  These WT reviews are very helpful to me.. As I am still on "the fade" and dealing with JW relatives and others in my life it is good to know where their minds are being set from week to week. It also helps to me to realize if they are gung-ho followers of the Org there is not much I could say to them at this point in time that would not be a waste of my time and energy. They are being strongly programmed now to resist all thinking outside of the Org I will just have to let them be until they see or decide for themselves that the Org is not all it says it is--sad but true.

  It all strikes me now as being so very selfish. When I was on my way out it was constantly thrown in my face that I would lose my everlasting life if I did not take such and such course (something very unloving and harmful to my family). So the message was don't care about anyone but yourself and think only of your own everlasting life. Don't listen to your heart--don't love or practice compassion. And whatever you do don't think too much about Jesus and the way he conducted himself or you may fall into the trap of practicing unconditional love and compassion towards all of humankind.

  Food Drives, did you donate when you were a JW?

  today our postal carriers are having a food drive.. i was showing my hubby the things i rounded up and asked about giving something else...he said...no...i said: "well, why shouldn't we, we have plenty"..he then said "sure".. we then had a discussion about if jw's ever give on such occasions for food drives.

  i for one, did not, and i am ashamed to say that too.. so, did you give to food drives when you were a jw?.

  A few times, because my heart told me too, but then I would always strangely question myself...We were always given the illustration of feeding someone. "If you give them a fish they will have food for a day, but if you teach them to fish they will have food for a lifetime". So, the thought was you had to teach people to benefit themselves (by teaching them the bible and WT publications) and not by giving them food. The term "rice Christians" was used a lot too referring to people who took advantage of church donations and food programs, as if that was a bad thing. I now know that was part of the WT BS feeding program. I am determined to follow my heart from now on...

  Why is it even ex JW's run scared when they hear the word apostate?

  i just told them where i work as a volunteer, that i am going to a workshop for those that have left a cult tomorrow.

  they were all fascinated and wanted to know which cult i had belonged to.

  i said jw's and this one guy said i he used to be one of them.

  Because of personal experience and awakening observations I had become totally disgusted with the Org and knew I could never go back to the KH, but felt very alone in my feelings. I wanted to talk with someone abouit my thoughts and feelings but so afraid to even mention that I was no longer a believer of the Org. Finally in a moment of desperation I got online to find some sort of psycological support hoping that I would not run into apostates. My hands were shaking when I first began to search the web. I was scared--really scared. I am convinced that it was fear that was programmed into me by the Org. I know that many do not like to use this word, but how do you spell B.R.A.I.N.W.A.S.H.I.N.G?

  Old Sylvia shopping with friends...Hey look at this cool outfit--it and I just love this color--it's exactly what I have been looking for.

  Cool her friends say--looks really great on you too!.

  New Sylvia shopping with JW women...Here's a dress that is on sale and sort of my size if I do a few alterations on it (she pulls one out of the rack--a dull lifeless loose-fitting model with long sleeves and a pilgrim type collar).

  The JW women all agree that it would make an appropriate field service or meeting dress or could be worn at the next upcoming assembly.

  Silvia's old thinking: Bob got a job promotion

  Silvia's New thinking: Hmm, was this job promotion really a blessing from Jehovah? Or, could it be a tempation from Satan, which could lead Bob away from the truth by creating in him materialistic desires and a lust for prominence and a position in the world? Maybe I had better talk about this with some other sisters in the congo. Did you notice Bob's wife has been wearing a lot of new clothes lately? Maybe she is also falling into this trap of materialism. This job promotion could be the beginning of the end for Bob and his once spiritually rich but materially poor family.

  mothers day can bring up many issues for some of us.

  for some their mothers have passed away and the opportunity to say i love you in person is forever lost.

  for others our mothers are lost to the borg.

  My Mom died of cancer 7 years ago. At the time I was still in the Org. She was close to death 7 years ago on mother's day and my Father came to me and asked me how much it would mean to her if I recognized her just this once on Mother's Day as it was sure to be her last. I was very torn, but stuck to my JW principles of not participating in this holiday of "pagan" origins. I told others in the congo about it and they all agreed that this was the right thing and that it was Satan putting pressure on me at a vunerable time.

  But Mom, what I really want to say is that I wanted so much to bring you a card and flowers and mother's day wishes and I now regret so much that I didn't listen to my heart. I wish I could make it up to you somehow and all the other lost moments that we could have shared together. I love you wherever you are...

  You almost got me there--it sounded too much like a real KM to me. I remember all those talks about going on vacation and how we can use this time as a great opportunity for informal witnessing, attending meetings elsewhere, etc, etc, etc...the Org never wants its members to just relax, because they may start to think their own thoughts then-- put 2+2 together and say...Hey, what the Hay is going on here???

  the centerpiece of san diego's revitalized downtown is horton plaza, an 11.5-acre multi-level shopping and entertainment complex, with shops, restaurants, three major department stores, a 14-screen cinema and a performing arts theatre.

  it now eclipses the once popular balboa theatre where i saw my first bruce lee movie, enter the dragon along with my first jackie chan movie, the big brawl.

  recently, two jehovah?s witnesses, dressed neatly in cheap suits and ties sat motionless in folding chairs behind a vinyl card table directly in the flow of pedestrian shoppers, arms folded, smug smiles on their pasty faces.

  i'v been lurking for a while now, reading many of the messages, and thought now's as good as time as any to say hi and tell ya'll a little about me.

  i was raised a jw, and am currently still in "good standing", although inactive.

  i went to the memorial and special talk and a recent special day ca, but few meetings or fs in quite some time.

  Glad you found this place..everyone here is at a different stage of exiting the Org...whether Dfd, DAd, fading, several years out or myself just plain old disgusted with the whole JW thing after 20 years of being there. Lots of good info and sharing here and a few laughs too. Welcome.

  ok, this may sound silly and trivial.

  but, i need to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.. as a result of facial hair (a goatee and mustache), i was relieved of my incredibly important.

  later, i felt like i should send the elders a thank you note for their wake up call to the fact that i was in a very messed up religion.
