What is Your Favorite WT Lie?
by Sea Breeze ini would like to start a thread on lies that the watchtower and their reps have told.
surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.
my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

What made you look behind the jw curtain?
by Touchofgrey ini was listening to a lunchtime call in radio show about jws and the personal experiences of being disfellowshiped, and a former elder called in saying he was disfellowshiped for asking about jws and their involvement in the un in the 1990s ,and he just said look it up.. thinking that it was a made up lie ,so i looked it up and it was true even a letter confirming it from the un itself and that led me here and to jwfacts and further research into the history and teachings of jw and walked out the door about 5 years ago.

I was 2nd gen JW. Myself and my daughter were treated poorly. My light bulb moment was the UN membership that Watchtower had. I also know of the guy that signed them up personally.

How the JWs Handle a Member Visiting Another Church: What Is Your Experience?
by LauraLynn ini grew up a jw but my parents were not regularly attending services at a kh.
they used to, and were thoroughly indoctrinated though.
as is the jws habit of visiting non-attenders, 2 sisters came to my mom and dad's door one day to inquire of our well-being.

Would you be able to survive a three day Assembly?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe last assembly i attended was over 10 years ago.
the monotone speakers, boring talks, uncomfortable seats, long prayers and nodding off after the lunch break did me in.
i survived the morning sessions, but the afternoon sessions were brutal.

Our Cong. rented a bus for the convention. Newly married we got two seats on the bus. We got to the KH early in the morning I drove in the parking lot and found a school bus!. Im 6 ft 3 in. tall cant fit in this bus seat and no bathroom. We got back into the car and drove there. What a joke. We gave our bus seats to someone else.

Long gal said...What I also hated was the overly long closing prayer.. If people were smart they left before the song and prayer and beat the crowds out of there.
Been there done that. wife and two young children up at the nose bleed section always walked down the steps before the BIG final talk by some special bethel guy. We got out of dodge with good traffic 1 hour drive home

So early one morning we hopped on the train. Took us on the other side of the mountains and we returned the same day. Found out this elder got DFed because he was a pedo.

Ages of each user here?
by ukpimo ini'm interested to know the age demographics here.
it must be significantly different to other exjw forums.
it would be a damning report for watchtower if most of us appear to have left for decades.. you don't have to mention your exact age, you could always say "in my 50s".. i am in my 70s.

Woodstock generation for me. My daughter and I walked out in the middle of the public talk in 1995. We left our bibles and our watchtowers on the seat. Our names were on the Bibles and we did not study the watchtower.

Kingdom hall cleaning
by Farmer Jim1 inwhat are your memories of hall cleaning?.
i actually enjoyed it on the whole, my dad as the elder always tried to keep it to under one hour but in my later years in a hard-line congregation it was a chore.
the po's wife had a printed list and we had to complete it all before left (or got disapproving looks if we left after an hour).. as well as vacuuming the whole building the lost said you had to dismantle the vacuum and clean and polish all the internal elements.
