You may know by now that Steve Bates who broke the story in the Guardian also got it published and expanded to touch on the pedophilia scandal at that in the Tablet, a newspaper going to some 20,000 ministers in the United Kingdom. So it shouldn't be a surprise if the Watchtower there should have to openly address this with whatever excuses they can concoct. If any of you have his email suggest that he work to get it into the U.S. newspapers as well, ditto Australia, Canada etc.

UN involvement announced at Assembly?

anyone else heard of this or is it a local thing ?.
i would guess they may have only done this because of the coverage in the uk national newspaper which they know they have to counter.

I've got an idea. Ask Steve Bates who has gotten several articles published in the British papers to use his contacts in the U.S., Australia, Canada or wherever (must have some) to get it into papers in those as well. I don't have his email handy. By the way, what is it?

women in the bible
by celebrate inrecently, i was taking part in a discussion about women and how a lot of the ideas about women came from the bible.
as we discussed this, it seemed most of the stories were negative, with the only exceptions being ruth and esther.
negative references include references to eve, jezabel, deliah, divorced women, widows, and lot's wife, were fairly frequent.

Two Elders Came To My Door

As you know they could have disfellowshipped you for "speaking against the elders" already but did not fearing more publicity against them for doing so. Instead they harassed to wear you out and so you would quit on your own. You know your own circumstances best, so if you do officially quit them then by all means use your new found full-scale freedom to even greater effect!
For example why couldn't you and some other friends have a car calvacade to drive with some signs on these issues in your windows up Interstate 55 to St Louis and back to Paducah? Include pointed messages and your toll free number. Maybe as you passed by other cars some of you could honk a little to rivet even more attention on the matter.
The more they bully the more light you and we need to shine on them.

Family member coming around

before i knew it the conversation turned to the subject of doubts about the organization and if i recall correctly (hard when you've had a couple) she is the one that brought the conversation up.

Before the internet even existed is when most became JWs who converted to be such and at that time without the internet there was no easy access to information refuting what was being taught by the Watchtower Society as now is the case. Many have gone online only in the past 5-7 years. Others have never touched a computer even to this time.

British JWs ignoring the GB.
by dmouse inwhen we have american jw relatives visit they are frequently shocked at the difference between how they live their lives and how jws over here live.
its almost as if we are from two different religions.. that divide seems to be getting wider.
i have noticed in the past two or three years a noticeable relaxation among british jws.

How many people did Christ disfellowship? Pul recommended hving less to do with a wrongdoer then at 2Cor 2:6 says a "majority" did as he recommended meaning some did not - and he doesn't condemn that "minority." Yet from Germny to the U.S. we see the Watchtower imposing shunning that destroys families and lives, even promoting suicide in the name of God.

I've also noticed how he speaks against Jerry Bergman. Most of you know about Bergman's compilations or annotated commentary on various publications put out over the years by the Watcthower Society and various Bible Student groups but may not know that Bergman a work with a German author which in German is called Theocratic Warfare. I believe this may account for much of Fred's anti-Bergman sentiment since in it Bergman presents surveys taken of former elders, CO's and DO's who admit to using TW. You see, Bergman is an "expert witness" often called to testify about JW doings and he presents the documented proof he has about TW to jurors. Maybe Bergman did so once and it caused Fred some personal problems such as loss of visitation priveleges.

As far back as 1968 the UN said to be a Non-Government Organization with it required supporting it (not God) as the main source for world peace, and the Watchtower Society (WTS) application for NGO status in 1991 required this also. This was not just an application to use a UN library, and also they had to reapply every year from 1991 to October 2001 when they quit after soundly exposed. Governing Body member Lloyd Barry himself signed the application, not a low-ranking Bethelite doing library research. This latest WTS ploy is another disaster for them. They can not openly admit that they sinned.
