Nee founded the house-church movement in China in the 1920s and today it has some 50,000,000 members, and I'm not aware he had any health problems, just great sincerity and neighborliness. As a child he had sometimes been "mischevious" but was essentially always a kindly person.

hong xiuquan, and the heavenly hope.
by singsongboi inone of the most instructive books i have read in my post-christian life, is called "god's chinese son" by jonathon spence.. it's the story of hong xiuquan, who became the founder of the taiping christian religion in china - and forced to fight for his/it's existence, came close to overthrowing the qing (manchu) dynasty... it's an instructive story, because xiuquan after having studied the bible with missionaries, fell ill and in the time that he wavered between life and death, became convinced that he was the son of god.. here is my lesson --- how often, christian zeal, and conviction of a close (filial) relationship with god grows out of illness.. what do you think ????

That you say you are a happy person is good, though I would think if you didn't have constant pressure on yourself to attend every single meeting etc your life would be far more JOYful, and joy is a fruitage of Jehovah's Spirit. Do the local elders ever consider you for becoming an elder? Apparently not. They'll sure encourage you to bear a heavy load though, and behind your back will refer to you as "that donkey" then laugh at you. I'm sorry, but it's true.

The collapse of the WBTS? - I don't think so.
by dmouse indo we apostates fall into the same trap as jehovahs witnesses when it comes to blinding ourselves to the truth?.
how often have i confronted jws with overwhelming evidence that the so called signs of the times are simply not being fulfilled in our day only for them to bring up some barely relevant snippet of information, which, to them, shoots my argument down in flames?
it is incredible how jws can ignore the camel of evidence that contradicts what they believe and then exult over the gnat of evidence that supports their view.

It is not an immediate collapse but a choking to death by misleadership. In other words 50% or more aren't going to quit overnight but from year to year a 3% decline is plausible.
Of course over a ten year span that 3% a year would mean 30% although on top of that you have to compound. Thus in as few as 10 years 40% or 4 out of 10 people now members may be gone.
At that rate in 20 years 80% would be gone and in 30 years at least theoretically there would be no Watchtower persons left except maybe a few people somehow drawing out money from old WT accounts.
And what's worse for them is that as the pedophile coverup becomes better known that rate could even accelerate.
Instead look for more new schisms, groups coming in like True Faith JWs from E Europe, God's Kingdom Society from Nigeria, the Bible Students groups already in the U.S. like the Dawn and Berean Bible Students.
I myself am in a Free Christians movement group simply called Christians or more descriptively the Jah Christians which is international and largely internet-based: [email protected] for me, also: [email protected] for the JC's editor Troy Brown

Looking for Several Pieces of Info
by Valis inmy room mate and i have been discussing the origins of the catholic stance on priests and celibacy.
we're currently stuck on the concept of peter, the first pope, having been married.
this kind of throws a kink in their whole foundation imho.

Valis, the only Bible verse that would come close to it would be the one saying some make themselves eunuchs for the kingdom's sake but eunuch usually does not mean a castrated male but a servant for a royal court. This is so because in ancient times in the Middle East male palace servants were often, though not always, castrated out of fear that any man not castarated might have relations with the king's concubines. So the verse really means it's good to be a servant for God, not somebody castrated or totally celibate. The reality in any case is that priests do have sex. I bet even John Paul had some kind of sex when younger even if he were to deny it, and if not he would not be normal. Pedophiles are abnormal, not normal healthy men or women.

I just got ripped off for two grand :-(
by Mindchild insometime yesterday or this morning, i was ripped off for $2,000 in cash.
the money was in an unlocked attache case inside my private room of a shared home.. i kept about $5,000 in cash in my attache case inside my bedroom.
yesterday, i spent about $2,000 of that money buying textbooks (this is my occupation), leaving $3,000 in two envelopes, one having $1,000 and the other $2,000.

Tell them to please check to see if somehow it accidentally got lost among some of their other things, stuck to something, or whatever. That you've got bills to pay and would appreciate their checking around. That will be a polite way of doing it without making a direct accusation.

F, re-read it. There is no evidence for the Sinai desert but according to some persons there is for the Saudi side. Problem is Arabian authorities have kicked out amateur archaeologists who went there and won't allow in the pro's either.

They are atheists. Although there is no archaeological evidence of the exodus in the Sinai there is said to be evidence that Saudi Arabia is not allowing to be freely examined in the Arabian peninsula itself. Many believe the crossing was from Egypt to Arabia.

JW internet warnings
by larc infolks,.
don't they know how dumb their advice turns out to be?
you tell a teenager not to go to the internet, and that is the first thing they will do.

You say they'll control the "old people" but actually it is death that will do that because right now many of those who converted to being members in the 1970s as a result of the Armageddon scare and the seeming logic of the little blue "Truth" book are baby-boomers going into their 50s, a time when heart attacks and the like begin to take a toll. Their only hope for not vanishing in numbers is to keep getting new converts in particular from Brazil.
