Razor please--most of the people here have already been used and abused by the WTSTS already. Really don't need any more of it please. Go and do some research--you can find out all you need to in your own WT publications--do the cross referencing and you will find that the WT has been changing it's doctrines over the years. When I was baptized--the vow I took was to Jesus and Jehovah--now it's to Jesus or Jehovah and the Organization. go look it up. the change occured in 1985. keep on searching...check out the WTs never changing laws on rape--to scream or not to scream--they could never make their minds up about that one. Some were Dfd because they didn't scream--now it's OK not to scream. This went back and forth for years--ever know anybody that has been wrongly Dfd? They may have lost their whole family and all their friends--small mistake?--I don't think so. Those are two examples of the twisted teachings-- there is more too--lots more, but you will have to see it for yourself...

while your at it check out the silent lambs program--there are actually some witnesses on the board of that one.

Are JWs Are A "Free" People As They Claim???

the argument witnesses make is that they are not encumbered by the world and its so-called "freedom".

they feel they are "free" from all the typical problems of this "worldly system of things"........if you could reason with a witness as to whether or not they are truly "free'', what would you say to help them see the light?

JWs claim that they are free from the hardships that comes from not following bible principles, but...I never saw that in my 20 years of being a JW. Seems like divorce was as common as it was inside as outside the congo. There were teenage pregnancys, drug abuse ( mosty prescription addictions) alcoholism, child molesting, wife beating, dysfunctional families, mental illness....and on and on. The only difference is that they are under the delusion that they are the most morally decent and loving people in the world. And most of them shower regularly and wear dress up clothes and do the whole rest of the JW ritual that gives them the appearance of having it all together..The hypocricy of this group is rampant...

Child abuse victims: While this might not be a factor in many homes, even those who do abuse their children, I have spoken with many people who have said their parents would keep them awake at night or wake them up in the middle of the night. Sleep deprivation is a strong determinant of whether people can assert themselves.

Everyone was worn out by the grind--I really began to see what a strain it all was on the young people. The WT does not promote self care--being tired and in need of rest is not an excuse to miss a meeting or not go out in field service. I remember reading an article in one of the WT publications in the past couple of years. It was about a large family--something like 15 children. Because of their busy schedules work, etc. the only time they could find for study was at 5:00 in the morning--I recall that every morning these children were awoken then to study the bible and WT publications. This really bothered me because this family was used as a shining example for all of us to follow. A sister in our hall commented that they wake their kids up early and read them the daily text while they are still in bed and barely awake. She admitted they protested, but somehow that was OK with her. I remember all the kids staying up late to do their homework because of the meeting nights being on school nights..I guess I was easy on my daughter because her stamina was not that good and I let her stay home to rest when she needed to--I felt sorry for a lot of kids. Going to school 5 days a week, plus studying for meetings and homework and then going out in service on Saturdays and meetings on Sunday morning--they never had a day of rest...

i did.. there wasn't any aspect of jwism that i actually really enjoyed apart from the "apres ski" when the meeting had ended.. meetings bored me silly.. i couldn't abide door to door work.. i never studied voluntarily, just a 5 minute skim the through the watchtower before the meeting started.. worst experience ever was door-knocking on christmas morning.

god, i hated that!.

as for the restrictions as to what you could and couldn't do....ye gods!.

The Passion Christian Hype is Making Me Sick--Thoughts

thought i'd be moved.

it supposedly has changed people's lives, caused them to confess sins (actually turned themselves in as criminals), etc.. please, can you explain to me why shindler's list didn't inspire such actions?

My nerves are too shot to see a movie like that--everyone I see it says it is very bloody--no thanks. Want to know a secret though? When I used to be a practicing JW I always sort of envied those I knew in the community that were Christian/born agains or whatever. They really seemed to emotionally moved by their faith and besides that they got to wear their regular clothes when they worshipped at their churches and looked like normal people..They got to sing too--cool Jesus songs and play guitars and whatever. My point is I never had that real heartflet Jesus love thing going on--it was all very mechanical for me. I would have like a little more Jesus passion in my life, but don't think I will get it from watching this movie or anything else at this point. The WT did a good job in wiping out any good feelings I would have about that kind of spirituality.

i don't think i've made any apology for my leanings here towards jws, whilst i don't imagine most here will agree with me, i just think its good sometimes to redress the balance on this forum in a small way to let people who might be reading/lurking/ know that.. despite feeling messed up a bit in my own head about which direction i want/have to take in my own life, and despite many struggles as deep and traumatic as many have experienced here, i still hold jws as a group in the highest esteem.

i can remember what it was like to try and do the "right" thing and follow the way of the truth, it was bloody hard, and i fell down many times.

i always used to try and pick myself up dust myself down and start over again, sometimes with success for longer periods than others.

I was in the Org for 20 of my adult years...I have seen people come and go--children grow up in the Org--the coverups--the abuse--all of it and in 2 different states and in several congos. I know for a fact these are not isolated incidents...You must've been in an isolated area with a group of fairytale JWs. All you have to do is read their own literature to know how abusive the Org can be--it is not just the people in the Org--it is the Organization behind the name--I for one don't want to support an organization that is based on things untrue and that has caused so much pain in peoples lives no matter how nice the people in it may seem. I have met many amazing people who display many of those fruits of the spirit and who serve their fellow human beings out of love. The JWs do not have the market on goodness as we were all lead to believe.

Don't really know your story. I do agree their are some JWs who are really trying to do what is right, but quite a few of those truly good people are having a lot of anxiety these days, because they cannot jive what is truly good and loving with the unloving WT doctrine that they are continually being fed. Thus there is much confusion in the Org and just recently fading away as I am doing I can look and see how it is truly affecting these people. I always felt torn between doing what was right in my heart (what I felt was the loving and kind thing) to absolute obiedience to the Org. My absolute obiedience to the Org would have costed me my marriage and my relationship with my loving daughter...Long story, but no joke. I had no choice but to leave or kill myself or destroy my loving non-JW family--I chose to leave. I can no longer look upon people as righteous and kind hearted who continue to support these doctrines based on this whole conditional love program. JWs are only allowed to be loved if they are serving the Org--I have seen this occuring over and over again--too many times this was thrown in my face. My only hope is that the best ones in there will leave...

i once spent some time living in a womens refuge with my four children escaping from the domestic violence and emotional abuse that my husband deemed to be appropriate to bestow upon us.

apparently he had the blessing of my congregation to do so.
