i admit it, i wanted to be the first to wish all of you guys a happy father's day.. i've been thinking about those of you who are separated from their kids, and grandkids, all week.. to you guys, especially, talesin sends her love, and wants you all to know that i will be thinking of you tomorrow.
i feel your sorrow, and fervently hope the next year will bring happy changes to your family.. to those who have their families with them, i celebrate your dedication to truth and freedom, and the love you have shown your children by choosing a borg-free life.. to fathers!
Happy Daddy day to me....Happy Daddy day to me....oops...thats a different creature worship song
Thanks Talesin and everyone else for the Happy Fathers day wishes, and the same right back atcha

the anwser is: know one really knows but jehovah.. i have been df'd for 3 years now.
i still struggle with: "should i go back cuz i dont want to die" .
but then its not really for the "right" reason.
Sinamongurl....welcome to jwd.
You are in good company (mostly) here. You have vast resources on every subject under the sun to do with the religion of jws. Take your time and don't get scared off if you read something painful or disturbing about said religion. Many of the people here go to great lengths to dissect all things jw to see if they are true or not.
The fear and pain of disfellowshipping and 'what might happen' if Armageddon comes are key reasons why I don't believe such action has anything to do with christianity.
boa....(who also gives a vote to farkel's post - no offense meant Steve )
while the watchtower is asset rich, contributions are another matter entirely.
passive-aggressive witnesses are skipping.
meetings and walking past lonely contribution boxes.
Intriguing, Interesting, Thought-provoking posts to this thread.
It would seem to me that the organization known as Jehovah's Witnesses is already dead.
Like a great tree that has fallen in the forest, it may take many years or decades for it to be consumed.
Since there is nothing new under the sun with this religion, and all that is left is re-hashed from bygone years, in what way does it have any life?
I find it hard to believe that this religion could ever become mainstream due to the extreme arrogance of its hierarchy and the core members.
Without the carrot at the end of the stick for the R&F of a 'paradise new order, right around the corner', and despite the explanation that 'we don't serve God for what he gives/promises us', the result will likely be mass exodus even more so than now.
No matter what my personal feelings are having been born into that religion and a part of it for most of my 30+ years, it is a very interesting one from a historical perspective.....thank you all who detailed many of these things.

last night's meeting was sooooo boring, i was in pain.
i have been a witness my whole life and it's the same ole thing, meeting after meeting.. listen up, governing body...if you want to keep the rank and file from leaving (by the way, our congregation is missing half of it's publishers from the meetings on a regular basis) please change the format of the meetings.
i don't know how much more i can stand.. last sunday, we had 68 in attendance at the public talk and 3 less that i know of for the wt study (cause we left).
I understand my friend, i understand....
If I had to go to a meeting now, well, I would have to do a slow strip throughout the whole thing just to liven things up a bit and keep me busy and others, well, on the edge of their seats....
boa....damn done with dem damn meetings....
i just thought of that question while i was reading the thread about the farmer and the wolf.
i've read that illustration many times; people love it.
anywho, i was just wondering if you guys think people with "bad hearts" are going to heaven?
well, since I don't believe in heaven or hell or even a god right now.....my answer would be uhhhh no, unless you believe a certain physical 'bliss' is heaven lol (i do)
boa
well it's assembly time borgs and borgettes......are you planning on attending this year??
are you ready to fall asleep by 9:55am when the opening song and prayer are over?
wonder how you'll ever make it to 5 o'clock without falling into a coma?
awesome stuff mary....too bad i'm not going this year to try it out!
btw....don't forget the good ol' binocular trick under the pretense of 'finding the friends' you know, but really they make for finding all the hotties exposing a lil' more skin at inopportune moments during the sessions.
Plus if for some unknowable reason I HAD to go to one of these, I damn well bring a 40 of Vodka and get completely blasted!
boa.....
ps...love all the thongs the sis' are wearing nowadays showing through all those 'modest' dresses lol
my aunt just told me that there is new light in the july 15th watchtower study article.
she won't tell me what it is.
she said to look close and i would find it.
the 'new' light she was talking about is actually another subliminal message in a picture somewhere......thats why she can't tell you....
you get the big prize if you can find it!
boa......new light = barf
last week, i took my vehicle to speedy because the brakes got squishy.
i had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.
they charged me $650, and i picked it up yesterday.
Uhhhh.....apparently i'm the only licensed automotive technician to comment here so far, and in no way am i defending any company but.....here are a few comments for and against what you went through.....
Last week, I took my vehicle to Speedy because the brakes got squishy. I had to leave it with them for the entire week while they fixed my problem.Barring anything else, an entire week is a very long to fix a brake problem in my experience unless they explained to you they were very booked up (can happen quite often).
They charged me $650, and I picked it up yesterday.Depending on what they did and what vehicle, this is NOT unusual or necessarily a sign of getting ripped off. (Talking Canuck bucks too!)
The brakes were EXACTLY the same as when I took it in.Did they thoroughly understand that this is why you brought it in? (just asking)
I got on the blower and told the guy that I'm not happy, and the brakes had the exact same problem. I'm so @#$%ing mad about this. Why be so mad - people all too often are completely ignorant of the complexity of any modern automobile - diagnosis and repair of many automotive problems can be time-consuming and detailed. If people don't like it....replace everthing and give 'em a REAL bill to stop a heart!
I'm getting married next Friday, and I NEED the truck by Tuesday.Sure, and HOW long did this vehicle have this problem and you only now brought it in? (just asking)
Today, after work, I'm taking it back, and I'm bringing my fiance with me (she knows how to effectively tear people's heads off). We can't afford to blow any more money on this.
The last thing a technician needs to worry about is the decisions OTHER people make to buy some piece of you know what. If you can't afford to blow money on YOUR chosen mode of transportation - TAKE A BUS! (lol)
Bottom line to me coming from the trade side is....yes, you could be getting ripped off.....Is this a given? NO!
Is an automobile like a fridge that'll last (hopefully) 20 yrs without much maintenance? NO! Heat/Cold/Vibration/Wear and Tear/Operator abuse/Age/Environmental conditions/Complexity and other factors will make these vehicles big on Maintenance/Repair.
boa's crappy 2 bits
does anyone know where i can download a km on a monthly basis?
i checked the wt site but it would be to convenient for us to have that priveledge.
or should i say freedom?
Welcome Fullblast!
I unfortunately still get the kms but will rectumfy that soon.....don't want or need anymore firestarters eh!

.
did you ever get into just doing random underlines and notes and all that on your study wt or books just to look like you?d studied it without ever having even looked at it before?
.
yup, but only a coupla times before I realized how stupid it was to do it.
however, probly equally as dumb are all the times (many more) that I couldn't find the right wt for the meeting or forgot it so I 'pretended' by using another wt to go through the motions. If you paid just a little attention, you could even comment with the wrong mag in your hands, since its all comic book stuff regurgitated over the last 80 yrs -
or even the 'underline the whole paragraph' trick - works in a pinch but takes a bit longer
boa.....gawd, i was sooooo messed up in that religion....now i'm messed up out of that religion
