her the paper, i had this inclination that she had been touched by the all important "truth".

People are as unique as their fingerprints. Some jay dubs decide to have nothing to do with religion, or even spirituality, upon leaving. Others leave the JW religion, but continue ion their spirituality, some take up another religion, others are somewhere between.
As for casual conversation, I have found that if the subject of religion or spirituality comes up, feel free to discuss it. You may find that after talking about it a lot, it will help you to deal with leaving, heal old wounds, and develop your own sense of spirituality.
My only caution is that you should do your best to not come across too angry or bitter- that can be a real turn-off to people who haven't "been there".

Their explantation (I asked this years ago, when I wuzajaydaubya) was this- In years when the 1st Full moon (after the Spring equinox) appears over Jerusalem, at times, it occurs before sundown, at others, it occurs after sundown. Since sundown is the beginning of the Jewish day, this acounts for the occasional discrepancy betrween when Jews and jaydubyahs observe.

What women are really saying...Listen and learn guys!
by RubyTuesday init's your decision = the correct decision should be obvious by now.. do what you want = you'll pay for this later.. we need to talk = i need to complain.. sure go ahead = i don't want you to.. i'm not upset = of course i'm upset, you moron!.
you're so manly = you need a shave and you sweat a lot.. you're certainly attentive tonight = is sex all you ever think about?.
be romantic, turn out the lights = i have flabby thighs.. this kitchen is so inconvenient = i want a new house.. i want new curtains = and carpeting, and furniture, and wallpaper...... hang the picture there = no, i mean hang it there!.

WORDS WOMEN USE
******************FINE This is the word women use to end an argument when they feel they are right and you need to shut up. Never use "fine" to describe how a woman looks - this will cause you to have one of those arguments.
FIVE MINUTES This is half an hour. It is equivalent to the five minutes that your football game is going to last before you take out the trash, so it's an even trade.
NOTHING This means "something," and you should be on your toes. "Nothing" is usually used to describe the feeling a woman has of wanting to turn you inside out, upside down, and backwards. "Nothing" usually signifies an argument that will last "Five Minutes" and end with "Fine" GO AHEAD (With Raised Eyebrows! ) This is a dare. One that will result in a woman getting upset over "Nothing" and will end with the word "Fine"
GO AHEAD (Normal Eyebrows)
This means "I give up" or "do what you want because I don't care" You will get a "Raised Eyebrow Go Ahead" in just a few minutes, followed by "Nothing" and "Fine" and she will talk to you in about "Five Minutes" when she cools off.
LOUD SIGH This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot at that moment, and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing" SOFT SIGH Again, not a word, but a non-verbal statement. "Soft Sighs" mean that she is content. Your best bet is to not move or breathe, and she will stay content. THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before paying you back for whatever it is that you have done. "That's Okay" is often used with the word "Fine" and in conjunction with a "Raised Eyebrow."
GO AHEAD!At some point in the near future, you are going to be in some mighty big trouble. PLEASE DO
This is not a statement, it is an offer. A woman is giving you the chance to come up with whatever excuse or reason you have for doing whatever it is that you have done. You have a fair chance with the truth, so be careful and you shouldn't get a "That's Okay"
THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not! faint. Just say you're welcome.
THANKS A LOT This is much different from "Thanks." A woman will say, "Thanks A Lot" when she is really ticked off at you. It signifies that you have offended her in some callous way, and will be followed by the "Loud Sigh.." Be careful not to ask what is wrong after the "Loud Sigh," as she will only tell you "Nothing" -

Yes, me and my GF watched it and I agree- 2 of them were good, one was OK, the rest wee lounge singers.
The best part of AI, IMHO, is the qualifying rounds - too funny!! Gotta love "William Hung', and the others who REALLY believe they can sing!! ROTFLMAO!!!

Ithaca
When you start on your journey to Ithaca,
Then pray that that road is long,
Full of adventure, full of knowledge,
Do not fear the Lestrygonians
And the Cyclops and the angry Poseidon.
You will never meet such as these on your path,
If your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine
Emotion touches your body and your spirit,
If your soul does not raise them up before you.
Then pray that the road is long,
That the summer mornings are many,
That you will enter ports seen for the first time
With such pleasure, with such joy!
Stop at Phoenician markets,
And purchase fine merchandise,
Mother-of-pearl and corals, amber and ebony,
And pleasurable perfumes of all kinds,
Visit hosts of Egyptian cities,
To learn and learn from those who have knowledge.
Always keep Ithaca fixed in your mind.
To arrive there is your ultimate goal.
But do not hurry the voyage at all.
It is better to let it last for long years;
And even to anchor at the isle when you are old,
Rich with all that you have gained along the way,
Not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.
Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage.
Without her you would never have taken the road.
But she has nothing more to give you.
And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not defrauded you.
With the great wisdom you have gained, with so much experience,
You must surely have understood by then what Ithacas mean

You could get a pretty penny for that by advertising it on a JW message board, or perhaps a nationwide classified.
I know one elder in my area who collected all those old books and paid dearly for them. Or you might even find a KH that would pay you for 'em to build up their "library".
