096) If you go to "Home Depot" and go down the aisle where the doors for homes are displayed, and you feel the urge to knock on them, you might be a JW.

wow,.....this is a good question - Because there was a "gap" of two years between my 'productive' years of intense field service activity and actually "fading to black", I did not have any active studies that needed to be "resheparded". But it is amusing to think about the role(s) that some of my former students play in my laife now, 15 years removed from being active - One is a bartender at the local Olive Garden (needless to say, I REALLY enjoy spending time with him.............) Another is a very active "apostate" in the Atlanta, GA area. Yet another is a twelve year veteran of the armed forces. But there is only one or two of thirty or so that I studied with that are still active!!!!

What first gave you doubts ?
by rick1199 inwe all know the big problems with the wts, but what was the first thing that made you realise there were problems with the organisation ?
with me it was realitivly small stuff like an 8 year old getting baptised and a comment my best mates made about another of our friends asking if we should be hanging round with her as she might be bad assciation (she had just been reproved, but they had been mates 20 years).. .
how ever the first time i ever thought something was really wrong was when i was about 11 and my grand farther died, and mu mum wouldn't go to the funeral, i remeber thinking that surely it was better to say good bye properly than worry about if the service was in a church.. .

this comment at a Circuit Assembly:"Why paint the boat while it is going down", in reference to the witness youths rejecting the idea of going to college. Frankly, this scared the crap out of me, in that they was a resistance to the advancement of human thought, and effort by way of a formal education.....the witnesses strong discouragement of attendance to college for their young has proven to be disastrous in expanding the scope of free thought and the need to "test" a theory or teaching before embracing it as a life long belief.

by Mr Ben inwhat's the craziest thing you ever heard at the kingdom hall or assembly hall?
there were lots of crazy ideas coming from elders, co's & do's in my neck of the woods, but one in particular sticks in my mind.

the strangest thing that comes to mind is the guy that opened a meeting with a 5-minute prayer, in which, he referred to God as "poppa", not once or twice, but a dozen or more times - I also remember a story that was related to me in which the WT conductor called on the brother standing in the back of the Kingdom Hall (attendant):"Brother Paine,....in the rear"

there are some great entries here......Ju Dou, Cinema Paradiso (greatest performance by an actor under 10!!!), Wings of Desire; I vote for In Laws (with Peter Falk), Il Postino, Citizen Kane, Casablanca, Scrooged, Husbands, Wizard of Oz, The Game, High Noon, Philadelphia, Fitzcaraldo, and Rebel Without a Cause.

"You're insane."
by Markfromcali inthis quote is taken from the movie fight club, spoken by edward norton's character "jack.
" tyler, who is jack's imaginary friend, responds by saying: "no, i think you'll find that you're insane.".
the reason tyler says this is the fact that jack is the one who is imagining tyler into existence, and taking him as real.
