What was the silliest thing they told you NOT to do?

there was some really piddily-crap that i remember.. for instance, when i was about 17 toe-rings became popular, and one of the sisters bought one....wore it to the kh during the summer with her sandals.

my best friend in the hall wanted one, which of course caused this huge debate about whether it would be okay 'in jehovah's eyes', and didn't it go against the scripture that counsels women against "bodily adornment", blah-blah-blah.

toe rings??!

In league City, Texas back in the late '70s we used to go to a German restaurant, Hofbrau Gardens, after thursday night meeting. You could get pizza along with the usual German sausages and stuff, and they had a live band; that's where I learned the BOX STEP.

One night we showed up and there were two elders at the entrance, towering there at the door like a couple of Nazi Gestapo. They informed my dad (who was an elder) that we shouldn't go in. I don't remember the reasoning, but my dad was pissed.

Don't say "gosh"... it just another form of "god".

here is a picture of my wife i took a few days ago when we went up to the va mountains, about an hours drive from here.

the lighting wasn't very good but she still looks good, especially for a 62 year old.

most people thinks she is in her early 50s.. i'm one lucky man..

Identity Cards ... good or bad idea?

one of the questions in the uk at the moment is whether we shoudl have identity cards or not.. the government, who wants them, claims they will "help to prevent terrorism".

spain and the usa both have identity cards and they have had big terrorist attacks.

it's never been explained exactly how they will stop terrorists.. my personal opinion is that they are just another government play to control people, another form of tax (you can bet it will cost us to get them) and i have my doubts as to whether the government could run a large scale it project of that magnitude (given it's track record) and whether the estimated 3bn won't end up many years late and at least 10bn over-budget.

I personaly don't mind the idea of a card. I do believe it can help contain (weed out) illegal aliens. When your visa runs out you could be cought easier. If you have nothing to hide, why worry. They already know so much about our habits and whereabouts as it is.
